Women’s Aid is the national charity working to end domestic abuse against women and children. We are a federation of over 170 organisations which provide just under 300 local lifesaving services to women and children across England. For almost 50 years we have campaigned on behalf of our members and survivors to shape policy and practice, and to raise awareness of domestic abuse.
Purpose of the Operations Manager role:
As Operations Manager, the successful candidate will play an integral role in the effective day to day management of key business support services including operations, IT data and premises. The role includes line manage responsibilities of the inhouse team as well as maintaining key relationships with outsourced companies to ensure objectives are met.
Key duties and responsibilities of the Operations Manager:
Operations:
- Manage the non-pay elements of the Operations Budget, including IT budget. (approximately £400K annually)
- Ensure that the technical, digital and office environment needs of all staff (across all sites and remote workers) are fit for purpose and adequately resourced
- Compliance with Health and Safety legislation
- Oversee the effective management of communal facilities, office resources and equipment.
- Responsible to complete, monitor and maintain the Operations Risk Management register.
Data Protection and Management:
- Provide subject matter expert advice on GDPR compliance and data protection.
- Responsible for co-ordinating the Data Champions Group to ensure that all Data Protection Polices are kept up to date.
- Responsible for all Subject Access and Right To Be Forgotten Requests
- Act as the ICO liaison.
- Responsible for setting GDPR training requirements
- Manage the Intranet and SharePoint sites
- Responsible for ensuring that the CRM operates in line with WA’s IT and GDPR Policies.
- Responsible for monitoring the ongoing archiving connection.
IT:
- Work with the external IT contractors to ensure effective delivery of the WA IT strategy.
- Ensure effective management and coordination of IT systems, equipment, office machinery, premises, and services.
- Plan, develop and implement strategies for IT
- Ensure organisation wide compliance with IT policies.
- Manage responsive IT support, maintain central records for externally provisioned services.
- Oversee the effective use of databases and file storage
What we are looking for in our Operations Manager:
- Experience and knowledge of a variety of software packages, particularly MS products
- Line Management experience
- Experience of hardware troubleshooting and support
- Solution driven and the ability to think creatively, working to tight deadlines
- Experience in health and safety
- Excellent IT skills and computer literacy
- Good knowledge of GDPR and confidentiality
- Good oral and written communication skills

The Role:
The successful Training lead will head our “Rise for Change” domestic abuse training programme and have the exciting opportunity to continue to grow the programme’s success to date. Rise for Change is a trauma informed domestic abuse training programme for non-specialist professionals. Uniquely created by our subject matter experts, our training directly addresses the need for intersectional and trauma informed domestic abuse training for professionals in all sectors. Our aim is to empower participants, no matter their professional role, to be able to respond safely and appropriately to domestic abuse both within the workplace and in the wider scope of their lives.
The role will be responsible for the delivery and upkeep of our current training packages, development of further training and the management of current/ new stakeholder relationships. This role will also serve as a subject matter expert on domestic abuse across our global digital programmes.

This is what the Training Lead will do at Hope After Harm:
- Work in line with our values.
- Deliver remote training to professionals, organisations and businesses (some flexibility may be required for limited ad-hoc in-person training).
- Upkeep current training packages and development key content as required.
- Complete needs analysis of the sector and ensure our packages remain in line with need and best practice.
- Maintain new and established relationships with key partners and stakeholders through regular meetings, problem-solving and support to ensure the longevity of relationships and continuous buy-in.
- Engaging with organisations and stakeholders to gain their custom, establish needs and tailor packages/delivery to suit their needs.
- Develop and co-ordinate communications through various channels such as social media, Linked-in and event sites to gain custom.
- Maintain accurate recording and reporting of training/project delivery, including a training delivery calendar, CRM and all administrative processes and wrap around support.
- Providing ongoing advice and support to organisations in receipt of training and obtaining/responding to feedback.

