Westway Trust is seeking a dedicated Head of Operations with a minimum of 5 years’ senior leadership or operational management experience in a multi-disciplinary organisation, ideally within a community, charitable, social enterprise or values-led setting.

In this newly created role, you will act as a key advisor, reporting directly into the CEO, and will have responsibility of key areas of the Trust’s operational functions, ensuring the smooth and effective running and delivery of services. You will directly manage the leads of HR, Learning, Communications & Marketing, and Community Engagement, supporting them to deliver high-quality work and develop professionally.

Key responsibilities of the role include but not limited to:

• Oversight and line management of the HR, Learning, Communications & Marketing, and Community Engagement functions of the Trust.

• Be a key part of the Executive Team, chaired by the CEO.
• Maintain an overview of all projects and programmes of activity, outputs and outcomes within the role and ensure reports are written and submitted on time.
• Provide day-to-day operational leadership across teams, driving high performance, alignment with values, and maintaining individual, personal & team wellbeing.
• Develop and implement planning processes and performance management tools to ensure effective delivery of goals.
• Develop, drive and maintain the data gathering and analysis for the Westway Trust, that enables the Social Impact Framework and to play a key role in the organisation’s progress towards creating a strong narrative in respect of achievement. 
• Attend People Committee Meetings and the Board as requested, and contribute to the preparation of meeting papers as necessary in line with agenda requirements. 
• Provide upward reporting and insight to the CEO including written briefings, performance dashboards, and recommendations.
• Attend internal and external meetings, including those that require representing the Trust publicly, in line with agreed strategies and perspectives.
• Monitor, update and ensure compliance with organisational policies and legal requirements (e.g. safeguarding, employment, health & safety, data protection) to build a positive work culture.
• Champion collaboration and integration across departments, ensuring consistent implementation of work priorities that align with community needs and objectives.
• Support a values-based culture that centres equity, sustainability, openness, courage, and integrity.
• Contribute to organisational development and support the process of communicating and managing change effectively at the Trust in line with agreed policies and frameworks.

Essential Experience, Skills and Attributes:

• Minimum 5 years’ senior leadership or operational management experience in a multi-disciplinary organisation, ideally within a community, charitable, social enterprise or values-led setting.
• Proven ability to lead, guide and motivate diverse teams and to support the professional growth of those who report to you as a line manager.
• Demonstrable experience of good practice approaches to conflict resolution, working in collaboration with others and encouraging honesty, transparency and open ways of working across teams that benefit the organisation’s effectiveness and efficiency.
• Excellent planning, organisation and performance management skills.
• Excellent writing and reporting skills, including the ability to summarise complex data and issues for decision-makers.
• Experience in researching, developing and managing departmental budgets.
• Ability to analyse information, and formulate practical and reasoned operational plans that can be easily understood and monitored.
• Strong interpersonal and emotional intelligence skills – able to offer both moral and professional support to teams.
• Experience of supporting organisational change, transition, or transformation programmes.
• Experience of embedding inclusive and equitable practices across teams.
• Demonstrable alignment with the Trust’s values and commitment to anti-racism and community power.

Desirable Experience, Skills and Attributes:

• Previous experience overseeing HR or education/community programmes is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with communications/marketing functions is a plus but not essential.
• Degree-level education together with a recognised professional qualification in any of the fields this role covers - or equivalent lived/professional experience – is highly desirable.

We are recruiting a Therapeutic Practitioner to deliver For Baby’s Sake in the North East of England. The post will be home-based with some elements of hybrid working. Applicants must be based in the North East of England and be able to travel across the region to deliver a hybrid of online and face-to-face sessions.

For Baby’s Sake is an innovative, therapeutic, trauma-informed programme. We work with both co-parents individually, supporting a recovery framework to overcome the devastating effects of domestic abuse in their relationship. We acknowledge and explore unresolved and often complex childhood trauma and change harmful patterns of behaviour to develop a home environment where children can flourish. We adopt an attachment-focused parenting approach that enhances the opportunity for children to feel safe and secure, with parents who are emotionally available and attuned to all their needs.

