Role Summary
This exciting role will enable Alcohol Change UK to reach millions of people across the UK with key messages about alcohol and alcohol harm, delivered through print, online, and broadcast media engagement tactics. With a high level of existing press interest in our work and campaigns (including our flagship Dry January® campaign), this is an exciting moment as we look to develop our proactive media engagement and share reframed stories about alcohol which resonate with a huge audience. Your work will drive significant awareness of our organisation, and ultimately enable millions of people to transform their relationship with alcohol.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Media engagement
-
Manage the organisation’s media inbox and phone line, handling enquiries from journalists and providing responses in a timely manner

Provide regular out of hours media cover on a rota basis (scaling depending on busier campaign periods, shared fairly with others and TOIL provided for hours worked)

Develop public media statements and quotes across the whole spectrum of Alcohol Change UK’s work, issuing to press both reactively and proactively

Provide ongoing development of our key lines library, regularly reviewing responses we have on file for a range of topics

Support Alcohol Change UK spokespeople (Chief Executive, Directors and others) prepare for interviews: developing tailored briefings ahead of opportunities, providing a sounding board to rehearse key lines when required and giving feedback on appearances to support ongoing development

Manage our media database and reporting tools, providing regular condensed reports for the Director of Communications and Marketing/CEO/Board and develop insights-gathering to better inform our media engagement strategy

With the Director of Communications and Marketing, play a key role in media crisis management, escalating issues as appropriate, suggesting solutions and developing organisational responses to sensitive situations

Support the deployment of Alcohol Change UK voices, working closely with the Engagement Team to identify Community Champions, Ambassadors and others who are happy to be supported to share their experiences of alcohol and alcohol harm with the media
Developing a new proactive media strategy

Plan and deliver a new strategy for generating proactive media coverage, where Alcohol Change UK’s research, campaigns, parliamentary and wider activity connect with larger audiences in a strategic way

Working closely with teams across the organisation, craft compelling media plans and press releases to generate coverage of our work

Bring fresh energy to opportunity spotting, securing opinion pieces, expert comment, letters to editors and other ‘newsjacking’ content – particularly on ‘culture change’ topics such as sober shaming and stigma

Manage relationships with key journalists in our sector, exploring opportunities for partnerships and exclusives
Campaign media activity

Particularly for our flagship Dry January® campaign, and with the support of the Director of Communications and Marketing, develop media support briefs for external media agencies, when required

Develop fresh strategies and media angles for annual campaigns (Dry January®, Sober Spring, Alcohol Awareness Week) to keep activity engaging for public and returning audiences

Think creatively to craft media strategies which are tailored to reach segmented audience groups, aligning with targets for individual campaigns to reach under-served communities

The role is within a small team that has a focus on Employer Relationships, Job Finding programmes (including our Alumni Job Club and Jobseekers Plus) In Work support for adults in Employment and Employer Training.

Key Responsibilities:
1. To lead on running our employability training and Alumni Job Club.
2. To develop workshop structures and learning materials for these in close collaboration with the Development Director and ensure that participant feedback from earlier programmes is incorporated.
3. To line manage Development Job Coaches as needed.
4. To manage and deliver job search sessions.
5. To lease with Employability Lead when participants are ready to move over in In Work Support team.
6. To advertise project opportunities to autistic people throughout London and manage project recruitment and onboarding.
7. To ensure processes are in-place for each project to:- assess each participant’s individual skills and gather baseline data; ensure job matches are appropriate to the individual’s needs and aspirations; and that targets set are relevant and promote new skills and learning; acquire and complete necessary risk assessments to ensure safety of clients, staff and partners.
8. To oversee the set up and settling in of jobseekers into work placements, when needed. Providing support and training to employers where required; providing personalised on the job training to participants and employers as required and develop strategies and advise on reasonable adjustments.
9. To coach, train and help manage new project staff to support jobseekers and put in place monitoring protocols.
10. To ensure jobseekers are progressing towards their individual targets; understand protocols and interpret work culture correctly; understand the health & safety in the work environment and adopt appropriate workplace behaviour.
11. To ensure good working relationships are maintained with all employers/ work experience placements and that feedback is regularly sort from all stakeholders to help improve our service delivery and future opportunities.
12. As a key member of the Development Team to work closely with the Development Director to actively, engage with employers and external organisations to promote CareTrade and our job seekers and to pursue opportunities to work collaboratively.
13. To attend events, to market CareTrade to autistic jobseekers and to liaise with Disability Employment Advisors at JobCentre Plus, Disability Services teams, Social Workers and others to promote and support employment opportunities as needed.
14. To organise and promote social groups for jobseekers.
15. To collect data and use data analysis to help produce reports, internally, for funders and partners.
16. To help seek and apply for appropriate awards and grants when required.
17. To be a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and First Aider and complete regular training working alongside the Development Director to ensure the safety of participants and staff.
18. To complete relevant health and safety training and be a named fire marshal.

