In this role you will work as part of our Opportunities Team to invite people into the community of generous Christian givers in the UK and serve UK Churches with support services and giving needs. You will attend events, speak on behalf of Stewardship and deliver content with excellence. Context of Job

AFK is a national charity creating opportunities for children and young people who are disabled or neurodiverse, to increase their independence, reach their individual potential and remove the barriers they face. Our vision is a world where there are no barriers to independence for children and young people who are disabled or neurodiverse. As part of this we provide bespoke employment skills training and organise work experience across North London.  

At a national level, we provide mobility equipment not available on the NHS for disabled children and young people up to the age of 25.

Overall Job Purpose

To support young people aged 18+ with a range of disabilities/neurodiversity to progress towards and into employment. The role will be to primarily liaise with employers and brokering new opportunities for supported and unsupported employment. You will also work with young people assessing their employability skills and place young people into employment, some voluntary roles and work placements. Specialist one to one job coaching will be required to enable young people to progress towards their own goals and objectives.

Working Conditions

The post is 35 hours a week, normally 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday. The post holder may be expected to work some evenings and weekends as required by the job.

5. Provide training and guidance to employers as needed to support inclusive employment practices.

Individual Support & Coaching

1. Deliver intensive one-to-one support to individuals across all aspects of employment preparation and progression.
2. Work with up to two YP at a time, in collaboration with their Employment Coach (EC), to identify and support their employment aspirations.
3. Assess and advise on financial implications related to part-time employment and disability benefits for individuals.
4. Support YP in developing employment-related skills and connect them with relevant training opportunities.
5. Provide initial workplace support to YP before transitioning ongoing support to their EC.
6. Refer YP to specialist services for additional advice and support when appropriate.

About the Department/ Team 

RUSI’s Proliferation and Nuclear Policy (PNP) programme addresses issues raised by the development and spread of nuclear, chemical and biological weapons, and related technologies, through innovative research, dialogue and partnership with national and international bodies.

Main purpose of post  

The PONI Project Manager will be responsible for delivery and development of the United Kingdom Project on Nuclear Issues (UK PONI), a flagship project for the PNP programme. Since 2009, UK PONI has helped to address the nuclear policy and technology challenges of tomorrow by developing and sustaining emerging nuclear specialists from industry, academia, government, and the military, and by connecting them with established experts. Its goal is to build a vibrant and diverse community of well-informed, well-connected and capable nuclear specialists in the UK. 

To do this, it seeks to connect across boundaries, be they technical-policy, senior-junior, government and non-government, military-civilian, pro- and anti-nuclear, and internationally; it looks at ways it can help members of the nuclear community develop their knowledge and skills, including by promoting diversity of inclusion and representation; and it provides a platform for emerging talent, principally through its Annual Conference and through the UK PONI blog, Nuclear Reactions. UK PONI has great growth potential, and RUSI’s goal for the PM is to realise this by taking responsibility for driving the project forward, expanding funding and its membership, while maintaining the high standards of the existing programme and our established relationships.

Key tasks  

The Project Manager will: 

• Oversee and implement the UK PONI strategy, ensuring effective delivery and alignment with the wider Proliferation and Nuclear Policy (PNP) programme. 

• Develop and implement communications and engagement strategies for the UK PONI community and funders, including managing newsletters, social media channels, and marketing activity to enhance reach, visibility, and impact. 

• Build and strengthen the UK PONI community both online and offline, fostering collaborations with PONI partners and other organisations and networks across the UK with an interest in nuclear issues. 

• Lead on the production and publication of UK PONI’s quarterly newsletter FUSION and the Nuclear Reactions series. 

• Plan, organise, and deliver UK PONI events, workshops, and conferences in the UK and abroad, providing full logistical and administrative support. 

• Prepare materials for meetings of the UK PONI Board of Advisors and support fundraising, business development, and ongoing liaison with funders. 

• Facilitate business planning and contribute to the development of annual work plans and strategic objectives. 

• Manage bids, grants, and financial reporting, including the creation and monitoring of budgets and submission of reports to funders. 

• Monitor project schedules, track team tasks, and collate programme-wide project management information to support effective delivery and coordination.

The purpose of the role is focused on generating and developing monthly management accounts information and providing insight and direction to the Director General and Leadership Team. Reporting directly to the Head of Finance and Organisation Development, you will play a key role across the business in improving data capture and managing reporting across the team.

Please note, for this role you can be based remotely. Additionally, the salary on show is the FTE.

As Lead, Management Accountant, you will:

- Prepare monthly management accounts, including comparatives to budgets, trends and forecasts

- Compile Balance sheet reconciliations

- Prepare quarterly Project Income and Expenditure reports for Project Managers

- Prepare interim/final financial Project reports for submission to Funders

- Prepare quarterly VAT returns

- Provide accurate and timely financial information to support the organisational financial strategy and decision-making process

The successful applicant will:

- Have demonstrable experience in finance within the charity sector, in a similar role

- Be Qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA or Part qualified on final stage

- Have a strong understanding of charity accounting principles, including SORP

- Have experience of managing financial ledgers, systems and processes

- Have strong IT skills, particularly in Excel, and the ability to manage large amounts of data

- Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

About the role

Job Purpose:

We are looking for an experienced Management Accountant to provide professional, accurate, and timely financial management and reporting for Repowering London. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will play a key role in supporting our sustainable growth by ensuring sound financial control, analysis and statutory compliance. Working closely with internal teams and external partners, you will enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of our Finance function, contributing to the organisation’s overall operational excellence.

The role will include providing technical and practical support for Repowering and the family of Community Benefit societies which we service and in the future the growth of additional members.

To succeed in this new role, you will need to be a proactive and detail-oriented finance professional with strong analytical skills, excellent stakeholder management, and a genuine commitment to Repowering London’s mission and values.

Key Responsibilities:

· Management & Statutory Reporting: Prepare monthly management accounts, reconcile balance sheet accounts, complete statutory returns (VAT, Companies House, FCA), and support annual audits.

· Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist with annual budgets, reforecasts, cashflow statements, and ad hoc financial projections.

· Business Partnering: Provide financial insights to the management team and project leads, supporting effective decision-making and project financial reporting.

· Supervision: Manage and support the Finance Officer, ensuring professional development and alignment of tasks with departmental goals.

· Systems & Processes: Maintain and improve finance systems and digital tools for accuracy, efficiency, and timely reporting.

· Finance Operations: Oversee sales and purchase ledgers, payroll,  and ad hoc financial reporting for senior leadership.

· Audit & Compliance: Prepare reconciliations for external audits and ensure compliance with HMRC, FCA, and other regulations.

· General Duties: Uphold organisational policies, confidentiality, equality, and sustainability commitments while representing the organisation professionally.

The preferred candidate will have the following abilities and aptitudes:

Essential:

• Qualified or part-qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
• A minimum of 5 years experience of management accounts preparation, including reconciliation and reporting.
• Experience of working with accounting software ( QuickBooks & Xero).
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical with a passion for accuracy and commitment to process.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities calmly and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Skilled in budget management and resource optimisation.

· Confident communicator, able to collaborate effectively across teams and with external partners.

· Advanced IT proficiency, including Excel and Commitment to teamwork, respect, and collaboration across all areas of the organisation

· Strong understanding of core business functions, including finance, HR, project management, and marketing