There must be a current pregnancy to harness change motivations, a desire on behalf of both parents to coparent their unborn baby (although they do not have to be in a relationship), and we can work with the families up until the baby reaches the age of 2. The significance of this two-year timescale is evidenced in all recent child development research.

Trauma-informed practice is an approach adopted by For Baby’s Sake, which is grounded in the understanding that trauma exposure can impact an individual’s neurological, biological, psychological, and social development. You will have the opportunity to support the continued evolution of For Baby’s Sake whilst ensuring fidelity to the programme and sustaining the ethos and values of the For Baby’s Sake Trust. 

The For Baby’s Sake multi-disciplinary team consists of highly trained therapeutic practitioners capable of establishing and maintaining meaningful, trusting relationships that consistently guarantee engagement and, crucially, provide the framework for deeper, therapeutic exploration that allows co-parents to understand the impact of their own parenting experiences. To be part of this exceptional team, you must have demonstrable therapeutic skills, sound knowledge and experience of safeguarding children and adults, infant mental health, and a thorough understanding of the dynamics of domestic abuse, attachment, and the impact of unresolved trauma.

About the role

Funded by the Department for Education, the National Peer Support Service for England is a game-changing service that creates a sustainable and life-changing legacy. It builds on Kinship’s 10 years of experience in developing peer support groups and over two years of delivering a national service that has set up 145 new groups.

This role is community-based and focuses on engaging kinship carers, bringing them together to form peer support groups, and supporting them to achieve independence at which point they will receive ongoing support from our national Hub.

You will do this by working with local authorities, schools, other charities and community groups. Arranging information events such as coffee mornings to engage kinship carers. You’ll create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive community for kinship carers, building belonging, resilience, and empowerment.

About you

We are seeking a dynamic person located in or close to Greater Manchester, and willing to travel into priority areas across the North West of England who possesses the drive, passion, and skills to: 

• Establish new peer support groups across a diverse range of communities 
• Supervise a small team of Peer Support Development Officers 
• Demonstrate the energy and enthusiasm required to inspire yourself and your team to achieve key targets and objectives 
• Work collaboratively within the Peer Support and Community Team, as well as throughout the broader organisation, to ensure the delivery of safe and effective support services for the kinship community

In the role of Senior Peer Support Development Officer, you will be instrumental in ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, consistent, and sustainable peer support service that has a significant impact on the lives of kinship carers. 

You should have experience in developing and maintaining meaningful relationships with various community-based stakeholders such as local authorities, health services, schools, charities, and kinship carers. You will need to understand the key success factors involved in establishing and developing new in-person groups in areas of high need, as well as how to support existing groups in their journey toward sustainability.

An essential requirement of the role is to be a driver with access to a vehicle for work purposes.

Essential requirements include:

• Experience of team leadership or line management and supervision of a small team and managing performance to deliver targets effectively.
• Proven experience in reaching and establishing strong relationships with hidden or underserved communities in person.
• Experience developing peer support communities.
• Proven experience of recruiting, managing, training and supporting volunteers in community settings with an emphasis on understanding and working with vulnerable volunteers.  
• Proven experience of ensuring outcomes and impacts of services is evidenced through high-quality data collection.  
• Evidence of delivering training/support to volunteers, 
• Strong facilitation skills and essential experience of peer support or user led groups with charity beneficiaries.  
• Understanding of safeguarding particularly around vulnerable families.

You will be a highly motivated communications specialist with a proven track record of internal and external communications. You will have excellent planning and prioritisation skills to ensure timely delivery of tasks, along with prior proven experience managing social media channels that results in an impact of campaigns and engagement. 

Key Tasks

• To create content and coordinate internal communications across the Network staff team, ensuring the effective development and implementation of appropriate channels 
• To develop and maintain a communications content calendar when and how the Network’s activity will be effectively communicated
• To coordinate communications across the wider Network, including PTCs, Regional Hubs, and partners, including through the production and dissemination of a regular digital newsletter 
• To develop, post and oversee content for the Network’s social media channels to promote the effectiveness of the Network’s approach and the impact of PTCs and commissioners 
• To establish and maintain appropriate media links to ensure that the reality of poverty, and the impact of commissioners in seeking to alleviate it, is effectively shared

Carers’ Resource is a charity which has been supporting unpaid carers for over 30 years across Bradford and North Yorkshire. We offer them information, advice and guidance, support for their emotional and physical health as well as groups and activities to provide time out and peer support. We also administer support grants for carers on behalf of local authorities.