Internews seeks an experienced Project Director for a four-year European Commission (EC)-funded project to advance the global response to increasing the resilience of at-risk independent media. The Project Director will lead and manage a consortium of four international NGO and academic implementing partners, overseeing and coordinating the design and implementation of a diverse portfolio of activities in multiple countries worldwide, as well as project monitoring and evaluation and a robust learning agenda. Strong skills in project financial management and communications are required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Lead the Inception Phase of the project, working closely with consortium members, the EC, and other awardees to finalize target country selection, select research initiatives, draft the project workplan and monitoring and evaluation plan, and determine country-based activities.
· Serve as Internews’ primary point of contact with the European Commission, establishing and managing strong partnerships and dialogue with EC representatives in Brussels as well as country-level delegations.
· Effectively manage the project consortium, ensuring transparent communication processes and protocols.
· Pro-actively coordinate activity design and management with Internews Regional and Thematic Directors who manage Internews programming in key geographic regions and technical areas.
· Provide strategic, operational and representational assistance to ensure that activities are meeting their goals and targets, recommending program adjustments when necessary to keep the project on track;
· Regularly travel to London and Brussels, as well as target countries, for project and donor management purposes;

Inter Mediate
Inter Mediate (IM) is a unique and discreet London-based peacemaking organisation established in 2011 to support behind-the-scenes peace negotiations in some of the world’s most challenging conflicts. This role offers an exciting opportunity to join the senior management team of a small high-impact organisation working at the leading edge of international peacemaking.
Reporting to the Deputy CEO and working closely with the CEO and the Financial Director, the Operations Manager will lead Inter Mediate’s institutional, Human Resources and project-support systems to keep the organisation running smoothly and ensure we are equipped to deliver the best results.
A successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter with senior management experience in operations, preferably for a non-profit organisation. You will be familiar with the fast and sometimes unpredictable pace of an international operating environment, and confident in handling challenges as they arise. You will be comfortable working collaboratively within a small team and engaging credibly with a wide range of people from senior government officials to project interlocutors in the field.
Key Responsibilities
A) Governance and Institutional Compliance (with the Deputy CEO and senior management)
- Lead the development and implementation of IM’s operational planning, in coordination with the CEO, Deputy CEO, Finance Director, staff, Trustees and supporters.
- Ensure that Inter Mediate complies with its charitable and legal obligations.
- Prepare, attend and minute Trustee and Committee meetings.
- Develop and implement quality improvement process for institutional policies and project delivery to keep Inter Mediate ethical, efficient and delivering value for money.
- Source, manage and review all professional services and suppliers engaged by Inter Mediate including banking, legal advice, accounting and auditing.
B) Human Resources and Office Operations
- Oversee Inter Mediate’s recruitment process and work with the Deputy CEO to ensure that we have fair procedures for benefits, training, probation, diversity and inclusion, gender pay gap, safeguarding, grievance and disciplinary matters.
- Oversee the contracting and on-boarding for new staff, consultants and trustees.
- Manage day-to-day HR functions and queries, including leave recording systems.
- Conduct staff remuneration and salary benchmarking exercises with the Deputy CEO.
- Update and maintain the employment handbook policies and procedures.
- Oversee office operations, equipment and facilities management.
C) IT, Security and Risk Management
- Ensure that the IT and communications systems are optimally configured for effectiveness and security, and that staff can operate them as necessary.

- Ensure Risk Assessments and security plans are completed by staff prior to staff travel.
- Ensure Inter Mediate has a viable business continuity plan.

