We are looking for a Direct Marketing Officer to join our growing Individual Giving team at Samaritans. This role will assist in the creation, management and implementation of key campaigns and projects to recruit and retain supporters maximising loyalty and lifetime value.
A valued member of the team – you’ll also contribute to individual giving projects while supporting larger, strategic initiatives led by the 2 x Senior Direct Marketing Officers in the team.

Contract
- £33,000 to £34,000 per annum plus benefits
- Full Time (35hrs per week)

- Hybrid working - Meeting in person and working collaboratively are things we value. This role is linked to our Ewell (Surrey) office with a blend of home working and office working.
- In-person working - at present, the team meet in the office 1-2 times per month.

About the role
You’ll manage a portfolio of business-as-usual (BAU) campaigns while supporting wider strategic activity, helping to maximise supporter lifetime value and grow income. This is an exciting opportunity to work across a variety of channels and collaborate with teams and agencies to deliver impactful campaigns.
What you’ll do
- Deliver end-to-end individual giving campaigns across channels such as direct mail, email, telemarketing, DRTV, face-to-face and digital acquisition (PPC and meta)
- Plan, execute and optimise campaigns, including segmentation, creative development, production and analysis
- Monitor performance and produce regular reporting, ensuring campaigns meet income and budget targets
- Work with internal teams and external agencies to deliver high-quality, compliant campaigns
- Support donor stewardship by ensuring timely and effective supporter thanking
- Contribute to campaign reviews and continuous improvement
- Help develop long-term strategies for individual giving and supporter growth
- Manage suppliers and agencies to ensure delivery on time and within budget
About you
You’re a proactive and detail-oriented campaign manager with a passion for delivering great supporter experiences. You enjoy working collaboratively and using data to inform decisions and improve performance.
You’re comfortable managing multiple projects and building strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and external partners.
What you will bring:
- Experience delivering individual giving or fundraising campaigns (multi-channel experience preferred)
- Strong organisational and project management skills
- Confidence using data and insights to inform campaign decisions
- Excellent communication skills, including copywriting and proofreading
- Experience working with agencies and external suppliers
- Collaborative approach and ability to manage competing priorities

Role Overview:
The Talent Set are delighted to partner with a leading charity organisation on a fantastic Individual Giving Officer role. This position offers an exciting opportunity to manage multi-channel campaigns, support supporter engagement, and contribute to vital income generation efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and deliver individual giving campaigns across online and offline channels, including direct mail, email, telemarketing, face-to-face, and digital acquisition.
- Support the planning, execution, and analysis of campaigns to meet income and expenditure targets.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to ensure timely and compliant campaign delivery.
- Maintain supporter relationships through quality communication, including thanking donors effectively.
- Contribute to the development of long-term donor strategies, using data insights to inform efforts.
- Assist with reporting, monitoring campaign performance, and supporting upcoming projects such as supporter journeys and appeals.
- Ensure all campaign activity aligns with organisational guidelines and best practices, including compliance and branding standards.
Person Specification:
- Proven experience in managing multi-channel direct marketing campaigns, particularly offline channels such as direct mail.
- Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to handle multiple campaigns simultaneously.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail in copywriting and proof-reading.
- Knowledge of data analysis and reporting tools to interpret campaign performance.
- Experience working with external suppliers and managing budgets.
- Comfortable working within a team-oriented, collaborative environment and able to adapt to a busy workload.
- A proactive approach, with the confidence to take the initiative and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Empathy and commitment to the organisation’s mission, with an understanding of supporter care principles.

In this role, you’ll be working on the In Memory programme within Individual Giving (IG) to inspire people to donate and engage them in a meaningful way, that reflects their unique motivation for supporting the charity. As part of the team, you’ll be innovative in a changing fundraising and cultural landscape, to achieve ambitious annual income targets.
You'll assist with and when required, project manage areas of the In Memory supporter journeys to drive acquisition and retention, ensuring supporters have the best possible experience.

Assist with and, when required, project manage direct marketing campaigns, both online and offline.

Support the Senior IG Officer in creating and delivering successful supporter journeys.

Manage relationships with creative, print and response handling agencies working on campaigns.

Support the Senior Individual Giving Officers in achieving strategic objectives, monitoring income and expenditure and using database analysis to inform and improve the individual giving programme (with a focus on the In Mem programme).

Integrate the direct marketing programme into Fundraising and Experience Directorate activities and support the overall Parkinson’s UK strategic plan.

Manage the administrative tasks for the Individual Giving team, such as processing invoices, ordering stock and updating key documents and materials both online and offline.
What you’ll bring

Proven experience of successfully scheduling and managing campaigns to deliver results against agreed objectives and targets.

Excellent copy-writing, creative and proofreading skills for both online and offline materials.

Experience of operating in a modern digital workplace, including using digital tools, platforms and techniques to work collaboratively and productively.

Ability to review and evaluate data and campaign results and pull out key trends to inform future work.
