Your role

We are seeking a Finance & Operations Leader to lead Design for Good’s finance, operations and organisational effectiveness, combining strategic thinking with hands-on delivery.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director (MD), you will lead the organisation’s core finance, operational and enabling functions, ensuring we have the financial and operational infrastructure, people systems and governance frameworks needed to deliver our mission.

This is a hands-on senior leadership role, suited to someone who is both strategically minded and operationally confident — a collaborative leader who can lead suppliers, strengthen systems and financial processes, and take ownership of day-to-day operational delivery in a growing global charity.

Key Responsibilities

Financial leadership, planning and sustainability

● Support the MD in developing the annual organisational budget and take overall responsibility for financial performance, controls and processes.

● Work closely with the external accountants to ensure timely and accurate management accounts, annual accounts, financial reports, forecasts reporting for the MD, Board and Finance Committee.

● Take ownership of cash-flow forecasting, reserves management, financial planning and financial controls to support the organisation’s long-term financial sustainability.

● Ensure compliance with Charity Commission requirements, Companies House requirements (for any trading subsidiary) and charity SORP accounting standards.

● Lead the annual independent examination process and manage relationships with external auditors/examiners and other financial advisers.

● Oversee payroll, pensions, VAT returns and day-to-day financial administration, working closely with the external accounts team.

● Oversee restricted fund accounting, ensuring accurate tracking of grant expenditure, compliance with funder requirements and timely financial reporting.

Operations, systems and organisational effectiveness

● Lead and strengthen the organisation’s operational infrastructure, ensuring systems, processes and ways of working are effective, efficient and fit for purpose.

● Maintain an overall organisational plan, coordinating priorities, timelines and dependencies across the organisation.

● Identify and implement opportunities to improve organisational systems, operational processes and internal coordination to strengthen effectiveness and support sustainable growth.

● Oversee the day-to-day running of the organisation, including office management, IT systems, supplier contracts and operational compliance.

● Ensure the organisation’s IT and digital systems effectively support current and future organisational needs, including identifying and implementing opportunities for AI to improve efficiency and support organisational goals.

● Lead procurement and contract management, ensuring value for money, appropriate controls and effective supplier relationships.

● Lead financial and operational planning for key organisational activities, including the logistics and delivery of major events.

● Oversee joiner and leaver processes, ensuring a consistent, compliant and effective experience and that all required processes are correctly followed.

Governance, risk & compliance

● Lead the management, monitoring and reporting of the organisational risk register, ensuring key risks are actively managed and appropriately reported to the Board and relevant sub-committees.

● Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements, including employment law, GDPR, health and safety and charity law.

● Act as the organisational lead for data protection, ensuring effective and compliant data protection practices across the organisation.

● Provide the Company Secretary function, including preparing Board papers and minutes, supporting the administration of the Finance and Risk Committees, and maintaining statutory registers and records.

● Work closely with the Chairs of the Finance and Risk Committees to support effective Board oversight of financial, operational and organisational risks.

● Ensure organisational policies are kept up to date, appropriately reviewed and approved by the Trustees.

Key Requirements

● Demonstrable experience in a senior finance and operations leadership role within a charity, not-for-profit, public or values-led organisation.

● Strong experience leading organisational operations and enabling functions, including finance, governance, compliance, IT and organisational infrastructure.

● Strong financial management experience, including budgeting, forecasting, management accounting, financial controls, audit processes and financial planning.

● Experience contributing to organisational strategy, operational planning and decision-making as part of a senior leadership team.

● Good understanding of governance, organisational risk management and regulatory compliance within a charity or not-for-profit environment.

● Experience working in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities, complexity and operational risk while maintaining a high standard of delivery.

Every day, children are learning about money - through what they see, hear, and experience - but not all of it builds confidence or choice. By supporting parents, carers, and educators to teach money in ways that are simple, practical, and engaging, we make financial learning part of everyday life. JFF currently operates within the Church Urban Fund (CUF) group, which has supported our development and provides a number of shared services. We are now preparing to become an independent charity and this new role will play a central part in making that transition work.

Working closely with our Director and trustees, you will help coordinate the move to independence while building the governance, systems and ways of working we need as a small, well-run charity.

This is a broad, hands-on role for someone who enjoys making organisations work better. You might be keeping a complex transition plan moving, supporting effective Board governance, improving an operational process, working through an issue with a supplier or adviser, or helping the Director make sense of a complex organisational question.

