They do this by working with hundreds of volunteers across the UK to organise maths competitions promoting problem solving and teamwork and other mathematical enrichment activities. The Role
This is a hugely exciting and unique opportunity to undertake a range of administrative tasks and projects in support of the executive team. Duties will include:
- Assisting the executive team with general diary management; meeting planning; minute taking; monitoring incoming emails; document drafting and review (including reports and contracts); general administrative support and secretarial duties
- Providing administrative and governance support to the Chair of Trustees, including assisting with the recruitment and induction process for new trustees when required, maintaining relevant trustee records, and ensuring statutory paperwork for trustees remains up to date
- Co-ordinating and overseeing that policies and systems are in place to enable effective access to information and timely review and drafting of documents by Policyholders/Authors
- Ensuring correspondence and other documents / data are retained in appropriate format and in compliance with UKMT’s GDPR policy
- Providing timely and accurate administration of monthly payroll and employee benefits, including liaising with the payroll and employee benefits companies to ensure they run smoothly
- Managing the onboarding process for new starters and administering the absence and holiday system accordingly
The Person
To be considered for this role you should be a highly organised and motivated individual passionate about providing high quality administrative support. You should have experience of working in a similar role, and be comfortable preparing reports and papers, producing meeting minutes and analysing company documents. Ideally you will have experience working in, or with, the Third Sector, or if not, then a keen interest and knowledge of the charity and not-for-profit world.

The purpose of your role
We are seeking a talented Head of People; an experienced, qualified HR professional with core HR and operational capabilities to lead our People function. This role will operate as part of our Senior Leadership Team and will bring a workforce-focused and commercial mindset to support organisational, strategic and local decision making.
The role oversees Police Now’s People Strategy, covering HR activity, strategic workforce planning, recruitment, resourcing and absence management, reward and recognition, performance, and staff learning and development. The Head of People also oversees legal reviews and guidance (with support from our external legal partner) and office management. We require someone with strong leadership, management and communication skills to continue delivering a professional and high quality People function. The role will be supported by an HR Assistant Manager, HR Officer and a Recruitment Officer. The right candidate will bring experience as a Senior HR/People Leader, who can share their knowledge, experience and expertise with staff at all levels to support informed and smart decision making, and ultimately drive a high performing, inclusive and development focused culture.
What you’ll do
- Strategic HR: Maintain our high-performing People function, producing tailored data-driven insights into Police Now’s workforce and operational needs to meet Board and Senior Leadership Team requirements and help to drive strategic decision-making and risk management. Provide strategic advice and contribute to the development of Police Now’s strategy.
- People strategy: Lead the delivery, measurement and development of the Police Now People Strategy, a key strategic document and implementation plan, working closely with the COO to ensure this supports our overall strategy and delivery of key performance indicators on a regular basis.
- Workforce planning: Develop an iterative workforce plan for Police Now, which anticipates our future resourcing needs and supports the Senior Leadership Team in deploying staff as effectively as possible. This includes identifying future talent needs, forecasting and mitigating challenges of knowledge loss as staff leave.
- HR advisory: Provide leadership, advice and where appropriate robust challenge on people matters including performance, absence, employee relations and staff engagement.
- Learning and development: Deliver, measure and develop a fit for purpose L&D plan, seeking opportunities to truly drive a high performance and development focused culture. This includes identifying regular and one-off opportunities for external and internal training that represent value for money.
- End-to-end recruitment lifecycle: Oversee the attraction, onboarding and retention of staff, guiding the
HR team to recruit mission aligned people and develop excellent talent in pursuit of our mission. - Benefits, remuneration and wellbeing: Work closely with the Executive Team to determine appropriate pay, benefits and wellbeing support for staff, reviewing this in line with trends.
- Equality, Diversity and Inclusion: Play a lead role in inclusion and diversity, supporting the Senior Leadership Team to consider EDI in decision making, and ensure that staff feel valued, respected and able to contribute their best. Practically this includes completing gender and ethnicity pay gap reporting, applying positive action, and sourcing training.
- Driving high performance: Working collaboratively with SLT and Managers to effectively manage staff performance covering formal performance/appraisal processes and identifying and addressing both exceptional and concerning performance. Providing support, guidance and training where required to aid people managers in driving high performance in their teams.
- Disciplinaries and termination: Support managers where required to implement and manage disciplinary action, including warnings, mediations, decision panels, and terminations, whilst maintaining appropriate records for audit trails.
- Budget management: Approve and effectively utilise spending across the HR, Legal and Office management budget lines to ensure value for money in our spending.
- Leadership and management: Lead, motivate and continue to develop the high-performing People team, including oversight of day-to-day activities, direct line management, providing robust feedback, coaching and development opportunities.
- HR data and policies: To ensure staff data is updated and accurate, so it can be used to share insights into organisational performance to aid decision-making. Lead the development of HR policies and procedures, ensuring they
are implemented consistently and kept up to date with relevant employment law changes. - Office Management: Oversee the management of the office, including supporting the organisation in
effectively operating in a hybrid world, working closely with IT and Finance.
What you’ll need
- 2+ years operating in a senior HR/People position, either as a Head of HR or Senior HR Manager in a larger organisation; experience managing teams of 2 or more within an HR setting is essential.
- Demonstrable leadership experience working with senior stakeholders including Boards, influencing senior management, and building strong relationships internally and externally at a senior level.
- In-depth knowledge of all core HR processes and up to date knowledge of HR best practice, employment law / HR legislation. Experience working with external legal teams a plus.
- Experience of developing and implementing a wide range of projects and activities in all areas of HR including, including: organisational culture and design, recruitment and talent planning, learning and development, performance management, compensation and reward, employee engagement, and employee relations.
- Proven track record of delivering against operational and strategic HR requirements in support of organisational strategy, and the ability to react responsively to a wide breadth of issues and opportunities.
- Demonstrated ability to operate at the highest levels of confidentiality regarding sensitive staff and organisational information, and to act with integrity and professionalism. Please note, basic vetting may be required due to the nature of our work.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and strong emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills.
- Strong proficiency in using Microsoft Office, and the ability to analyse and present data effectively.
- CIPD qualification (level 5 or above is advantageous but not essential)

