For a complex global organisation undergoing significant change and transformation, we are recruiting a permanent Group Financial Controller. This role will lead all global financial accounting and statutory reporting. It will support the CFO and Global FD in the leadership and management of all financial accounting, including corporate statutory reporting across the Charity group and 40+ subsidiaries, month-end close and financial compliance, consolidation and balance sheet reporting, audit, short-term cash flow forecasting and working capital management including inter-company. Leading a large multi-disciplined team via 6 direct reports, the Group Financial Controller will also manage the performance of the offshore Managed Service Provider and SAP finance processes.

Main Duties:

• As part of the Finance Leadership Team, direct and manage finance staff globally
• Lead the improvement of the quality of the financial close processes in SAP and the accuracy of data
• Lead and deliver monthly reporting and insight on balance sheet for inclusion in MI
• Lead delivery of embedding and improving a new weekly 13-week cash-flow forecasts model

THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Finance and Administration Manager to lead on developing and maintaining our financial and organisational systems, enabling Makani to increase our impact on the lives of refugee women. 

Position: Finance and Administration Manager

Contract type: Permanent - but also open to applications on a consultant basis

Location: Home-based, with occasional meetings in London (transport costs covered)

KEY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Finance

• Prepare end-of-year accounts 

• Oversee payroll and ensure timely invoice payments

Administration & HR

• Support the board and senior staff to maintain and update charity policies (safeguarding, finance, HR, etc.)

• Support the board to develop HR processes to ensure legal compliance 

• Organise and minute quarterly trustee meetings

• Book travel and support with other logistics as needed

• Other administrative tasks as relevant and appropriate
   

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

You will have:

• Proven experience in charity financial management, including restricted/unrestricted funding

• Familiarity with or willingness to learn Xero accounting software

• Familiarity with UK charity accounting and reporting standards

• Strong organisational and administrative skills

• Ability to work independently and remotely and to communicate well in a small team

• Understanding of good HR policies and practice for small charities 

• Understanding of or willingness to learn about other key areas of compliance such as data protection

Together, the charities Sands and Tommy’s have formed a Joint Policy Unit (JPU) focussed on achieving policy change that will save more babies’ lives during pregnancy and the neonatal period and on tackling inequalities in loss, so that everyone can benefit from the best possible outcomes.

The JPU’s mission is to secure policy change that will reduce rates of miscarriage, stillbirth, pre-term birth and neonatal death, and to work to eliminate inequalities in these outcomes.

While there is widespread agreement on the need for change to improve the safety of maternity and neonatal services, what that change looks like is not clear.  To save more babies’ lives we believe that a continued focus is required, and that governments should set new commitments to reduce perinatal mortality and preterm births, focused on matching the best-performing countries in Europe.

This role will be crucial to the continued success of the JPU unit; leading, shaping and coordinating all the unit’s work. 

We are looking for an independent and assertive problem-solver, a policy expert who can manage multiple priorities, take the initiative, lead the national conversation and is as excited as we are about taking the helm of this venture for both of our organisations.

The successful candidate will need to have a substantial track record of effectively leading and implementing national policy and influencing programmes, driving change and achieving the desired impact.

You will have considerable experience across research, data analysis, policy development, public affairs and communications.  Additionally, you will be well-versed in research and data management, including analysing complex data and evaluating policy developments.

The Role

You will hold Strategic oversight over IPS Grow data analysis and business intelligence functions and, in collaboration with expert Digi colleagues, IPS Grow digital tools.

Key responsibilities include:

• Co-design a data and digital strategy and plan with colleagues across IPS Grow with support from Social Finance’s Data and Digital Community of Practice and other key stakeholders. Ensure it is delivered on time and to a high standard.

• Work closely with colleagues delivering the IPS Grow data tool to understand stakeholder data requirements and collaboratively review prioritisation in relation to the roadmap for the data tool.

The Team

IPS Grow is a national programme designed to support the expansion of Individual Placement and Support (IPS) services in mental health, primary care, and drug and alcohol teams across England. The programme is led by the organisation in partnership with the Centre for Mental Health. It is funded by NHS England and Improvement (NHSE/I), the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), and the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID).