D) Financial Management (with the Finance Director)
- Work closely with the Finance Director to ensure that operational and financial planning processes and decisions are mutually informed and fully aligned.
- Strategise with the Finance Director and Deputy CEO to ensure all wings of the organisation work together to advance the best interest of the institution, its staff, projects and donors.
Experience, qualifications and skills:
- At least 8 years experience leading charity operations at a senior level spanning institutional compliance, Human Resources, IT, security and project support services, ideally in the non-profit sector.
- Track record of excellent business decisions for institutions under UK charity law operating in an international, multi-donor environment.
- Extensive experience of supporting Boards and Board committees at a senior level in a non-profit context.
- Some knowledge of project support mechanisms required for smooth delivery of peacebuilding, humanitarian, human rights or political projects in high-risk environments.
- Evidence of ability to both lead and service a complex network of external relationships.
- Graduate with a relevant degree and, preferably with relevant post graduate qualifications or relevant experience.

Working at Inter Mediate
A normal working week consists of 35 hours (or pro rata for part-time). Our office operates between 8am and 6.30pm with core hours from 9.00am to 5.00pm. Inter Mediate operates a hybrid working model, with at least 2 set days per week in the office in London.

About You:
Having worked in a third sector direct marketing role previously, you will have experience running effective national and regional campaigns using a variety of fundraising channels including digital, email, social media, direct mail, and telemarketing. You will have knowledge of usability testing, user research methods and conversion rate optimisation as well as an understanding of fundraising regulator guidance, gambling commission compliance and GDPR.
About The Role
- Manage the delivery of all Retention campaigns from concept through to evaluation, using data and insight to drive creative and production, drawing up schedules, and managing the approval processes
- Work collaboratively with data teams to ensure effective use of supporter profiling for delivery across a range of Retention campaigns
- Manage relationships with external agencies including media houses, designers and printers; to negotiate costs and relevant performance reviews
- Responsibility for collation of all KPI tracking, trend analysis and activity results that feed into the team’s reporting and performance structure

HALO has been working in Angola since 1994, and now employs over 1,400 staff (47% women) working in demining, explosive ordnance risk education, and conservation. There are over 70 different types of landmines in Angola from an estimated 41 years of minelaying during the war for independence and civil war which persisted from 1961 to 2002. The programme currently has twenty ongoing contracts from a diverse set of institutional, private, and corporate donors. As a signatory of the Ottawa Treaty, HALO supports the Government of Angola in reaching its treaty obligations. To date, HALO has cleared over 100,000 mines and made over 25km2 of land safe for use across the country.

About the role:
HALO is seeking a dynamic and solution-oriented Country Head to lead the strategic direction of the programme in accordance with HALO’s organisational mission and goals. The Country Head will lead a senior leadership team of six mid-level managers who work across mine action operational delivery, environmental project delivery, human resources, finance, strategy, support services and a Chief of Staff. They will work in partnership with the Regional Director, Deputy Regional Director, and other HQ functional leads. The Country Head will serve as the legal and primary HALO representative in Angola and be accountable for the programme’s staff and assets, the execution of donor projects and relations with local authorities and partners.
The Country Director is responsible for leading the strategic direction of the programme, including the design, review, and implementation of the programme’s strategy in accordance with HALO’s organisational objectives and charitable purpose. This includes establishing long-term strategic goals for the programme and developing the capacity and strength of the existing team. The Angola programme has projects spanning across two of HALO’s three strategic goals and is especially focused on the expansion of activities surrounding women’s empowerment and inclusivity, and the linkages between conflict, conservation and mine action. The successful candidate to this role will be a strategic thinker, who can demonstrate previous experience successfully building capacity to achieve strategic objectives.
The Angola programme currently has twenty ongoing contracts from a variety of governmental, private, and commercial donors with an annual turnover of circa $16 million. The Country Head will oversee and lead the two programmatic Heads responsible for execution and delivery donor projects: Head of Mine Action, and Head of Environment. The Country Head will ensure that the other senior managers provide the necessary support to the programmatic Heads to ensure they have the resources, capacity and support required to operate in an effective and compliant manner. The successful candidate will need to have exceptional liaison skills as they work closely with the Head of Strategy to maintain and foster critical stakeholder relationships in Angola, specifically with the Government of Angola as the programmes’ largest donor. The Country Head will also need exceptional organisational and financial acumen as they are accountable for the programme’s financial and legal compliance with internal and national policies and legislation.
The successful candidate will need to be an inspiring leader, capable of managing the large and diverse workforce with a focus on empowerment, communication, and professional development. The Country Director will be needed to work on improving processes and procedures with a desire to lead on implementing impactful systematic change. Key Responsibilities:

