We’re looking for a Research Manager who combines exceptional ability in research and report-writing, with a real passion for (and experience in) peacebuilding. Representation Manager

We are recruiting for a Representation Manager to be the Department Manager of the Representation team, and to run our Academic Representation System, in collaboration and partnership with UWE Bristol!

The Representation Manager is also the organisational lead for Democracy and Governance here at The Students’ Union at UWE. This includes our annual Elections, supporting elected presidents and part time officers, keeping up to date on current policy and the constitution, and making recommendations for change to the Director of Engagement.

The Representation Manager works closely with student leaders and representatives to deepen partnerships and develop strategies to lobby or influence decision makers to achieve policy change related to the academic experience. This postholder will also enhance the democratic operation of The Students’ Union through coherent governance and a robust and effective elections process. The person in this role will also manage a number of key stakeholder relationships, particularly with academic College and support staff, so you’ll be an effective communicator and able to produce high quality reports. 

The Representation Manager will be responsible for effectively managing the three Representation Coordinators in post, leading the department to develop, facilitate and support the system of academic student representation and deliver and showcase impact. With the support of the Representation Manager, the Representation Coordinators will support, develop and enable a network of over 1,000 student representatives, a core part of our Representation system.

You’ll have experience of coordinating, developing, or managing successful projects, you could have background in developing policy, and/or engaging with customers and stakeholders to receive feedback and making changes as a result. You will know how to collaborate with different people, building strong and effective relationships. You’re an effective project manager who can develop and oversee structures and processes and can bring creativity and ideas to problem solving.

Being a people manager here at The Students’ Union at UWE will involve using our people excellence tools to enable staff to feel supported and empowered during their employee lifecycle to achieve their objectives and results. About the Role

The YWF Youth Voice Coordinator Role

This role offers an exciting opportunity to coordinate and lead YWF’s revamped youth engagement initiatives. Collaborating closely with our Youth Voice Consultant and the entire team, you will bring passion, creativity, professionalism and ambition to implement our youth voice plans. These plans are informed by a recent review and are supported by a theory of change.  Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in amplifying this work and the voices of young people involved with YWF through our social media platforms.

This position also provides avenues for professional growth and development. By directly overseeing interns engaged in YWF activities, you will gain valuable experience in staff development and play a crucial role in nurturing the next generation of youth leaders! Youth Outreach and Recruitment

• Undertake outreach and recruitment efforts to attract a diverse group of young people from the YWF membership to participate in YWF's engagement initiatives (currently known as the Young Ambassadors) - working closely with members and key stakeholders to do so.
• Ensure these strategies and communication channels are youth-focussed, inclusive and accessible.

YWF Youth Engagement Strategy Development & Coordination

• Help develop and coordinate YWF's youth engagement and youth voice initiatives including engaging the Young Ambassadors in a YWF engagement program, workshops, internships, trusteeships, panels, peer-research, grant-making, member visits etc.
• Ensure young people are supported to engage in outward-facing opportunities - events, social media, co-production, member visits.

• Support internal pathways for the Young Ambassadors into YWF Internships and external pathways into supported paid opportunities within the borough e.g. research, youth consultancy etc.

• Work closely with the Marketing & Engagement Manager to communicate the voices and work of young people within YWF through various social media platforms - including supporting young people to gather content.

 

Internship Oversight

• Support and coordinate YWF  interns - providing guidance, mentorship and direction to ensure effective program implementation - working to integrate and support interns within different areas of the team.

Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration

• Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including young people, members, staff, volunteers and partner organisations to share best practices, support collaboration and drive forward impactful strategies.

Project Management

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Mind CHWF to join our Psychological Therapies and Wellbeing team as a Wellbeing Network Admin Coordinator. We are seeking an individual who will be immersed in the day-to-day running of Psychological Therapies and Wellbeing services at Mind CHWF and contribute to its smooth running and efficiency under the guidance of its managers. This will include direct client contact and involve the setting up of psychological therapies assessments, allocations, group courses, room bookings and the management of Salesforce. THE ROLE
A key member of the team responsible for delivering and developing our new visitor offer at Hainault Forest, predominantly through the running of our Woodland Trust Visitor Centre. The role is responsible for helping to staff the visitor centre on a rota basis; providing an important meet & greet function to visitors as well as signposting, providing information about the site, recruiting members and undertaking retail transactions.

The Marketing and Communications Officer will lead on the marketing and communications aspects of the Hainault Forest visitor experience, ensuring that visitors have a high quality experience while here, and also raising the profile of the forest in the local community and beyond. This role will contribute to engaging people with the forest in a way that inspires them to take action and connect with our cause. Alongside partner colleagues at Vision Redbridge, they will develop and deliver an annual communications and marketing plan that fit our themes and propositions, creating opportunities for membership recruitment, fundraising and retail sales.

Our work at Hainault Forest is delivered in partnership with London Borough of Redbridge and Vision RCL. 

