We are looking for a qualified/unqualified IDVA (training may be provided for the right candidate) to join our dynamic team.

We are looking for someone with experience of supporting victims/survivors of domestic abuse, managing a caseload and understanding the principles of safeguarding children and adults. The post holder will have a good understanding of the dynamics of domestic abuse and how this can affect victims.

This is a challenging role that requires empathy, compassion, excellent interpersonal and caseload management skills, a client-centred approach and proactive crisis intervention.

The Role:

Our Independent Domestic Violence Advisors (IDVA) provide a high-quality frontline domestic abuse support service to those at high risk of harm. IDVAs support victims of domestic abuse to assess level of risk, inform victims of their options and develop tailored safety plans to protect the victim and their children. They work within a multi-agency framework to advocate for the victim, including responding to and reporting to Multi-agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARAC) on behalf of the victim.

The role supports the empowerment of victims/survivors, assisting them to recognise the dynamics of domestic abuse present in their own situation through one-to-one support and group work, to help them regain control of their lives.

This is a challenging role that requires empathy, compassion, excellent interpersonal and caseload management skills, and confidence working with partner agencies and advocating for clients.

The Role:

Pathfinder IDVAs will be the main point of contact and support for victim/survivors and their children in the Family Court process, ensuring that they are well-informed and prepared for proceedings, and that they are well-supported throughout. Pathfinder IDVAs will provide detailed reports for the court to ensure that the impact of domestic abuse on the family as a whole and on the children in particular is fully appreciated and understood. Pathfinder IDVAs will be the ‘subject matter experts’ for the Court in relation to domestic abuse, and will offer advice and training to court officers and staff to promote the better understanding of the dynamics of domestic abuse within the Court setting.

The Pathfinder IDVAs will work with people from Sandwell, Walsall and Dudley areas whose cases are being heard in Wolverhampton or Telford Family Court.

Job Title: IRIS Advocate Educator

Position available: 1 full-time position (37.5 hours)

Location: Role will involve working in Sandwell, Walsall, Dudley and Wolverhampton communities; when not working in the community, the role holder will be expected to work from the Head Office in Sandwell.

Salary: £25,590.00 - £27,873.84

The post holder will deliver domestic abuse training, work in partnership with health and other agency professionals and provide emotional and practical support, risk assessment and safety planning to standard and medium risk clients.

The Role:

IRIS is a specialist domestic violence and abuse (DVA) training, support and referral programme for general practices. The IRIS Advocate Educator provides in-house domestic abuse training and ongoing consultancy for general practice teams and is an advocate to whom patients can be referred for support. As an Advocate Educator, you will provide tailored practical and emotional support to clients referred by trained GP practices.

You will be part of a national network of IRIS Advocate Educators who deliver training to local GP practices to raise awareness of domestic abuse and improve early identification.

Position: Children’s Development Worker

Location: West Midlands (Birmingham/Walsall)

The Role

Working as part of a team, the job may involve working weekends, unsociable hours, and bank holidays and you will be required to work flexible hours to meet the needs of children and young people. 

Duties include:

• Design and deliver an age-appropriate programme of structured and free play activities to support children’s wellbeing and development.
• Identify individual support needs and coordinate with colleagues and partner agencies (e.g., schools, health and social care) to ensure needs are met.
• Build positive relationships with children and young people, ensuring sessions are inclusive, engaging and safe.
• Promote safeguarding and follow child protection procedures, including advocacy and attendance at relevant multi-agency meetings when required.
• Maintain accurate records and monitoring systems, producing monthly/quarterly reports against agreed outcomes.
• Create opportunities for children, young people and parents/carers to participate, provide feedback and shape service delivery.
• Plan and organise resources and activities (including offsite and holiday provision), evaluating sessions to drive continuous improvement.

About You

You will have experience of working with children and young people aged 0 – 18 years old and be able to speak at least one South Asian language.

You will also have:

• A good standard of education, including a minimum of level 4 or equivalent in Maths and English.
• NNEB Diploma/BTEC in Nursery nursing / NVQ3/CQS in childcare or equivalent
• Experience of devising and delivering creative play activities for children that assist in their holistic needs.
• Experience of working as part of a team and able to demonstrate your positive influence on team dynamics
• Able to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing
• Able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Able to listen actively and adapt your communication style to meet the needs of the recipient.
• Able to be calm and resilient whilst under pressure and to remain optimistic and persistent.
• Be IT literate and familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