A core element of the programme is the expert assistance provided by a team of IPS professionals, known as IPS Grow Leads, to support providers to improve their fidelity to the IPS model and achieve better employment outcomes for their clients.

About You

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate:

• Experience of designing and leading data strategy at a senior level. This encompasses how we collect and manage data, as well as using analysis to produce relevant and actionable insights
• Experience of successfully managing senior stakeholder relationships,  including communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences
• Expertise in Information Security and Governance and the associated standards and requirements when hosting and processing personal data on behalf of public sector organisations.
• Senior experience of leading data and analytics teams, including line and task management, and product management
• Expertise in the development and use of Customer Relationship Management systems, such as Salesforce
• Expertise in data analysis and business intelligence, including PowerBI, Tableau and/or similar analytics and data visualisation tools

About the role 

This is an exciting opportunity to join UKCF at a time of growth, ambition and innovation. We are looking for an interim Partnerships Officer to help us build and deliver impactful national partnerships that bring real, measurable benefits to communities across the UK. 

Initially for a period of six months, you will hit the ground running to pick up an existing portfolio of national programmes currently under delivery. You’ll lead on programme administration including design and delivery, as well as collaborating with UKCF finance and membership colleagues to collate and disseminate programme data for funders and internal stakeholders. 

In this client facing role, you will be responsible for administration and operational support in the development, delivery, and evaluation of high-value, strategic partnerships, whether with government departments, major trusts and foundations, corporate partners, or other longstanding partners. 

You’ll work closely with the Director of Partnerships & Insight and community foundations to deliver an existing portfolio of programmes and to shape strong proposals and administer the end-to-end implementation of new partnerships. 

You’ll also play a key role in helping UKCF and the wider network become more insight-led and data-driven, strengthening our approach to programme design, learning, and impact evaluation.

This role requires exceptional organisational, programme and project management skills. Experience in a trust or foundation, grantmaking, especially within programme design, is a bonus.

You will report to the Director of Partnerships & Insight and also work closely with the wider team including finance, membership and communications staff. 

Key responsibilities 

• Programme delivery and administration – Support the smooth running of national partnerships and programmes, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard. Maintain accurate financial and programme records, track deadlines, and make sure monitoring and reporting requirements are met. 

• Reporting and insight – Analyse programme data and contribute to clear, high-quality reports for funders, partners, and internal teams. Capture learning and examples of good practice to strengthen future programmes. 

• Collaboration and communication – Work closely with colleagues across UKCF, including communications, finance and membership, to ensure effective programme delivery. Provide timely advice and support to team members, community foundations, and funders, resolving queries quickly and accurately. 

• Relationships and improvement – Build and maintain strong, positive working relationships with funders, community foundations, and delivery partners. Identify opportunities to refine and improve processes to make delivery more efficient and impactful. 

Who we’re looking for: 

We’re seeking someone who is proactive, highly organised, confident with data, and comfortable juggling competing priorities while building strong relationships. You’ll bring experience in programme administration, accurate record-keeping, and reporting, with the ability to translate information into clear insights. Strong digital and technology skills are important, as is the ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external partners. Ideally, you’ll also have some experience in grant-making, process improvement, or using systems like Salesforce, but above all we’re looking for someone who is adaptable, curious, and motivated by UKCF’s values of inclusivity, collaboration, and ambition for communities. 

ROLE SUMMARY 

Reporting to the Director of Partnerships & Insight, this role is central to the effective day-to-day running of UKCF’s national partnerships and grant programmes. You will play a key role in keeping programmes on schedule and within budget, with strong administration and attention to detail at the heart of the position. At the same time, you will build and maintain positive working relationships with funders, community foundations, and colleagues across UKCF, acting as a reliable point of contact and ensuring information flows smoothly. This role is well suited to someone who enjoys balancing deadlines and detail with the opportunity to work alongside a wide range of people. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Under the supervision of the Director of Partnerships & Insight ensure the partnerships and programmes are delivered on time and in budget. 