You won’t need to be an expert in everything. What matters is that you have strong operational judgement, can bring clarity to complexity, know when to involve specialist expertise, and are comfortable taking responsibility for getting things done.

We are particularly interested in people with significant experience in governance, operations or organisational management who can work confidently with senior leaders, trustees, advisers and external partners. Experience in a charity or purpose-led organisation, or of organisational change or separation, would be an advantage.

Purpose of the Fundraising Department

The International Fundraising Department within Greenpeace International (GPI) ensures a clear focus on global income opportunities and challenges in partnership with National and Regional Offices (NROs). The department manages global fundraising sources, contributes to and coordinates global fundraising work, provides strategic focus for GPI fundraising specialists, and provides senior strategic guidance and leadership across the Greenpeace Network. 

Purpose of role

The International Philanthropy Manager is accountable for designing and implementing the Global Fundraising Strategy as it relates to major giving, including strategic partnerships, institutional funders, individual major donors, legacies, and capital campaigns. This role leads the teams behind major global initiatives, including a €100 million capital campaign for a new ship and the Priority Global Funders strategy—while providing strategic leadership, support, and advice to both Greenpeace International and independent National and Regional Organisations (NROs).

Primary responsibilities

Global fundraising strategy

● Lead and manage the design and implementation of the Global Fundraising Strategy as it relates to major giving, including strategic partnerships with institutional funders and individual major donors, legacy, and capital campaigns.

● Accountable for the design and implementation of the Key Relationships area of the Global Fundraising Strategy, including tracking and monitoring the success of its implementation.

● Lead, advise, and support the work done by GPI fundraising staff and NRO leaders in the key relationships area.

● Collaborate across GPI functions and departments to ensure alignment and integration of the Key Relationships Strategy with other organisational objectives, strategies, and plans.

People management

● Lead, manage and develop a multidisciplinary team of fundraising managers and coordinators across various areas of high value fundraising.

● Provide task management and direction to staff from other areas of International Fundraising and across GPI departments who contribute to fundraising deliverables. 

● Drive team performance through objective setting, performance reviews, coaching and development to ensure fundraising objectives are met.

National and Regional Organisation (NROs) support

● Oversee strategic and operational support provided to NROs to build the fundraising capacity and expertise required to deliver ambitious fundraising strategies and goals based on the respective market potential.

● Provide strategic advice and support to NROs for the development of the philanthropy and legacy elements of their 3-Year Strategic Plans and their annual organisational development plans.

● Support NROs in recruiting and onboarding experienced fundraising directors and strategic fundraising roles.

Communities and stakeholders

● Strengthen the fundraising director’s community of practice alongside fellow Strategic Fundraising Managers and the International Fundraising Director to foster a collaborative space for addressing global fundraising challenges and opportunities.

● Facilitate regular exchanges with other key leadership communities (such as Engagement and Programme Leaders) in areas of joint interest. 

● Build strong working relationships with colleagues and internal and external stakeholders to represent Greenpeace’s interests and enable effective cooperation and knowledge-sharing across fundraising areas.

● Foster collaboration with cross-functional departments (such as Development, Technology, Finance and Programme) to co-design and implement highly engaging campaigns with strong fundraising potential and deliver robust proposals for key funders.

Financial, policy, and systems management

● Ensure the effective budgeting, management, and expenditure of internal resources.

● Oversee the budgeting and reconciliation of income from Priority Global Funders, individual major donors, and legacy gifts to GPI. 

● Serve as the product owner for the key relationships CRM.

● Hold responsibility for the development and implementation of global policies related to key relationships fundraising.

Skills and qualifications

● Significant (7 years +) experience in a senior fundraising management role with a focus on philanthropy, of which at least four years leading international teams.

● Experience leading a capital campaign.

● Strong leadership abilities with experience building and developing exceptional teams to achieve fundraising goals.

● Strong track record of developing successful global proposals for large funders.

● Track record of leading the design and implementation of impactful global fundraising strategies.

● Track record of developing and delivering cross-functional fundraising strategies with multiple fundraising techniques.

