The Service provides floating key work support sessions to Care Leavers who predominantly entered the UK either as Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children or as Survivors of Human Trafficking, with an aim to improve their independence skills, community integration, self-confidence and mental health.

Location of the post:

You will be based in our Crystal Palace office (SE19 3BG) with the requirement to regularly visit our 7supported living accommodation sites located across Sutton and Croydon. Between visits, you have the option to work flexibly from our office and from home. 

Hours:

29.6 hours across 4 days. Hours of work can be flexible to suit you, between the hours of 9am – 7pm. Occasional cover may be required on weekends to meet the needs of the service.

Some of the key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• To manage all areas of service provision including all aspects of key performance indicators outlined by commissioners across contracts in different Local Authorities.
• To manage a multidisciplinary team of professionals by providing supervision, practice development sessions, team meetings, ongoing practice advice and monitoring and evaluation of all aspects of our recording policy.
• To provide professional support to staff team members as well as other Team Managers within the Positive Futures theme. This includes support and advice around safeguarding matters, analytical thinking and constant risk assessment.
• To complete regular monitoring reports in line with the contract specifications for each Local Authority where we deliver services.
• To attend regular monitoring meetings where you will present feedback of the service provision including details of cases, safeguarding concerns, practice advice and finance compliance.
• Working with the Children's Service Manager to grow and develop the services in line with Barnardo's corporate strategy of Positive Futures and based on the needs of Children and Young People.
• Actively promoting Children and Young People's participation in the service as well as seeking their feedback in order to incorporate a constantly evolving service delivery.

Essential Requirements to evidence in your application:

• At least 2 years' experience in managing a service/team aimed at supporting children/young people.
• An in depth understanding of leaving care, how to support young people transition to independence and the issues they may face.
• Demonstrable record of good working practice with children & young people.
• Ability to build strong relationships with other social care professionals and housing associations.
• Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
• Strong IT skills and the ability to accurately record information.
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.

About the role

We are looking for two exceptional Heads of Philanthropy to join our team to significantly increase philanthropic income for faculty fundraising priorities across King’s College London.Within your application, please indicate which position you are applying to, or if you are happy to be considered for both positions.

One role will lead the Health, Science & Technology philanthropy team, and the other will lead the Arts & Social Sciences philanthropy team. Candidates will need to demonstrate curiosity and genuine interest in the academic areas that fall within the role, and work in partnership with King’s experts and other stakeholders to be successful.

King’s has an ambition to significantly scale philanthropic income for Faculties as we prepare to launch our next major fundraising and engagement campaign in 2027 and mark the university’s bicentenary in 2029. There is currently at least one major gift fundraiser working in each Faculty. Working closely with the Associate Director, Faculty Philanthropy, the postholder will play a pivotal role in developing and growing the major gift fundraising function. They will be responsible for leading and nurturing a team of high value fundraisers to secure gifts at the £50k level and above.

We are looking for someone with a proven track-record of developing new, high value relationships, with experience of closing gifts at the six- and seven- figure level. They will need to demonstrate that they understand what is required to build and scale prospect portfolios. They should be intellectually curious and energised by the depth and breadth of King’s academic expertise, with particular interest and passion to work with senior university leaders and academics to secure funding for a range of priorities across either the Arts and Social Sciences, or Health, Science & Technology portfolio.

Working closely with the Associate Director, Faculty Philanthropy, the postholder will play a pivotal role in developing and growing the major gift fundraising function in advance of the launch of the university’s next public fundraising campaign. They will be responsible for leading and nurturing a team of high value fundraisers to secure gifts at the £50k level and above.

This is a full time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite  contract. P&A has a hybrid working approach, with a minimum of 40% of time in the office, on King’s campuses or meeting donors externally. Typically, this equates to two days per week, but we’re very happy for colleagues to be in more frequently if they so wish.

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

2. Strong leadership skills, with experience of managing a high-performing fundraising or major gifts fundraising team
3. The ability to negotiate throughout a large, complex environment with multi-dimensional points of view
4. Ability to plan strategically and implement those plans
5. Proven track record in establishing, monitoring, and achieving demanding targets, including income and activity metrics
6. Confidence and experience of working effectively with, and influencing, senior stakeholders
7. Excellent communication skills, including an ability to write and speak eloquently and to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders of all backgrounds

We are looking for someone with impressive programme management and change management experience, who can lead through others. Someone who is both attentive to detail, and an expert communicator. 

You will lead a team of four experts in project and event management, who support clinicians and specialist advisors to deliver truly impactful programmes, projects and networks, with and for the hospice sector. 

You’ll shape our approach to programme management across the team, developing and embedding ways of working that give our work consistency, quality and meaningful results. 

You will also spearhead the delivery of two new, vital programmes of work - supporting the wellbeing and professional development of the hospice workforce, and improving access to quality hospice care for people experiencing socio-economic disadvantage.

Perhaps you’re working in the charity and/or healthcare sector already, or you might bring senior programme management experience from other fields. 

Either way, you’ll become part of a close, 17-strong Programmes Team at Hospice UK. We work together and alongside external experts, to design and deliver evidence-based programmes, projects and events, which help hospices provide the very best care in their communities.