• Administer the partnerships and programmes, keeping accurate records of funding allocated, spending by Community Foundations, and collating monitoring reports etc.

• Analyse partnership and programme data and contribute to reports for funders and internal teams. 

• Write and/or support with production of internal and external reports on delivery and impact. 

• Work closely with the UKCF Communications, Finance and Membership teams to deliver programmes.

• Develop and maintain quality relationships with delivery partners, including Community Foundations and funders. 

• Provide appropriate advice, guidance and support for grant applicants, Community Foundations or funders.

• Capture good practice and learning from grant recipients, Community Foundations and funders. 

• Identify refinements and improvements to our programmes

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED 

Essential: 

• Support and administration – accuracy/record keeping/ working to deadlines across multiple programmes and/or priorities 

• Customer service/relationship management

• Analysing information and producing or contributing to reports

• Working as part of a team

• Experienced with Microsoft Office, with strong excel skills 

Desirable: 

• Implementing new processes to streamline and improve delivery

About the role

The Lab is now working with Demos, a leading cross-party think tank and the Lloyds Bank Foundation on a collaborative project to celebrate community-led change across the country. The project will seek: (1) to connect an array of brilliant organisations creating new forms of public services and (2) write a narrative that puts this community-led innovation at the centre of broader efforts at rethinking how the state delivers for its citizens. The project will work with leaders across civil society, academia and the highest levels of politics to demonstrate the potential for community-led change to generate national renewal.

We are seeking a motivated individual to take on the role of Project Network Coordinator. They will report to the Director of the UCL Policy Lab and work closely with the team. The post is fixed term for the duration of nine months either full or part time with the possibility to be extended.

The post holder will be expected to work both at UCL but also on ad hoc occasions from the offices of our partner organisation, Demos.

The salary for this role is between £36,433 and £39,807 per anum dependent on experience and includes the London Allowance.

About you

The UCL Policy Lab wishes to appoint a Project Network Coordinator to help draw together representatives of a vast array of community-based organisations currently innovating in public service reform. The Coordinator will support the project team to develop a core coalition to drive forward the work. The individual will work closely with both the UCL Policy Lab team, Demos and other project partners in the oversight and delivery of events that bring these organisations together so that they can share their experiences and expertise. The individual will also help oversee and coordinate the programme of high-level private workshops exploring the policy implications of these organisations' activities, providing extensive service support to attendees as well as supporting the project to build up a wide network of key stakeholders.

The individual will be crucial to designing and delivering a high-quality experience for the participants as well as ensuring that the dialogue builds overtime and its richness is fully captured and shared with senior stakeholders. The individual will also run the sessions and assist the Lab with both research and administrative support in the run up to the events.

The post holder will report directly to the Lab's Director but also work closely with the Policy Lab team.

The post holder must be able to work flexibly, independently and proactively.

Duties and responsibilities

• Work with Lab leadership to recruit members for a new network of community-led public service innovators from across the UK
• Support Lab and Demos leaders engagement with senior stakeholders in the national government and the opposition, as well as the local movement, to help share findings and drive political impact.
• Build relationships with the key individuals in this sector to understand their contributions and concerns and be able to share them with others
• Assist with the delivery of engaging collaborative workshops for members of this network and the project team.
• Conduct interviews with network members and draft policy briefs and memos for circulation to the broader network and the policy team.
• Track and report impact from the network for internal purposes, marketing and various evaluation processes (e.g., writing website content, newsletters and contributing to final reports)
• Work with the UCL Policy Lab team to help deliver operational support for the activities of the project, including: contributing to shared infrastructure and tools; working with the Communications and Engagement manager to deliver wider impact; working with the Team to co-ordinate delivering of world class policy events, including our party conference programme.
• Manage a front of house team at events including PhD students or equivalent on short term placements.
• Follow and promote UCL policies, including Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), and maintain an awareness and observation of fire and health and safety regulations.
