About the role
We are seeking a passionate and strategic Head of Community Fundraising to join our team and play a pivotal role in developing Dementia UK’s Community Fundraising strategy, providing excellent fundraising experiences and delivering high quality supporter journeys which maximise short, medium and long-term income generation for Dementia UK.
Leading the Community Fundraising team, you will play a critical role in ensuring Dementia UK can continue to expand its vital services for families affected by dementia. With a clear vision for innovation and supporter engagement, you will be responsible for driving the development and delivery of a bold and effective community fundraising strategy, aligned with wider fundraising and organisational objectives. You will deliver against agreed KPIs, ensuring that the strategies and activities directly support the broader objectives of Fundraising and Engagement, and the organisation.
You will champion high-quality supporter stewardship so that everyone has a fantastic experience with Dementia UK – and ensure team managers continually review the supporter experience so that relationships with supporters are high quality and maximise fundraising potential. You’ll work closely with the Fundraising Innovation Lead to support new product development and the continuation of ideas and minimum viable products.
As a senior leader, you will cultivate a high-performing and aspirational team culture, inspiring staff to exceed targets while providing strong leadership and professional development. Additionally, you will work across the directorate, partnering with Marketing & Communications to enhance brand visibility and supporting wider Fundraising team initiatives to drive greater influence and engagement.

- Track record of working with complex or technical information and making it accessible to a variety of audiences.
- Track record of working on global issues with multiple partners.
- Experience of building relationships with journalists, and partnering with other organisations to leverage impact.
- Experience working with people from different backgrounds and cultures, ideally in a geographically dispersed organisation.
- Management experience (line management, volunteer management, or freelance service providers).
- Fluency in English.

About the role
Thousands of people in our communities are affected by breast cancer, and many of these are compelled to help by fundraising for Breast Cancer Now. To enable us to best support our network of fundraisers, and contribute to a sector leading programme, we’re looking for a community fundraising executive to join the London, South and Wales team.
In this busy and exciting supporter-facing role, you’ll provide stewardship to our brilliant fundraisers organising events from bake sales and balls to tractor runs and sponsored walks. And, alongside the other community fundraiser executives, you’ll be the first point of contact for supporters, playing a key role in the smooth day to day running of the programme.
Through excellent relationship management, you’ll inspire our supporters to see through their fundraising plans, raise as much as possible and continue to support the charity in a way that’s right for them.

Overall purpose of the role
The Senior Communications Manager is responsible for delivering exceptional communications to enhance Orbis UK's profile in both the UK and the Middle East. The position is responsible for implementing strategic plans for UK and Middle East audiences, while supporting the Media and PR Manager in boosting Orbis UK's brand presence. The role also includes leading reputation and crisis management responses and plans.
The Media and PR Manager reports directly to this position, and together, they will collaborate to deliver effective communications plans. There will also be opportunities to work with the wider Orbis UK communications team on cross-departmental campaigns, appeals, and events, including VIP visits and integrated marketing campaigns.
This role encompasses communications planning, media relations, stakeholder management, reputation management, copywriting, and at times, event coordination. It requires strong relationship-building skills and the ability to manage projects across different teams and countries. The role is responsible for three key areas of work:
i) Overseeing the delivery of the media and PR strategy to increase brand awareness of Orbis within the UK and the Middle East through pitching and placement of high-quality media coverage, proactive PR initiatives and reactive press office opportunities within a range of publications that align with our target audiences and partnerships. This will include managing the Media and PR Manager, working with key stakeholders such as the Royal Press Office and key funding and programme partners, and supporting delivery of Orbis UK integrated marketing campaigns
ii) Implementing grant communication plans by creating content for website, social media and press activities for key partnerships
iii) Protecting the reputation of Orbis UK through crisis comms management 3

You'll have a proactive, and collaborative approach which will make sure our campaigning is joined up between the national and regional levels, and that our engagement activities are embedded across the organisation.
In this busy role, you'll co-ordinate our national campaigns activity, helping to lead RNIB's national campaigns activity and strategy, working closely with our Senior Campaigns Manager.
You'll be managing a Campaigns Officer and a Campaigns assistant, providing coaching and support to make our national campaigning as effective as possible.
You'll provide strong project management for our influencing campaigns, whether campaigning to protect disability benefits, or to make streets and transport more accessible for blind and partially sighted people, for example.
You will bring our campaigns to life in a way that embeds lived experience and tells the story effectively for sighted people, driving them to take action. You will own content for our 'campaigner' audience, making sure our communications are effective, whether someone is new to RNIB's campaigns or is already a committed campaigner ready to go the extra mile.
This role will ensure that lived experiences are integrated into our storytelling, and will seek creative ways to motivate decision-makers or the public to take action.
Day to day, you'll collaborate with other teams across Policy, Campaigns, and Social Action to maximise opportunities for driving change, and will make sure national campaigning is aligned with our local campaigning, working with our two Local Campaigns Leads.
You'll also join forces with colleagues in RNIB's Engagement directorate to get campaigning fully embedded in our engagement and volunteering supporter journeys.
You'll have experience of project managing campaign activities, with a strong attention to detail, and an instinct for crafting compelling calls to action. You'll bring expertise in digital campaigns, with an understanding of best practice in digital and social content, as well as how to monitor the effectiveness of our communications.
You'll have a good understanding of disability issues and the social model of disability, and awareness of issues affecting blind and partially sighted people.
You'll be comfortable with collaborating with colleagues within and outside your immediate team, leading on the implementation of projects and coordinating day to day tasks.
You'll have effective verbal and written communication skills, and knowledge of how to adapt your communications style to suit the audience.
This might be your first step into line management or you may bring some experience of managing colleagues or volunteers.