We’re looking for a Recruitment Officer to join our award-winning Selection team to deliver our selection process to enable us to achieve our ambitious mission.
You will be focusing on ensuring all candidates are assessed consistently and fairly throughout each stage of the selection process (application form, online assessment and assessment centre) so that we can ensure we recruit talented and diverse individuals committed to our mission of community transformation. Your responsibilities will vary from delivering selection activity, planning assessment centres, delivering training and ongoing support to our large team of external assessors and quality assuring our selection outcomes. You will also be dedicated to delivering an excellent candidate experience throughout the selection journey to ensure all candidates have a positive experience with Police Now regardless of outcome.
Alongside operational delivery, you will work closely with the Recruitment Manager and Head of
Recruitment on future evolutions to the selection process to ensure we remain market-leading in our approach. This includes designing content, piloting new approaches and using data and evaluation to inform future developments and improvements.
Key responsibilities
- Take a hands-on role in screening and assessing applicants against the necessary skills and attributes required to be a Police Now participant. This would be required throughout all stages of the recruitment process - application form, online assessment and assessment centre (digital and in-person)
- Oversee the running of assessment centres in the role of the assessment centre manager (ACM) to ensure all candidates receive a positive candidate experience and working with assessors to ensure consistent and fair assessment assessed across all exercises. In addition, when required, you will act as the facilitator for assessment centres being the main point of contact for candidates on the day.
- Act as a main point of contact for assessors and actors, dealing with queries and overseeing scheduling and invoicing. Supporting with the onboarding and training of new assessors
- Create and deliver regular assessor training and quality assurance checks to ensure our large group of assessors are following best practice guidelines so that candidates are assessed rigorously and consistently
- Oversee the planning and scheduling of Police Now assessment centres ensuring timetables are created through our digital assessment centre platform so all participants and assessors have the information required for their involvement in the assessment centres.
- Support and lead on projects related to process improvement, content design and assessment evolution. This will involve working on developments to our assessment activities and materials when required, gaining stakeholder input into selection criteria and testing new methodology to ensure rigour
- Conduct ongoing analysis of parts of the selection process and communicate outputs to relevant stakeholders
- Maintain oversight of our digital assessment centre platform, including testing, setup and managing feedback to our provider. Support with maintaining our applicant tracking system from a selection perspective
- Act as a contact point for candidate queries to support them through their application journey and as required, probe them for further information required related to their eligibility for participation on the programme
- Develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders that support the recruitment process
- Ad hoc duties to support our busy team, including, attending events and supporting with onboarding processes
What you'll need
- Proven assessment and selection experience, preferably in the graduate recruitment sector or a similar high-volume recruitment environment

In person, face to face introductions with the school take place prior to the break and on completion of the break, follow up visits are required with the school (travel allowance paid).
Overnight additional payments to basic salary, £55 per overnight residential stays.

As the SEAL Leader you be an integral part of our exceptional team with the responsibility of contacting schools / referring agents in the locality (within 150 miles) to promote our SEAL services, build a programme with the school / referring agent to support the identified children prior to the residential break and for 4-6 weeks after the residential. You will identify, plan and deliver our services to a wide range of schools and communities to ensure identified children can access the unique services provided by Honeypot and are signposted to other skilled partners, as required.