We are looking for a Head of Operations (Carer Services) to effectively lead and manage the delivery of high-quality effective services for unpaid carers, from 5 years old to senior adulthood, across Bradford and North Yorkshire.

This is an exciting new post to take our effective delivery of carer services to new heights in terms of continuously improving the quality of support for unpaid carers and ensuring we enable more unpaid carers from across our communities to access support.

Schools Coordinator

We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for a Schools Coordinator (Impact Officer) to work as the primary link between partner schools and the CYUK programme.

Join a youth social action charity challenges 18 to 25-year-olds to tackle educational inequality through a year of full-time social action. As mentors, tutors and role models in schools, they support pupils growing up in some of the most disadvantaged areas of the UK.

Position: Schools Coordinator (internal title School Impact Officer)

School locations: M32 0XA and M20 5PG - 4 days school based

Training location: M12 6FZ - 1 day per week (with some working from home)

Working schedule: Term-time working (except for the second half of August)

Hours: Working hours are 8:00-4:30, Monday to Friday.

Salary: £25,432 per annum

The Role

We have a rewarding opportunity for a School Impact Officer to train, support and develop volunteers and monitor the programme through effective administration, data management and to build a deep partnership between the school and the charity.

The Impact Officer is based predominantly in a school and is the primary link between the partner schools and the programme and is the enabler of the programme delivery.  You will support a team of volunteer mentors, who support school activities by coordinating, managing and evaluating the programme.

The Volunteer Mentors also complete a Leadership and Development programme and you will work with them on a professional development plan to chart their continuous professional development and ready them for employment.

The role is primarily a school-based post from Monday to Thursday and is based in a regional venue on most Fridays. See locations above.

About You

To be successful in this role you will need to be passionate about social change and serving a great cause. As the School Impact Officer, you will strive for excellence and support the core vision and values of the charity.

You will have:

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

· Strong supervision skills, able to connect and communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders

· The ability to understand school leadership priorities

· Flexibility in your approach to meet volunteers and pupils developmental needs

· The ability to cope well with multiple demands and to ask for support in ambiguous situations

· Ability to prioritise work to meet tight deadlines delegate appropriately and apply problem-solving skills effectively

· Good IT knowledge

· A proactive attitude, with the ability to use initiative and a professional manner and approach

Whilst not essential experience of working in a school or with schools would be an advantage in this role.

Job Purpose

 Our Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme (RSVP) is a volunteer-led project that encourages, facilitates and supports older people aged 50+ to keep active by volunteering in their community.  RSVP believes that by volunteering and using their life experience and skills, older people are less likely to be socially isolated and suffer from poor mental and physical health and wellbeing. Current RSVP activities in Forth Valley include volunteering programmes within NHS hospitals and primary schools, charitable knitting groups, walking groups, and a Handyperson Scheme.  Over 1500 older people have engaged over the last 25 years. 

 We are looking for a Development Worker who can work flexibly, is driven, and is passionate about supporting older people to take part in volunteering.  The right candidate would be someone with excellent communication, relationship building, and organisation skills as well as experience of recruiting, coordinating and managing volunteers.  It is important that the post holder can commit to our organisational values - being Compassionate, Empowering, Inclusive, Positive and Straightforward.

You will lead to attract, recruit and support new RSVP volunteers, targeting older people who already are, or are at risk of, social isolation and poor health.  You will work closely with a small team of Volunteer Organisers, supporting and empowering them to deliver and develop existing and new RSVP activities across Forth Valley.

As a Training and Development Officer, you will be working directly with teachers and other education staff supporting their journeys in taking curriculum learning and play outside and to utilise their school grounds. You will deliver LtL’s training and projects within diverse communities across a significant geographical area. This role is part of our exciting new climate change education initiative. · To be able to cover early evening training sessions throughout the area this role covers

· Experience of delivering projects with diverse communities

· Experience of training and advising educational staff in primary or secondary schools.

· Experience of producing written materials; educational resources, reports, and similar project related communications
