Whilst those running suicide prevention programmes are a significant proportion of our membership, a growing number are those whose core business is not suicide prevention but who recognise the need to take action and are seeking support to do so.
There are more organisations than ever working to prevent suicide and it can be difficult to navigate the wealth of information available and connect with organisations that may be undertaking similar/ relevant work. Some may be unaware of or find it difficult to access evidence around what works, what is already happening and what can be built upon.
Why NSPA?
Make a real difference in the lives of those affected by suicide, all whilst working in a supportive and inclusive environment. As our NSPA Content & Engagement Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in leading our efforts to drive meaningful change to help prevent suicide.

• Develop a more strategic approach to our engagement with members
• Support the next step in the development of our network by building an online community hub, to support on-going knowledge-sharing, community connection and depth of engagement with our wide range of members.
• Have the opportunity to build and manage relationships with NSPA members, people with lived experience and other key stakeholders.
• Manage the NSPA’s communications, working closely with the Membership & Communications Officers with strategic input from the Executive Lead.
Emotional Resilience
In this role you may be exposed to detailed information and personal stories of suicide, which may be upsetting. We will discuss this with you at interview stage however this role does require a good level of emotional resilience. Support is in place both from the organisation and within the team.
What’s in it for you – our benefits
So, you want to work for us? Good choice. We like it here too. We offer competitive salaries, flexible and hybrid working to suit your needs, family-friendly policies, 28 days annual leave inclusive of wellbeing days and a matched pension contribution up to 5%. You’ll have a structured induction and ongoing projects, secondments & learning opportunities. We also have colleague-led affinity groups made up of people with shared identities.
Your health and wellbeing is our priority. We have a staff community of Mental Health First Aiders, a Health Cash Plan and an Employee Assistance Programme. You’ll have free subscriptions to Headspace (your personal guide to mindfulness, sleep, focus, movement, and more) & Perkbox (an employee benefits platform with online exercise classes). That’s not all. We listen to your ideas and have staff forum and social committee networks.
Hybrid and flexible working
We are a flexible organisation, and we embrace hybrid working – a mix of connecting in person and remotely. We’re aware that the world is changing, and we all want and need different things from our work and home lives. So, if you need to walk the dog, go to the gym, or have commitments outside of work, we’re open to talking through flexible working options that work for you and us.
Being Inclusive
We recognise the enormous benefits and the social justice imperatives of ensuring diversity at every level of our organisation. Samaritans is wholly committed to inclusion and diversity and to building a culture and environment where everyone is appreciated for the unique person they are. CVAA UK is a membership organisation supporting not-for-profit adoption agencies across the UK who specialise in finding homes for children in care. Over 3000 children in the UK need adoption each year because they cannot remain at home or with family members. The CVAA Practice Programme delivers 30 or more online courses each year to those working in the sector, primarily social workers. The programme has developed a strong reputation for attracting a range of subject experts to deliver cost effective, engaging and useful training. The full programme is listed on the CVAA UK website and inlcudes topics such as LGBTQ+ parenting; therapy for children; identity formation; racism and anti-racism; parenting courses; theraplay and many more.
Due to a restructure of the team, we are now looking for a Training Manager who can oversee the administration and delivery of the programme. Initially fixed term, it is anticipated that this post will become permanent. We are keen to have someone joiun us as soon as possible.
The Training Manager will work with the Head of Practice Development to ensure that the courses are full, supported, delivered effectively and evaluated. Part of the role will also be to source new trainers and support the creation of the programme into 2025.
The CVAA team work remotely across the UK so location of the postholder is not a barrier to recruitment as long as long as they can travel occasionally and come into London for team days. The team is small, diverse and dynamic. Experience of project management or delivery of training or events is more important than knowledge of adoption or children's social care. We would warmly welcome an application from people who have lived experience of adoption or fostering, and candidates from the Global Majority.
Benefits include:
- Flexible working
- Pension
- Personal training budget
- Generous holiday allowance
- Office closure during festive break each December
Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK and will need to undertake a DBS due to the sensitive nature of the work of CVAA. We require three references, one of whom can be personal. To apply please prepare a comprehensive CV with a covering letter in English which address all the requirements of the Person Specification by providing evidence and examples to back up statements.
Petra Jodlova, Head of Practice Development, is available to arrange informal conversations about the post.
The closing date for applications is now 11.59pm 20th May 2024. Interviews will be week commencing 27th May 2024.
Please note we will require a full CV and detailed cover letter addressing the key person specification criteria.

About us
This is who we are
We are a creative human rights organisation with a focus on children and young people. We believe children deserve to have their rights fully recognised and respected, just as all humans do. We press for rights – not charity – and campaign for a genuine shift in how governments and societies view and treat children. Through research, policy, art and creative storytelling, we encourage people to think critically about the world.
Guided by our CRIN Code, we are committed to building a team that represents a wide range of experiences, locations, backgrounds, heritage and perspectives. We understand that the world and its problems cannot be looked at in isolation, that everything is connected, and achieving change calls for many different voices. If this resonates with you – we would really love to hear from you.
This is why we need you
We see communications as storytelling. Because stories make our world. They hold real power and have real consequences. On a basic level, the stories we hear influence the things we believe, which in turn, influence the laws and policies making up the systems that govern us. So every aspect of how we present stories – how we read, watch and listen to them – matters. Looking at our work through this lens has challenged us to reframe our thinking on how we want to communicate.
Our website and our digital platforms are our biggest tools for communication. We have been working towards a dream of audiences encountering CRIN’s website as a holistic experience - bringing design, content and expression together. For our platforms to feel like spaces for conversation (open), not solely where people go for information (closed). Spaces to share ideas and build on the ideas of others to form a community. We still have a long way to go to get there. But we have started the work – and invite you to join us in continuing it.
This is why we are looking for a new Communications Manager to lead on planning and implementing our communications work.
About you
This is who we are looking for
You understand the power of language in all its forms: written, spoken, unspoken, and visual. You’re passionate about justice, equality and global issues facing our planet. Under the guise of your day job, you may even secretly be an artist. Crucially, you practise the disappearing art of listening.
You believe that storytelling has a crucial role to play in sharing ideas, changing opinions and building a collective vision for a better world. You have a strong understanding of how narratives are constructed and how to effectively communicate in different ways, with different audiences, on different platforms.
You’re aware that the world won’t change one tweet at a time, but you nonetheless know how to get the message across to the right people, and have a complete and nuanced understanding of digital audiences.

-
Manage content for our digital platforms in a variety of formats (illustrations, videos, audio and written pieces);
-
Develop a new social media strategy and manage our social media channels
