We are seeking a Risk and Internal Audit Manager to lead our risk management and internal audit initiatives. This critical role involves developing a robust risk management framework, conducting thorough internal audits, and ensuring compliance with donor requirements. The successful candidate will demonstrate an understanding of humanitarian issues and standards, including codes of conduct and accountability principles, and possess a working knowledge of French or Spanish. About you

You are a highly skilled professional with a Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors (CIA) certification or a full CCAB qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA). Your extensive experience in risk management and internal audit, particularly within an international NGO or a similar environment, equips you with the necessary expertise to excel in this role. About the role

As the Risk and Internal Audit Manager, you will play a pivotal role in fortifying our organisation by overseeing both risk management and internal audit operations. You will develop and manage CARE International UK’s risk management framework, maintain and update the organisation’s risk register, and provide regular risk management reports. You will also develop and execute an annual internal audit plan, ensuring compliance with recognised auditing standards. Your role involves coordinating with various CARE entities and overseeing specialist audits in areas like cybersecurity and GDPR. International travel will be required to support CARE International UK funded programmes.

Founded in 2007, KHULA Education is an award-winning South African NGO working in partnership with rural schools and underserved communities in deep rural South Africa to ensure children and youth can access a quality education and economic opportunity.

Over the past 17 years, KHULA has transformed schools that were previously failing into schools that compete at the national level; supported hundreds of young people to access tertiary education opportunities; and helped hundreds more on the path to employment. Each year, we support over 6,500 children, youth and more than 300 teachers. 

About the Role

We are seeking to recruit a creative and ambitious Fundraising and Communications Officer.

As our reach and impact has increased significantly in recent years, so has our income, and this new role has been created in response to that demand.  This is an exciting opportunity for a fundraiser who wants to widen, or consolidate, their knowledge and experience of fundraising, in an international context, as well as gain communications experience.

We are a very small team so the role will cover a breadth of funding streams, with a particular focus on Trusts and Foundations, High Value Donors, and Events, both special and community.  It is therefore important that you have excellent writing and interpersonal skills, and solid experience of crafting successful funding applications.  You will also need excellent planning and organisational skills.

The role can, to some extent, be shaped by the skills and experience of the successful candidate, but it is likely to include the following responsibilities.

 Key Responsibilities

• Steward, retain and grow the support of our existing donor portfolio: KHULA has an existing portfolio of donors including trusts, foundations, corporates, major donors, individual and regular givers, the majority of whom are based in the UK or South Africa. Alongside the Director of Fundraising and Communications, the post holder will be responsible for managing these relationships, including bespoke reporting for trusts and major donors and taking responsibility for their own portfolio of donors.
• Donor prospecting and new business: researching and generating new donor leads as well as acting on opportunities provided by our Board and others, converting prospects into supporters of our programmes.
• ​​External communications: working alongside the Director of Fundraising and Communications, assisting in the creation of our quarterly e-newsletter and the Annual Report, managing our social media channels, in addition to other ad hoc external communications.
• Events: supporting our community and events fundraisers and assisting with the organisation of occasional special events, alongside Board members.
• Fundraising innovation: assisting in the development of creative campaigns to increase donations/recruit lapsed donors, developing products and offerings.
• Financial management and admin: maintaining our donor database and contributing to fundraising budgets and forecasts. 

Person Specification

Experience of working in a smaller charity and team is beneficial as this is a very hands-on role, covering a wide range of responsibilities.

We are particularly interested to hear from candidates who demonstrate most/all of the following attributes:

• A proven, demonstrable track record of submitting successful funding applications.
• Experience in successfully fundraising from one or more of trusts, foundations, high value donors and corporates.
• Experience of community and events fundraising, including promoting events and supporting participants.
• Excellent communication writing skills.
• Personal or professional experience of a range of social media channels.
• Good IT Skills (Microsoft Office, Mailchimp, CRM systems (we use Donorfy))
• Self-motivated and able to work autonomously with a largely virtual team

Who are Women’s Aid?

Women’s Aid is the national charity working to end domestic abuse against women and children. We are a federation of over 170 organisations which provide just under 300 local lifesaving services to women and children across England. For almost 50 years we have campaigned on behalf of our members and survivors to shape policy and practice, and to raise awareness of domestic abuse.

 

Purpose of the Community Fundraising Officer role: 

As Community Fundraising Officer, the successful candidate will play an integral role in nurturing relationships with existing and prospective supporters, as well as overseeing a portfolio of community fundraising events and activities  in order to increase donations. Attending fundraising events and networking will be a key part of the role, paired with a thorough understanding of Women’s Aid work, business plans and strategic priorities.

