Contractually this role is London-based.

Job Information

We’re looking for a creative-loving Marketing Communications person to join our digital content team at Hospice UK. It’s a really exciting chance to jump into a pivotal role here, and facilitate much of the great visual content that we produce as a team.

You’ll be working with some lovely people in the wider Communications and Campaigns team, which is part of an External Affairs directorate. We’re a small, close-knit department but already this year we’ve achieved some truly mighty results – not least, our recent rebrand, new strategy and new visual identity.

As you might imagine, working at a hospice charity brings with it some truly compassionate people. It’s a really lovely place to work because the people make it so. As Senior Marketing Communications Officer, you’d be part of a team of three, including your line manager (Senior Digital Marketing & Campaign Manager), and Membership Communications Officer.

And yes – as a hospice charity, we do work with death and dying on a daily basis. But it’s not all doom and gloom. Actually, by talking about it, writing about it and sharing stories about it, we’re helping to remove the stigma and taboo that it often comes with. And those stories and communications help give people hope, strength and confidence, sometimes when they need it most.

As Senior Marketing Communications Officer, you’ll be looking after a lot of our more creative, aesthetic products and projects. You might already be working as a Marketing or Digital Marketing Officer or Coordinator, and looking for the next step for your career. Or you could be an established Marcomms professional searching for a new challenge. Maybe you’ve already been in a marketing management position and want to get back to doing what you love!

Either way, you’ll be pretty knowledgeable on how to look after digital channels like social media and websites, and will have some experience of both. You might have some photoshoot management and video projects under your belt too, and ideally you’ll have experience of managing a digital asset management system. The role will also involve some print project knowledge, so it would be really handy if you’ve looked after relationships with designers, printers and know how the process works (and what gsm our new Impact Report should be, for example!)

We don’t expect you to be a brand specialist, but hopefully you’ll have experience of working with an organisation’s brand book, tone of voice and visual identity guidelines. That’s because many people in other teams here will turn to you for guidance on how to use our new brand, which logo or font to use, and requests to source appropriate photography in our house style.

We’re looking to bolster our content and storytelling about compelling hospice care, and we’d love someone to join us with ideas on how to elevate that, and help source and write those stories up for us. Part of your role as Senior Marketing Communications Officer will be to help produce content – stories, videos, photos, resources – to our two major national campaigns: Hospice Care Week, and Dying Matters Awareness Week. We’re based in London’s King’s Cross, just a five minute walk from the station. But Hospice UK employees are based all over the UK! We have both quarterly all-staff and External Affairs away days, which are a great chance to catch up in person with colleagues from around Hospice UK.

The opportunity

The organisation:
We are excited to be working with a very well-known international development charity to help them find a Head of Individual Giving for a 12 month maternity contract. They are looking for an experienced fundraiser with a strong leadership track record, who can help them with their mission of alleviating poverty around the world. 

Key responsibilities:

• Lead the development and delivery of a cost effective individual donor recruitment strategy
• Recruit new individual donors, targeting individuals who have greatest potential to continue their support for the work of the charity throughout their lifetime and by engaging in whole life response
• Plan and execute strategic brand and marketing campaigns designed to appeal to new audiences of individuals and families who have not previously supported the charity, using multiple marketing channels including, but not limited to digital advertising, social media, PR, OOH, TV, radio and print.
• Align fundraising activity with wider vision, mission and brand identity
• Achieve acquisition KPIs and specific appeal targets
• Work alongside the Head of Retention in the strategy and planning of the journey from conversion through to welcome and onboarding

Person specification:

• Programme Oversight & Line Management: Manage the delivery to a very high standard of all our charity capacity-building and training programmes, including being a highly effective line manager for our team of dedicated charity services programme managers. 

• Grant Writing and Income Generation: Develop funding proposals and grant applications to secure new and repeat funding support for Media Trust's charity programmes and activities and lead the development team in meeting income targets through paid for training for clients including charities and funders.

What we are looking for in you 

• Senior Leadership Experience: Proven track record of senior leadership in the charity sector, ideally at an infrastructure or membership organisation, including line management experience and responsibility for managing budgets. 

• Training & Capacity Building Programme Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in designing, delivering and measuring the impact of training and other capacity-building programmes for charities and under-represented communities, ideally by strengthening their media, communications and/or digital skills. 