This is what you will bring as the Training Lead at Hope After Harm:
- A thorough understanding of domestic abuse and gender-based violence through a trauma informed and intersectional lens, including the impact and mitigation of vicarious trauma.
- An experienced, highly skilled trainer with the ability to engage people through remote and in-person delivery.
- Hold a “Train the Trainer” qualification or be willing to obtain one during onboarding.
- Have a good understanding of the nuances of culture, race, sexual orientation and gender identity within domestic abuse and sexual violence, and be committed to intersectional ways of working.
- Knowledge of adult learning techniques.
- Have excellent communication, negotiation and advisory skills, both written and verbal when interacting with a range of agencies and individuals.
- Plans and prioritises work effectively, with the ability to manage projects and multiple deadlines
- Motivate individuals and agencies to move through courses of action and decision-making processes.
- Independent worker who takes responsibility for own workload and takes initiative to gain additional opportunities for the programme.

Domestic Abuse Support Worker

Who are they?
Our client provides refuge and community based (outreach) support to adults and children who are experiencing domestic abuse. They offer their services to both women and men (dispersed only) with or without children who are fleeing domestic abuse and need a safe place to stay, and to those out in the community who are living with the impact of domestic abuse.
The Roles
They have multiple roles, each varying in responsibility. Please read through the descriptions and when asked on the application page specify which role you are interested in.
Support Worker’s
As a Support Worker, you’ll play a pivotal role in providing practical and emotional support to women and men who are experiencing or have experienced domestic abuse (both in the refuge and throughout the local community). You’ll work with clients to assess needs and risks and plan a package of support and risk management individual to them.
Some of the other duties involve:

Assessing referrals for both community and refuge based services

Supporting the delivery of group work both in refuge and local community

Travelling throughout service delivery area to deliver support and attendance at multi-agency meetings and work in partnership with other agencies where required to advocate for their clients and ensure risk is managed and support needs are met (e.g.: social care; police; CAB; housing departments; Job Centre and Benefits agencies)

Working with colleagues to provide a clean and welcoming environment for all accessing our services

Ensuring records (computer based case management system) are kept up to date and accurate – basic IT skills and knowledge of IT systems are advantageous!
Move On Support Worker’s
As a domestic abuse move on worker you’ll support individuals and families within our safe accommodation to transition into settled accommodation. You’ll provide a tailored, person-centred support package to help customers achieve their goals and live a life free from abuse.
Some other duties include:

Prepare customers to move on from safe accommodation services and deliver support, both in groups and one-to-one, to enable them to manage their own tenancy.

Support customers to set up their own home, assisting them to set up utility accounts and other household obligations.

Provide emotional support and reassurance to survivors and their families around their move from safe refuge.

Working with survivors on the transition from refuge to their own property safely, engaging in robust safety planning and risk assessing and identification.

Provide housing management and welfare benefit support and guidance, as well as signposting and making referrals to appropriate agencies.

Identifying and keeping an up-to-date register of local and national grants available to survivors in furnishing/ moving to their new home Establish and maintain quality working relationships to enable multi-agency support.

Engage actively with safeguarding initiatives and Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) frameworks, referring clients, attending meetings, and following up on agreed actions.

Foster positive partnerships within the multi-agency arena, working collaboratively across operational areas and the local community to raise awareness of domestic abuse issues and available support options.

Working in a client-centred way to identify appropriate local and community groups that can support/ assist the survivor to integrate into their new community safely.

Liaise with, signpost or refer to relevant statutory and voluntary agencies, advocating for the best possible support for each survivor.

Peripatetic Support Worker

The role of Peripatetic Support Worker is to provide comprehensive cover for accommodation and community-based services, offering practical and emotional support to survivors of domestic abuse and various forms of violence and abuse. Some other duties include:

About You
They’re looking for someone who has the values, knowledge and skills of working within a support role supporting clients who have experienced domestic abuse and can demonstrate how they use their skills and common sense to support vulnerable individuals and families. They’ll have a commitment to maintaining the dignity and rights of the individuals and families they work with, with top notch communication skills. It is desirable if you have had experience of working within a Domestic Abuse Service.
Previous experience in a similar role is desirable, but they welcome candidates with relevant experience from other sectors or transferrable skills.
You will work 37 hours a week, Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm. There may be expectation to work some evenings up to 8pm and occasional weekends and bank holidays.
You will be required to have flexibility to travel across Derbyshire therefore driving licence and access to a car (with business insurance) is essential
All successful candidates will be required to take a basic numeracy and literacy exercise prior to the interview.