Natural Capital Assessment Partnership

The Natural Capital Assessment Partnership (NCAP) has operated for over 30 years. Formerly the Habitat Biodiversity Audit, a key remit of NCAP has been to survey and gather habitat data across Warwickshire, Coventry and Solihull, combining ecological field surveys with pioneering satellite imagery and remote sensing analysis. A second key aspect of NCAP’s work is managing the Local Wildlife Sites programme for the region.

Data acquired and produced by the team supports Local Wildlife Site designations, Local Nature Recovery Strategy development and monitoring, and creates baseline habitat reports and statistics.  This localised yet UK-leading dataset provides robust evidence for decision-making and monitoring, plus a unique record of land-use change over the past two decades. Combined with Biological Records Centre species data, it offers an unrivalled picture of the local state of nature.

NCAP is funded by local authorities, managed by Warwickshire Wildlife Trust and hosted by Warwickshire County Council.

As our Lead Trainer and Assessor, you will play a key role in equipping professionals across policing, health, social care, housing, education, the specialist domestic abuse sector and beyond with the skills, knowledge and confidence to provide effective responses to domestic abuse. Through the development and delivery of high-quality training programmes, you will help ensure that victims, survivors and their families receive the right support at the right time.

Working closely with colleagues across the Training and Development Team, associate trainers, commissioners and external partners, you will lead on the delivery, assessment and quality assurance of accredited and non-accredited training programmes. You will develop engaging training materials that place lived experience at the heart of learning, support the development of new training offers in response to emerging sector needs, and contribute to SafeLives' reputation as a leader in domestic abuse training and professional development.

We're looking for someone with excellent facilitation, communication and relationship-building skills, alongside strong knowledge of domestic abuse and experience of working with victims, survivors and their families. You'll be confident delivering training to a range of audiences, committed to creating engaging learner experiences, and motivated by the opportunity to improve practice and outcomes for those affected by domestic abuse.

Last year alone, we delivered more than 700 sessions to over 15,000 learners across the UK in policing, health, housing, justice, education and the specialist sector. And we have reached 90,000 adult and 100,000 child survivors through programmes designed and delivered with partners.

By participating in the scheme Approved Provider units affirm their dedication to excellent care, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement. The accreditation of units is then published for families, individuals and professionals to help inform their choices when identifying suitable provision for brain injury survivors. Our accreditation process is designed to be collaborative and supportive, guiding units through every step towards achieving and maintaining exemplary service standards.

The role will involve, conducting and writing assessments and working with the Approved Provider and Training Manager to manage Lead Assessors, who are based around the UK and the Service User Perspective Assessors, who are either brain injury survivors, or family members/ carers.

What you will do:

• Conduct Approved Provider assessments, which includes going into brain injury residential units and assessing the services they provide and making recommendations, to improve practice against the framework.
• Writing and reviewing reports for Approved Provider units, following assessments, that clearly highlight strengths and areas for development.
• Contributing to the development and growth of Headway UK’s Approved Provider scheme, by continuing to drive forward standards and onboarding new units.
• Working with freelance Lead Assessors and Service User Perspective Assessors (who are brain injury survivors or family members) who are based around the UK, to organise assessments and ensure the schemes standards are upheld.

About you

We’re open-minded and welcome all applicants who believe they can succeed. Though ideally, you will have:

• Prior experience of working in the field of acquired brain injury.
• Relevant professional qualification (e.g. occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, clinical psychology, physiotherapy, nursing, social work).
• Ability to write and moderate written reports of high quality and clarity, to provide accurate and accessible feedback.
• Very good IT skills, including be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams).
• Ability to gain the trust, confidence, and respect at all levels within external organisations and staff groups.
• Be an excellent communicator, with new and existing Approved Provider units.

The role

Lead the growth and delivery of Cruse's External Training & Consultancy programme, combining business development, customer relationship management, and delivery oversight to make Cruse the leading provider of bereavement training in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

You will be responsible for managing our external training programme. The programme has been delivering high-quality grief and bereavement training to over 370 external organisations and thousands of individuals for the past ten years. This role will be responsible for sourcing, planning and managing customer engagements, and ensuring Cruse is the leading training provider for loss and bereavement in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

You will be responsible for developing a sales and marketing strategy, targeting relevant organisations and selling our training products. You will be overseeing the organisation of training sessions and then handing over to one of our trainers to deliver the sessions, providing support where needed, monitoring and acting on feedback, and always ensuring a consistently high standard of customer service.
