• Manage the people and establishment budgets and plans, setting the annual process ensuring effective financial control through the monitoring and review of the monthly management accounts.

• Work in partnership with the Associate Director of People & Culture in delivering the strategic agenda, People & Culture Strategy.

• Proven experience working as a People lead that includes, strategic Business Partnering and organisational change and restructures 

• Demonstrable experience of managing complex employee relations issues including disciplinaries, grievances, appeals and performance management. This includes ETs and the interpretation of legislation for the purposes of internal policies and advice

We are looking for a passionate and empathetic individual who has the skills, knowledge and experience in coordinating casework and undertaking reporting of data to stakeholders. The IPO will undertake and be responsible for a range of administrative functions to advance and simply casework flow under the Sub-Regional Immigration Advice Service (SIAS) project. The IPO must have the ability to communicate effectively with referring agencies and stakeholders on a regular basis. The IPO will organise and present data to funders and others on behalf of NKLC. The IPO would have a good general understanding of Legal Aid casework, and the regulatory obligations set by the SRA and IAA.

The IPO will work closely with the Immigration Supervising Solicitor (ISS), Director and general admin team to progress and maintain the SIAS project. The IPO will manage referrals, liaise with the immigration team, and undertake a variety of administrative functions to maintain and resolve associated issues within the immigration department. Where appropriate, the IPO will arrange appointments, attend triage sessions off-site and liaise with referring agencies to ensure that caseworkers can advance casework as efficiently as possible.

You will be responsible for:
- Supporting the associate directors with ongoing and new research projects, including data analysis (qualitative and quantitative), preparing manuscripts for publication, and creating academic posters for research conferences
- Conducting or supporting research such as scoping reviews, rapid reviews, and qualitative or quantitative analysis, and summarizing information to inform research and policy work
- Developing summaries and impact reports from funded Marie Curie research and other research that supports Marie Curie's ongoing work
- Organizing events and conferences, including the annual Marie Curie Palliative Care Research conference, and planning new local conferences and workshops focusing on knowledge mobilization and quality improvement
- Providing general administrative support to the research team, including arranging meetings, taking minutes, and tracking actions

JOB PURPOSE

This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and organised operations professional to play a key role in strengthening the systems, processes and projects that will underpin our 10-year ambition. The Fundraising Operations Officer will help drive improvements in how the Fundraising team manages data, reporting and income tracking. The role supports the smooth running of Fundraising operations by improving and maintaining systems, processes and administrative functions, ensuring the global team runs smoothly and efficiently.

This is a newly established role that will offer hands-on experience in project coordination, risk escalation and CRM management, and will support you to develop technical and strategic skills in an international fundraising environment. Working closely with teams across Lumos, you’ll be part of an ambitious, values-led organisation where collaboration and continuous improvement are at the heart of what we do.

KEY OBJECTIVES

Operational Oversight

• Oversee day-to-day Fundraising operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, e.g. GDPR and IATI, across all relevant jurisdictions
• When needed, coordinate process improvement initiatives that support Fundraising delivery and create efficiencies, ensuring they work alongside those already used within Lumos
• Manage back-office functions for recruitment, inductions of new starters in the Fundraising team, and management of contractors and other suppliers as appropriate
• Provide operational support for events, including managing guest lists, monitoring expenditure, helping with venue logistics and on-the-day activities
• Help maintain and improve internal systems and team documentation (e.g., on SharePoint)
• Support the drafting of Fundraising policies, procedures and systems used by the organisation
• Maintain records of Gift Aid declarations and support the quarterly claims process

Salesforce Administration

• Act as our day-to-day administrator for our Salesforce database
• Manage the process of recording and reporting on information from Salesforce, maintaining accurate donor and income data, and ensuring up-to-date and consistent record keeping
• Take the lead on running selections and reports to support fundraising activity
• As needed, provide basic training and guidance about Salesforce for the team
• Work with the Finance team to reconcile donations recorded on Salesforce with their records

Information Management

• Support the Director of Fundraising with financial planning, forecasting, and scenario analysis to inform key strategic decisions.
• Deliver accurate and timely income and activity reporting to key stakeholders, including the Chief Executive, Trustees and the Fundraising Committee and to share with external agencies such as the Fundraising Regulator.
• Maintain the risk register, ensuring it reflects activity and can be used as a tool by the Director of Fundraising and Chief Executive

Fundraising Support

• Provide administrative and coordination support for fundraising campaigns, appeals and events
• Assist with donor stewardship, including thank-you letters and donor communications
• Respond to enquiries via the Fundraising inbox, social media or post
• Support scheduling and coordination of Fundraising meetings and cross-team projects
• Collaborate across the organisation to ensure fundraising needs are integrated and aligned

Debt Advisor

The Advice Services directorate at Toynbee Hall is central to our commitment to address and alleviate poverty in London and beyond. Specialising in debt, welfare benefits, legal support, and generalist advice, our directorate has proven instrumental in significantly enhancing the financial wellbeing of those we serve. Last year alone, our efforts helped individuals and families to be over £23 million better off, showcasing the direct impact of our work.