 Key duties and responsibilities of the Community Fundraising Officer:

• To be responsible for a rolling calendar of events and activities. Providing fundraisers with tailored stewardship, resources, ideas and recognition for their event to maximise income and cultivate them to become a long-term supporter of Women’s Aid.
• To assist with the development and production of a range of fundraising stewardship materials including posters, our fundraising newsletter and annual thank you to donors.
• To work closely with key internal stakeholders both to understand and be able to package up their work into clear compelling asks for all stewardship documents.
• To ensure appropriate means of monitoring and evaluation of fundraising events and activities are established to feed into the fundraising team’s KPIs.
• To use the fundraising database to produce reports and analyse success rates, to feed into the fundraising strategy.
• To take responsibility for purchasing places for events through raising Purchase Orders and invoices where appropriate.
• To develop and manage relationships with fundraisers, encouraging the to become long term supporters of Women’s Aid.

What we are looking for in our Community Fundraising Officer:

• Knowledge of feminism, domestic abuse and the role of Women’s Aid
• Understanding of social media channels and their audiences

Your role

We are seeking a Senior Fundraising Leader to secure funding from diverse sources to support our program and initiatives. The ideal candidate has senior-level fundraising experience at an NGO, organisation, or charity, a strong and established network of executive relationships in major foundations, and a proven track record of identifying and closing deals in the range of 1-5 million USD. The fundraising leader will develop relationships with potential donors, identify fundraising opportunities, and manage the grant application process.

We seek someone who aligns with the DfG mission, has a passion for fundraising and can strategise and deliver new initiatives. Key Responsibilities

· Relationship Management: Build and nurture relationships with current and prospective donors, program officers, and key stakeholders, serving as the main point of contact for grant inquiries, reporting, and communications.

Scope of the Job

The Finance Officer at Alfanar will play a crucial role in delivering an effective and efficient finance function across the organization's group structure. Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Finance Officer will be supporting various financial tasks, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, cash and reserves management, accounting processes, and financial risk mitigation. The role requires a focus on continuous improvement, problem-solving, and development to ensure high-performance standards and exceptional finance services for Alfanar's teams.

Reports to: Head of Finance

Main Responsibilities

· Manage all receivables and payables following agreed processes and ensure timely payment.

· Prepare monthly payroll and set up salary payments

· Reconcile bank accounts on a monthly basis

· Producing Monthly Management Accounts with the help of the finance system and Excel templates.

· Review donor reports prepared by the country office for accuracy and cost allocation

· Claim gift aid on a regular basis

· Support organisation budget and proposal budget process.

· Support organisational audit process.

· Any other duties as agreed by the Head of Finance.

Financial accounting

· Be an integral part of ensuring effective and efficient financial control environment across Alfanar’s group structure

· Operate key financial controls including balance sheet schedules, intercompany and income reconciliations

· Support the continuing develop of effective financial management procedures, increasing automation and efficiency

· Ensure accurate and complete records for restricted funds

· Active involvement in payroll to ensure an accurate and up to date payroll

· Manage the payments process using Xero financial software ,review and set up payments at the bank

· Support Head of Finance in developing and implementing  Finance processes across the Alfanar group.

· Ensure Alfanar is up to date and compliant with its statutory duties relating to Payroll, Pensions, VAT , Corporation Tax and  other statutory submissions.

Reporting

● Support Head of Finance with the preparation of  annual accounts in line with financial reporting standards, including consolidation of future group entities, ready for Audit.

● Support Head of Finance during organisation’s external audit

● Liaise with external accountants, including on all filing requirements

● Prepare financial information for the trustees annual report and liaise with the communications function on presentation

Financial management reporting and finance business partnering

● Support budgeting and reforecasting process led by Head of Finance. Ensure relevant team members receive guidance notes and documentation in relation to the budget and forecast processes and templates

● Manage the month end close procedure, including preparing journals to record the required accruals and fund transfers

● Prepare, review and analyse management accounts, seek variance explanations, prepare commentary and summaries based on budget holder responses, and ensure management understand any required actions.

● Continue to develop monthly management reports and budget Vs actual reports for budget holders.

● Work with the fundraising team to ensure that income data flows are documented, and finance and fundraising metrics are clearly defined and accurately calculated and reported

Tax, cash, risk and reserves management and group operations

● Working with the Head of Finance, manage, review and improve Alfanar’s (online) banking arrangements and relationships, across the group structure

● Prepare monthly cash flow forecasts and requirements and ensure appropriate cash management and transfers across the group structure.

