What you'll do:
* Building supportive, trusting relationships with customers and creating a positive atmosphere
* Carrying out holistic assessments of new customers which incorporate relevant statutory referral information
* Conducting regular key work sessions that are innovative and engaging in order to achieve Support Plan goals
* Create support plans for providing appropriate services based on on-going assessment and reflecting the services and resources available to enable customer to progress in their recovery
* Ensuring ongoing assessment and management of risks associated with customers within an attitude of 'positive risk taking
* Provide support and access to relevant services to enable customers to continue their recovery and empower customers to self-manage their medication regimes through individual re-enablement programmes and informed decision making
* Undertake support work in partnership with external stakeholders to compliment their interventions
* Developing productive relationships with partner organisations to improve service outcomes

Job Title: Recovery Worker

Location: Based within Croydon. Please be kindly aware there is no step-free access at this location or at some of our other sites. The building is approximately a 10 minute walk from East Croydon Station.

Salary: £27,000

Shift Pattern: 12 month fixed term contract, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:00. You may be required to work bank holidays and outside these hours in line with the needs of the service and residents.

About the Role

We’re hiring a Recovery Worker to join our Croydon team, a 24/7, 27 bed residential service providing support to people with forensic mental health needs, complex needs, and dual diagnosis. You’ll provide person centred support to help residents overcome challenges and achieve their goals through tailored support plans, activities and partnership working. The service offers psychologically informed housing and resettlement support as part of our wider forensic mental health step down services.

As a Recovery Worker, you will contribute to successfully rehabilitating and reintegrating our residents and participants back into the community. Providing pathways, support and appropriate interventions that will enable successful resettlements and work with internal and external partners and agencies to achieve desired outcomes. You’ll play a vital role in residents’ rehabilitation and reintegration, ensuring the service runs smoothly through welfare checks, resident support, administrative tasks, and clear handovers with day staff and managers.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Support residents who may be facing challenges with forensic mental health with additional needs
• Create tailored support plans through one to one sessions, group sessions, and multi agency meetings
• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents at all times
• Focusing on empowering our residents to take control over their lives and meet their personal goals
• Planning activities to engage residents with other people, communities, and opportunities
• Be a valued and reliable member of the team, completing handovers for night colleagues for a seamless service
• Support residents with taking their correct medication as required
• Keeping support plans up to date using our online portal
• Maintain accurate and up to date risk assessments for each resident, ensuring risks are reviewed regularly and adjustments are made promptly as their needs change
• Deliver weekly keywork sessions with allocated residents, directly supporting their recovery by setting SMART goals and monitoring progress to help them move forward confidently and safely

About You

We're looking for someone who has a genuine passion for supporting people who may have complex needs which includes forensic mental health. You will be able to build professional and trusting rapport with others, and work towards achieving positive outcomes, using a flexible and adaptable approach that recognises each individual’s unique and varied support needs. You will be motivated to help people overcome personal barriers and make a real difference to their lives, finding fulfilment in a role driven by a genuine commitment to supporting others. You will be able to remain calm, flexible, and positive when responding to challenging situations, and be motivated to support people to build resilience and independence. Experience in mental health or support work is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.

• Experience working with people with forensic mental health and complex needs, ideally in mental health and residential setting
• Experience working with people with complex backgrounds, including ex-offenders, mental health, substance misuse, or challenging behaviour and an understanding of housing and social needs
• Ability to engage with people from different backgrounds, build rapport, and empower them to achieve their personal goals
• Ability to show empathy and compassion to our residents, and different challenges they face
• IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, basic Microsoft experience
• Ability and willingness to show flexibility of working patterns, responding to the needs of the service and residents

Single Homeless Project (SHP) and Islington Council are proud to introduce St. John’s Mansions - a brand-new, purpose-built accommodation service that will provide safe, high-quality housing for individuals experiencing homelessness and facing multiple exclusion. This innovative project is backed by the GLA’s Single Homelessness Accommodation Programme (SHAP), and represents a bold step forward in tackling homelessness across North London. SHP are building a dynamic, compassionate, and forward-thinking team to bring this vision to life. 

St. John’s Mansions will offer 19 beautifully finished self-contained studio flats, designed to support residents in their journey from rough sleeping and emergency accommodation to independent living. With a stay of up to 24 months, residents will receive tailored, high-intensity support to help them build the skills and confidence needed to thrive independently. 