Royal British Legion Industries Ltd. (RBLI) is both a charity and a company limited by guarantee. The trustees of RBLI are therefore responsible for oversight of the organisation under both charity and company law. They are they legal directors, as determined by company law and the Articles of Association. The day to day running of RBLI is the responsibility of the Chief Executive and the Senior Leadership Team (SLT). This role, which reports to the Director of Governance, Compliance & Business Systems, supports the board of trustees and the SLT in all areas of governance.
Overview of the Role & Team:
RBLI is a diverse and complex organisation, with divisions that cover social care, property management, estates management, welfare and employment solutions, manufacturing, and marketing / fundraising. There are also several support functions including people and culture, finance and performance, business systems, and risk and compliance. This role is an essential part of the change process currently ongoing across RBLI.
The team is overseen by the Director of Governance, Compliance and Business Systems. Key working relationships include the board of trustees, the SLT, Assistant Directors, the Strategic Assistant, the wider Governance & Compliance Division, and the support functions.
Your Key Responsibilities:
Governance:
- Oversight of all board and sub-committee meetings, ensuring there is an efficient and effective structure to achieve organisational objectives including the review and maintenance of all terms of reference.

About the role
This role is responsible for managing and developing the charity’s portfolio of Trusts and Foundations, securing significant gifts and growing the long-term potential of this portfolio (target for 2024 is £378,000). There are no direct reports, however the successful candidate will be expected to work closely with Senior Management Teams, other departments and stakeholders to build and develop cases for support to help fund our much-needed work.
The successful candidate will utilise their expert writing skills to shape those cases for support into compelling, high-quality proposals and reports.
Being able to build relationships with a wide range of audiences including funders is key. Inspiring them to support kidney patients across the UK and engage with the kidney community, enabling them to tell their stories and better communicate how larger Trust grants can make a real difference for people with chronic kidney disease.
A dynamic, self-motivated, ambitious and pro-active fundraiser is required for this role, demonstrating enthusiasm for the projects and services we are seeking funds to support.
About you
The ideal candidate for this role will have experience and a proven track record of successful income generation and delivering against targets.
You will have demonstratable experience in researching potential Trust funders, submitting compelling proposals, securing funding and project managing successful bids through to completion of the grant award.
You will also have a background in report writing and demonstrating grant impact whilst being able to build relationships with funders, individual/major donors and senior stakeholders.
Experience of providing excellent supporter care, building mutually beneficial long-term relationships with funders is a must for this role.
Key responsibilities
Research and process management
• Work closely with our Director of Patient Support Services (Patient Grants, Hospital Grants, Advocacy and Counselling) to fully understand our work, and with our Director of Finance to fully understand the costs of delivering our work
• Build strong cases for support, ensuring that you have all the information needed to create compelling proposals and reports for high and mid-value funders
• Research and identify prospective Trusts and Foundations and other grant giving bodies
• Grow and maintain a strong Trust funding pipeline, creating new Trust prospects for our priority funding areas
• Develop our long-term Trusts and Foundations strategy, and agree ongoing budgets and targets for this income stream
• Maintain accurate records including tracking and analysing opportunities, results, and outcomes
Fundraising
• Identify and manage a pipeline of high-value prospects and opportunities which have the potential of delivering five and six figure grants
• Work with colleagues across Kidney Care UK to develop and submit high-value and high-quality Trust and Foundation bids for a range short, medium and long term projects
• Develop relationships with the Senior Management Team and other key stakeholders across the charity maximising every opportunity for cultivation and development
• Plan and organise opportunities for funders to view Kidney Care UK’s work first-hand, ensuring all safeguarding procedures are followed and met.
Reporting
• Compile comprehensive and compelling progress reports to feed back to grant makers in a timely fashion and incentivise continued support
• Alongside the Director of Finance prepare accurate budgets detailing spending of specific grants
• Draw down on any multi-year grants as outlined in our annual budget