Scope of role

The Debt Advisor is responsible for providing comprehensive, video debt advice to prisoners across thirteen (13) HMPPS sites, tailored to their specific circumstances. This role involves conducting detailed interviews to understand clients’ financial problems, researching options, and helping clients make informed decisions. The advisor ensures income maximisation and provides ongoing casework support, acting on behalf of clients where necessary. Maintaining up-to-date case records and staying informed about relevant legislation, policies, and procedures are crucial aspects of the role. The Debt Advisor is also expected to complete continuous professional development and contribute to the team’s overall objectives by meeting targets, prioritising workloads, and demonstrating financial efficiency. The may also be required to attend meetings on-site at various prisons and host workshops for prisoners.

Key Responsibilities

Accurate, effective and individually tailored advice

• Interviewing those that access our service using sensitive listening and questioning skills to allow them to explain their problem(s) and empower them to set their own priorities.
• Researching and exploring options and implications so that those accessing our service can make informed decisions.
• Providing in-depth quality advice and on-gong casework, including acting for the client where necessary using appropriate communication skills and channels.

Detailed case records

• Maintaining detailed case records, ensuring that all work meets all auditing and quality standards and the requirements of the funder.
• Ensuring all case records and written up in a timely manner.

Up-to-date training

• Completing a minimum of 16 hours/ equivalent of technical debt advice DPD accredited training or qualifying activity.
• Maintaining an up-to-date record of all training sessions.

Teamwork

• Work to an agreed work-plan, meeting targets and milestones, whilst prioritising and managing your own workload.
• Be an active member of the team, identifying opportunities for your own development, and demonstrating financial efficiency and value for money throughout your work.
• Compliance with Toynbee Hall policies and procedures, including health and safety.

Other

• Travel to HMPPS sites as required
• Undertake additional tasks as delegated by DFA Management

Call for expression of interest 

Title: Senior Finance Consultant 

Location: Nampula, Mozambique 

Length of contract: 12 months, with a possible extension to 18 months 

About the role 

Sightsavers’ Mozambique country office (MCO) oversees the implementation of Sightsavers’ programmes in Mozambique that focus on eye health (cataracts and refractive error), Neglected Tropical Diseases (trachoma and onchocerciasis) and social inclusion (economic empowerment), with the finance function overseeing a vast portfolio of activities covering the various aspects of finance and administration. At this moment, the role of Finance & Support Services Manager (FSSM) is currently vacant in Mozambique at a time where the total programme portfolio is at a significant level. 

Given this vacancy at management level, combined with significant levels of programme funding planned in Mozambique for the foreseeable future, this is a great opportunity for the organisation to understand the current gaps and needs for the country office finance and support services (FSS) function going forward. 

As the Senior Finance Consultant, you will provide expert advice on the steps and resources required to transform the FSS function, within the next 12 to 18 months and lead on the implementation the agreed transformation roadmap. 

Further responsibilities include: 

Finance & Support Services transformation 

• Working with a steering group of global and regional senior finance and operations staff to define clear objectives for the transformation of the FSS function in Mozambique. 

• Review all relevant reports and documents and consult with key stakeholders to complete a situation analysis for the MCO FSS function (current strengths, weaknesses, gaps, requirements over the next 3 years, etc.). 

• Work with the MCO management team to develop a 12-month transformation roadmap for approval by the steering group. 

• Lead the implementation of the roadmap and be accountable for completion of agreed milestones. 

• Provide regular reports on progress with implementation of the roadmap to the steering group. 

Interim Finance & Support Services Manager (FSSM) for the country office 

The Senior Finance Consultant will act as an interim FSSM for the country office, and these duties involve: 

Financial Management 

• Ensure financial control and managing risk. 

• Ensure the conformity to the Sightsavers Global Financial Framework. 

• Ensure compliance to all applicable global and local regulations, as well as governance requirements. 

Administration and Support Services 

• Lead in facilitating the implementation of administrative organisational policies and procedures. 

• Manage logistics, supplies, and purchases as per Sightsavers’ procurement policy. 

• Ensure IT Equipment and connectivity for MCO runs in line with IT policies. 

• Support and line manage administrative staff. 

Project and Programme Management 

• Provide effective support to MCO programme teams 

• Support, administer and strengthen financial management, accountability, and capacities of partners. 

• Ensure proper financial monitoring of projects including audit of funds provided. 

• Oversee financial monitoring of partners at all levels. 

Human Resource Management 

• Support the OP&F Senior Human Resources Business Partner in implementing relevant HR policies and procedures at MCO level. 

• Manage and facilitate staff development plans for MCO. 

Skills and Experience 

As the ideal candidate you will hold a degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. You will also possess a professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, CFA), have extensive experience in financial and operational management, and have experience working for an INGO/NGO in a Finance role. 

Further requirements include: 

• Experience in a management/senior management role. 

• Proven experience in managing staff in a Finance environment. 

• Experience in financial, fund management and donor compliance aspects of programme implementation. 

• Demonstrated stakeholder and change management abilities. 

• Bilingual (lusophone/English).