The service will operate 24/7, with a welcoming reception and dedicated staff & clients spaces to enable both structured interventions and spontaneous, meaningful engagement. SHP will be working not only within Islington but in partnership with five North London boroughs - Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey, and Westminster. You’ll hold a caseload of clients and take the lead on delivering person centred, strengths based support that is grounded in PIE and trauma informed approaches. This includes completing holistic assessments, co-producing support plans and risk management plans, and working consistently towards move on goals. Alongside this, you’ll play a key role in the day to day running of the service, working closely with colleagues and partner agencies to maintain a safe, well managed environment, respond to emerging needs, and ensure each client receives coordinated, high quality support that supports their journey into independent living.

Overview

This is a unique opportunity to take on a senior, hands-on role within an innovative early help service working within a small, dynamic team to make a tangible difference to the lives of children and their families. As a Senior Family Support Worker, you will deliver flexible,and therapeutically minded support to families often facing multiple and complex challenges, drawing on your experience to provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced colleagues. You will build trusted relationships through home visits, school meetings, and provide practical support—facilitating parents and carers to feel empowered to strengthen routines, manage behaviour, improve attendance, and access services. We support our residents in developing coping strategies and building supportive relationships, with a commitment to professionalism, teamwork, and customer service. 

You will support with tenancy matters proactively, providing responsive support and fostering a positive environment where residents feel secure and valued. You will do this through a combination of producing tailored support plans, activities, and partnership working. You will support us continue to work in a trauma informed way, and create a psychologically informed environment, which supports us in creating a safe, respectful, and responsive environment which puts our people and communities at the forefront. Join us on our mission to empower independence through trauma-informed solutions and dynamic partnerships that keep people out of prison, out of hospital, and off the streets.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Build and maintain positive therapeutic relationships with residents, offering both practical assistance and emotional support.
• Equip residents with the necessary skills, experiences, networks, and training to help them transition into semi‑independent or independent living.
• Provide support with personal needs as required by residents.
• Take part in, and encourage residents to engage in, the delivery and development of projects, initiatives, training opportunities, and volunteering activities.
• Manage a caseload of residents, contributing to the creation and review of support plans, risk assessments, and progress reviews.
• Recognise early indicators of declining mental health and implement suitable interventions to prevent crisis situations.
• Promote financial and economic wellbeing while supporting residents in reintegrating into the community.

The service supports adults who have been or are at risk of homelessness, have experienced social exclusion, have previous criminal convictions, suffer with their mental health, and substance misuse, and/or could have a learning disability. About the Role

These roles are based in Cumberland North (Carlisle), Cumberland West (Workington) and Westmorland & Furness (Barrow). There is a requirements to travel to meet clients & work across areas as required, with a combination of home and office working.

As a Children and Young People IDVA (CHIDVA), you will play a vital role in providing high quality, end-to-end support to children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse across Cumberland. You will act as the single point of contact for young victims throughout their recovery process, delivering support and interventions in a group setting or one-to-one basis.

You will need: -

You will have a thorough understanding of domestic abuse and its impact on child victim/survivors.

You will understand safety and risk and how it relates to children and have strong communication skills and the confidence and ability to present and educate service users and agency partners on the realities and impacts of domestic abuse in a variety of settings. An ability to work independently and prioritise a busy workload is essential.

You will have the skills to provide effective crisis intervention, carry out risk assessments, safety planning, assessment of needs and individual support planning. You should have demonstrable experience of working in a similar setting or position.

To be successful in this role you should have good IT skills & thorough safe guarding awareness.

This role involves regular travel and due to the location, a driving license and access to a vehicle is considered an essential requirement. Job Purpose:

Women in Prison’s Project Workers deliver high-quality, trauma-informed, independent advocacy for women in communities and in prisons, which focuses on early intervention, and holistic provision as part of a ‘whole system’ multi-agency response that looks to address the root causes of women’s offending. This role offers the opportunity to be part of a successful national remote service, offering support via the phone or Zoom to affected adults in the UK. We are looking to recruit experienced Family Support professionals to provide these virtual support sessions to individual family members and sometimes groups. We are offering a number of roles at 15-20 hours per week, across 3-5 days, including Wednesday and at least 2 evenings per week (Mon-Wed).

Experience in supporting family members affected by someone else’s substance use is essential, as is experience with assessing and managing risk. Ideally, you would also have experience of working to support parents with their parenting and / or those experiencing domestic abuse. We offer fixed hours part time contracts within a friendly and supportive team.