● Should it be required, support with Alfanar’s registration for VAT, set up and operate the required changes to the accounting systems, and prepare and file VAT returns, including other entities within the VAT group

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

● Experience of supporting in accounting, payments, transaction processing, financial reporting, tax, and cash management with international operations ideally in a growing group.

● Experience of automating financial processes and developing  reporting functionality from accounting systems

● Knowledge and experience of using Xero or other cloud-based accounting software.

● Experience of providing financial management support/business partnering to managers/budget holders, who may not have a financial background.

● Qualified affiliate accountant or working towards a qualification (UK ACA, CIMA, ACCA ,AAT or equivalent)

● Knowledge of data protection legislation, risk management and other governance regulations including confidentiality.

Desired

● Bachelor or Master's degree in accounting or finance.

● Experience in Finance Function in a not-for-profit setting, whether gained in a paid or voluntary capacity

Experience of working with high volume payment processing supplier systems and integrating the associated data flows into internal databases

The Foundation is recruiting a dynamic Legal Officer or Senior Legal Officer to expand the TrustLaw service in Central and Eastern Europe and support its flagship media freedom project focused on supporting journalists in exile. You will report to the Senior Legal Programme Manager, EMENA and work closely with the TrustLaw, Programmes and Media Freedoms teams. The position will be based in London.

About the Role

As a Legal Officer, you will: 

• Support the development of legal content for trainings and workshops that address the critical legal needs facing media outlets and journalists in exile. These are likely to include registration, employment, broadcasting and intellectual property law issues in new jurisdictions, to which they have relocated.

• Design, scope and oversee the development of tools, resources, and other content on key legal issues of relevance to journalists and independent media outlets in exile, such as setting up in new jurisdictions.

• Support the implementation of strategies to recruit, engage, partner and manage relationships with media outlets/NGOs and legal teams, in Central and Eastern Europe.

• Scope legal requests from media organisations and journalists, so that the requests clearly explain the legal needs for lawyers to advise on.

• Manage legal requests from media freedom organisations, journalists or outlets from inception to completion, including connecting our clients with lawyers in the TrustLaw network or other legal service providers, as appropriate, and follow up with the parties involved.

• Oversee, review and support the work of consultants and legal experts working on legal research, beneficiary needs assessments, issue mapping and content development.

• Support the development and implementation of a communications, engagement and outreach plan to media freedom and legal partners in the region, as needed, in collaboration with the Foundation’s Communications, Social and Media Freedom teams.

• Assist and support the project manager and TrustLaw team on the administrative, reporting, planning, monitoring, and logistical responsibilities linked to the role in a timely manner.

• Support the TrustLaw team on media freedom thought leadership projects and, as appropriate, represent TrustLaw by speaking publicly on our work at panels, conferences, or other speaking engagements.

• Travel, when safe to do so.

About You

To be our Legal Officer, you will likely have:

• Legal experience to degree level or equivalent, preferably in human rights and/or media law, with experience working either in a law firm, media house, or non-profit organisation

• Understanding of international standards on press freedom and/or the media law/policy landscape in Europe, specifically Central and Eastern Europe 

• Experience of project management or coordination, especially on donor-funded projects is highly desirable

• Excellent time management and organisational skills including the ability to effectively and independently manage multiple matters and projects in a fast-paced environment

• Excellent research, drafting and analytical skills, with experience in training strongly preferred

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills –able to establish and maintain positive working relationships both internally and externally, with people from a wide variety of cultures and backgrounds

• Experience in Salesforce would be favourable. Experience working with databases essential

• Fluency in English; working knowledge of Russian would be an advantage

• Proven ability to work in a large team with varied stakeholders

• Integrity, professional discretion and ability to handle confidential matters

• Willingness to travel internationally

As Global Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Officer, you will support PEAS country level MEL teams in fulfilling their learning objectives in relation to delivering our school improvement technical assistance programme to non-PEAS partner schools. The MEL Officer will be part of the Global Technical Team, and will contribute to the team’s primary objectives to boost the efficacy and impact of the organisation's initiatives across Uganda, Zambia, and Ghana.

We are looking for an individual with significant MEL experience, ideally in relation to education programmes in low resource settings of Uganda, Zambia, and/or Ghana. Experience in fulfilling institutional donor requirements is desirable, ideally to include USAID and/or FCDO.
