The role
We are currently looking to recruit a Group Financial Controller - an exciting opportunity to provide strategic financial leadership across the Soil Association Group, comprising both charities and commercial companies, including a new digital start-up, all working to transform the way we eat, farm and care for our natural world.
As an experienced finance professional you will lead the Group’s financial planning and accounting and provide high level analysis and advice to trustees and leadership teams. The role heads up the Group finance function, a respected and motivated team, and works collaboratively across the Group supporting income generation and financial management. We are in the process of updating our financial processes and systems and we are looking for someone to continue the journey to improve our efficiency, provide better data analysis and improve internal controls.
As a member of the Executive team you will also contribute to the strategic direction and sustainability of the organisation whilst ensuring its vision and core values are upheld.
About you
You will:
• Be a qualified accountant with experience of leading a finance function in a complex organisation and have significant post qualification experience working in the not for profit sector ideally in a charity and a solid understanding of the Charity SORP .
• Be a strong leader able to communicate well with your peers and team members and have resilience to adapt quickly to changing priorities and demands from internal and external stakeholders. Experience of transforming finance systems and processes is also highly desirable.
• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrable experience of leading and engaging with finance and other corporate functions to develop a mature and rounded service. You will demand high standards, whilst being an empathetic and supportive manager who works collaboratively with people of all levels
• Be financially and politically aware, bringing a high level of knowledge on the delivery of good financial control and financial governance ensuring that an effective service is delivered.
• You will be passionate about the natural environment and be motivated by the Soil Association’s vision for regeneration.

About The Role
This is an exciting time to join WWT in this new post which will provide an essential support function across all three fundraising sections of the Philanthropy & Partnerships Department; Corporate Partnerships, Major donors and Grants. This post will also support the Prospect Research function of the team, helping to identify and qualify potential new donors for the team to investigate. We work with a wide range of highly impactful and innovative corporate partners, grant funders, and philanthropists, who share our commitment to the environment. This role is key to the professional delivery of these partnerships, as well as supporting our ambitions to grow income. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience where you will work closely with colleagues across the P&P department and the wider organisation.

About the Role
As a Trainer, you’ll deliver a variety of courses to diverse groups, ensuring high standards of teaching and assessment. From CPR techniques to mental health awareness, you’ll empower learners with essential skills while contributing to the organisation’s life-saving mission.
You’ll manage your own schedule, travel to training locations, and be responsible for setting up engaging, professional sessions. With support from a dedicated team, you’ll maintain compliance with awarding body standards and contribute to the continuous improvement of training delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and assess workplace training courses such as First Aid at Work and Mental Health Awareness.
- Set up training venues, ensuring all materials and equipment are ready.
- Conduct dynamic risk assessments at venues and act as a designated first aider and fire marshal.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of your subject area through professional development.
- Promote the organisation’s products and services to learners.
- Complete all required documentation promptly and accurately.
Skills / Experience Required
- Essential qualifications:
- Level 3 Certificate in Learning and Development or equivalent, plus a valid course-specific qualification (e.g., First Aid at Work, IOSH).
- Experience:
- Delivering first aid and/or health and safety courses to adults.
- Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse groups.
- Other:
- Physically able to perform CPR on a manikin on the floor.
- Confident using Microsoft applications and digital tools for course administration.
- A full driving licence and access to a vehicle for travel to training venues.