• Business Development: Demonstrated expertise in designing and pitching for paid for training and other services. 

• Grant Writing Experience: Strong grant writing skills with a successful history of securing funding from diverse sources including government grants, trusts and foundations, and corporates.

As Finance & Operations Administrator you will have a key role to play working closely with the trustees and Head of Fundraising & Communications to co-ordinate activities,  to ensure day to day operations in the UK run smoothly.  

The role as advertised covers a broad range of activities. However there will be peaks and troughs of workload. 

This job is for you if you are:

-  A qualified accountant or bookkeeper with experience of Xero ideal (training can be provided).

- Confident working with Microsoft Office (Excel & Word) & Shared drive (eg, GoogleDocs).

- Comfortable working with a variety of IT packages, or learning how to do so 

- Very organised, able to take the initiative, able to work independently.

In a typical month you’ll:

-  Support the Chair of Finance; preparing monthly accounts. Processing receipts and payments for bank reconciliation; invoices and expense claims.   Filing finance documentation. Maintian the restricted v unrestricted donation records, Gift Aid schedules, HMRC returns.

-  Support  the Head of Fund Raising and Communications, liaising with donors (sending receipts, requests for information), researching potential donors, preparing grant applications, ordering brochures and marketing information. Acting as a day to day point of contact. 

- Support the Chair and Vice Chair of Trustees;  helping to prepare and distribute monthly meeting agendas, supporting papers, co-ordinating virtual meeting schedule, drafting and distributing minutes, .- 

-  Support the Chair of Governance ensuring Trustee and Staff Handbooks (policies and protocols), risk register, are uptodate and accessible via the website portal. Lead the administration process for the recruitment of trustees and staff, including the preparation of candidate packs, advertising, induction. Oversight of the EFA Partnership Agreements.

- Support the Chair of Educaton re liaison with relevant external auditors (safeguarding, health and safety, risk). Linking with Moroccan partners to agree on timing and arrangements for audit visits. Ensuring reports are available to trustees as agreed. 

- General ad hoc support to trustees, staff and external stakeholders as required.

This is a part time position, based at the Centra London Samaritans branch office, to support the Head of Branch Operations and branch staff team with various duties primarily focused on admin, community events support, and assisting with digital/social media.

The successful candidate will be a proactive individual, able to look ahead and plan for what’s coming up. Key responsibilities

 Office & Finance Administration

• Working alongside the Office Manager to ensure the smooth running of the office.
• Responding to general enquiries.
• Co-ordinating the weekly staff office duties rota.
• Co-ordinating the internal meeting room booking schedule.
• Support the Office Manager to coordinate the prompt and accurate weekly grants and invoice authorisation and payments process.
• Working alongside the Office Manager in the review of supplier’s contracts.
• Preparing the monthly petty cash and credit card reconciliation for authorisation.
• Depositing cheques and cash donations as soon as they are received and recording transactions.
• Overseeing the Finance inbox, monitoring enquiries and invoices.
• Ensuring all finance records are filed accurately and systematically.
• Provide HR administrative support.
• Providing administrative support across all teams as and when required.

Grants Administration

• Coordinate grants programme shortlisting and assessment panel meetings.
• Schedule the Grants and Learning Team enquiry rota, events and 1:1s for prospective applicants.
• Collate photos, music and other digital assets from funded partner reports for use on our communications channels.
• Provide administrative support for our youth participation activities.
• Supporting our work with Funding Advisors, including scheduling training, checking availability, and tracking invoices.

General

• Carrying out all such additional duties as are reasonably commensurate with the role.

As our Performance and BI Analyst, you will empower our Marketing & Fundraising teams and ensure that they have the data and insights they need to build and optimise campaigns. You will build and maintain performance reports to track our progress and success and embed a data-driven approach in all our marketing and fundraising efforts.

In this role, you will:

• Lead the scoping, data collection, and creation of high-quality reports. Ensure accuracy and relevance across all business areas.
• Design reports that follow our visual identity, using appropriate visuals and tables for quick insights.
• Identify and resolve any inconsistencies in our data, ensuring reliable reporting.
• Work with other analysts to gather necessary insights and maintain wide business knowledge.
• Collaborate with the Technology team to ensure seamless transition to Salesforce and rebuild reports in Power BI.

To be successful, it is important that you have:
