Exciting opportunity to use your creative and marketing skills to help leading Christian child development charity Compassion UK release children from poverty in Jesus’ name.

About the role

As a Marketing Specialist, you’ll work within the fast-paced, vibrant and collaborative Communications department. An exceptional personal communicator with a broad range of marketing skills, good copy-writing abilities and strong project management skills, your focus will be delivering key marketing projects from brief to execution.

Working with stakeholder briefs to conceive and deliver creative. professional, cost-effective and targeted collateral for print and email, you’ll ensure work is delivered on time and within budget, in line with our mission and brand guidelines.

Additionally, you’ll be responsible for delivering our Internal Comms strategy, in partnership with the Marketing Manager and internal stakeholders. This includes exciting opportunities to grow and own a key area of communication, with tasks including producing a weekly e-shot of news, distribution of key policies, creation of inspirational collateral across a range of mediums, and liaising with stakeholders to deliver tailored messages both to the whole organisation and targeted groups.


  • Actively maintain and promote Compassion UK’s Christian ethos and values.
  • Support the wider marketing strategy with targeted and timely collateral.
  • Craft and inspire staff with Internal Communications collateral.
  • Support general communication needs.

About you

To flourish in this role, you’ll need:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar marketing role. You should have a solid understanding of marketing principles and be willing to apply your knowledge to steer projects and advise stakeholders on best practise.
  • Good project management skills. You must be able to demonstrate that you are a well-organised team player, able to illustrate your ability to initiate, monitor, and complete projects on time and on budget; with the ability to multi-task, meet tight deadlines, juggle multiple projects and stakeholders and prioritise according to organisational objectives.
  • Core office/administrative skills. You must have excellent working knowledge of office systems such as Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent writing skills. Previous experience of writing to inspire and compel a range of audience types into action.
  • Ability to produce a range of physical and digital marketing collateral. You should have previous experience of delivering creative, professional, cost-effective and targeted collateral for both print and email, within budget and agreed timeframes.
  • Applicable understanding of HTML and CSS in emails. You should have experience of applying HTML and CSS to style and set emails in a Content Management System (CMS).
  • Adobe Creative Cloud experience. You must be able to able to use Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically Photoshop and Illustrator, to deliver content and support on projects.
  • Proactive and can-do attitude. Having a posture of positivity and proactivity to ensure work is completed collaboratively and excellently.

 It would help (but isn’t essential) to have:

  • Experience working with external design agencies.
  • Qualification in Marketing or Communications.
  • Understanding of design aesthetics and knowledge of design and print processes.

Location & Benefits

This is a Fixed Term Maternity cover office-based role of up to one year or on the return of the post holder, 35 hours per week Monday – Friday at our modern, agile office in Fleet, Hampshire just a 15-minute walk from Fleet station. Free parking available on site.
