Role:Community and Events Fundraiser

Reporting to:Interim Director of Fundraising

Hours of work:37.5 hours per week

Contract:6-month fixed term contract (immediate start)

Salary:£28,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Location:Hybrid – mainly working from home, but with regular High Wycombe and London office visits

An entry-level role with Compton in community and events fundraising

An opportunity has arisen for a junior fundraiser to work alongside an experienced Compton Managing Consultant to provide support for third-party events, challenge events and other community-facing fundraising opportunities for a children’s charity.

This would be an ideal role for a candidate with some experience of the Sector who is keen to fast-track their fundraising career.

THE ROLE

The Community & Events Manager will be an integral part of the forward-thinking and ambitious fundraising team. We encourage candidates who are excited by helping to create innovative fundraising products and events and developing new fundraising strategies to apply.

The purpose of this role is to develop the Charity’s community and events fundraising programme, to implement the community and events fundraising strategy and meet financial targets. 

The successful candidate will be expected to work alongside one of our experienced Managing Consultants to:

·Manage and grow both community and events for the charity

·Prepare and distribute fundraising packs to third-party event organisers and support them in the planning and delivery of fundraising events

·Manage an annual programme of community fundraising products to drive community income, increase engagement and expand the Charity’s supporter base. 

·Help to maintain a stewardship programme for community supporters and event supporters.

·Work in close partnership with the Communications Team to promote fundraising events, create marketing materials and demonstrate impact.

·Ensure that effective administrative systems and procedures are maintained including accurate and up to date supporter records on charity database.

·Develop and maintain excellent internal relationships, such as with Fundraising colleagues, and the Communications team.

·Collaborate as part of the wider Fundraising team providing support and participating in other duties where required.

·Represent the Charity at community events and other events, book cheque presentations and arrange supporter meetings. 

Experience, knowledge, skills, and characteristics required and desired: 

Required:

·Ideally, some experience of community and events fundraising.

·Good organisational and time management skills to help develop and manage and support a variety of community fundraising events. 

·Experience of building relationships with supporters and/or customers

·Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

·Well-organised, and confident in planning and executing an activity plan.

·Demonstrably able to manage time and prioritise workload effectively. 

·The ability to work independently using own initiative, taking responsibility for own performance standards, and working requirements.

·Ideally, experience of using a fundraising database to manage supporter journeys and monitor income

·Be able to work well under pressure and have a solutions focused mindset - ready to react and be flexible in the face of unexpected events.