This is a part time role (2.5 days per week) and a fixed term contract until May 2025.

THE CANDIDATE
You’ll have experience and knowledge of marketing and communications channels, ensuring they are utilised to engage effectively with different audiences. You’ll have a passion for helping others to see the value of the environment around them, and be a creative thinker who can work well collaboratively as part of a small, dedicated team.

You’ll need to be comfortable talking to all kinds of people to take on this role, be able to deliver excellent customer care and delivering high quality face to face engagement activities. You’ll have experience identifying and targeting a defined audience as well as finding opportunities to target new audiences, understanding how different marketing strategies can be used.

Position: Refuge Service Manager

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and dedicated Service Manager to join our team in Islington. The role involves managing three refuges within the London borough of Islington, providing high-quality, trauma-informed support and accommodation to women and children who have fled domestic abuse. This position requires a strong leader capable of managing conflicting priorities in a busy environment, while ensuring that survivors are at the heart of service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Service Delivery: Oversee the Islington refuge service to ensure compliance with contract requirements, internal standards, and relevant quality marks. Address safeguarding concerns in line with policies, and ensure team and individual work plans are in place and monitored.
• Team Leadership: Lead, develop, and motivate staff and volunteers through line management support, coaching, mentoring, regular team meetings, case reviews, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
• Performance Management: Manage staff performance by effectively using the case management system, setting and communicating performance targets, monitoring performance against service KPIs, and supporting staff to address under-performance.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Establish and maintain effective relationships with other organisations, identify training and development opportunities with key partners, and act as an ambassador at key meetings and forums.
• Policy and Financial Management: Ensure adherence to policies and procedures, support the development of the annual budget, review management accounts, and maximise local fundraising opportunities.

The HALO Trust are looking for an experienced and driven Philanthropy and Grants Manager to lead and develop high value relationships with philanthropic donors, with a focus on Trust and Foundations (and potentially corporates). 

The Global Philanthropy Team works to secure support for the delivery of vital projects to save lives and protect livelihoods in conflict affected countries around the world, as well as build organisational resilience and support innovative areas of work.  HALO’s philanthropic income has grown significantly in recent years, driven by introductions from our network of trustees, ambassadors and advocates and our focus on strategic and transformational partnerships. We are a small team of highly skilled, experienced and driven fundraisers with a collaborative team culture. The team is supported by a Philanthropy Operations Manager, Philanthropy Assistant and Global Philanthropy Research and Insight Lead (who leads on research and due diligence). In 2024 a Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships for the Middle East will join our team to lead relationship development in this key market. 

You will join a fast-paced, fluid and entrepreneurial context, responding to opportunities while laying the critical foundations for strategic growth. 

While the role is likely to focus on Trusts and Foundations (and potentially corporates) due to our networked approach and the strategic and interconnected nature of our partnerships, supported by networks of advocates, we do not overly separate relationships between Trusts/Foundations, corporates and HNWIs.  This provides team members with varied opportunities in terms of the relationships they lead and the high-level stakeholders they work with. From briefing our Chief Executive prior to a meeting with a new potential donor for Ukraine, to engaging existing partners in the potential expansion of work in the Middle East, you will play a key role in making HALO’s lifesaving work possible.

About the role:

The HALO Trust has more than doubled in size over the last eight years by growing support from both Governments and philanthropic donors.  Global income from philanthropic donors (including the US) has significantly increased over the past five years – from circa £4 million to £15 million in 2022/23 and reaching a further peak of £44 million in 2023/24 in response to exceptional donor support for Ukraine. Unpinning this is growth in six and seven figure partnerships with major donors, corporates and foundations, initiated by our exceptionally well-connected network of trustees and ambassadors - and nurtured by our committed and professional global philanthropy team.

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead growth within a portfolio of high value (six and potentially seven figure) relationships by providing excellence in supporter stewardship and through the development and delivery of relationship strategies, in collaboration with the Director of Philanthropy and Head of Global Grant Partnerships
• Support senior HALO staff, advocates and trustees to engage and inspire individuals linked to agreed relationships
• Work with international programme teams to ensure the development of high-quality proposals and reports to tight deadlines

Essential Requirements:

• Three years' experience of personally leading successful relationships with high value philanthropic donors (Trust and Foundations, corporates or high net worth individuals or equivalent), including those giving at the six or seven figure level
• Experience of building effective relationships with advocates linked to philanthropic donors
• An excellent communicator with the ability to build relationships with staff and colleagues in different cultural environments
• Outstanding written skills with the ability to work with programme and finance colleagues to design robust project proposals, reporting, and monitoring and evaluation
• Confident in working with financial information including project budgets
• Excellent written and verbal skills with strong attention to detail
• Outstanding interpersonal skills including ability to demonstrate tact, sophistication and gravitas 
• Experience of working with a fundraising database to maximise relationship development
• A commitment to HALO’s mission and objectives
• Strong intellectual curiosity and the ability to articulate HALO’s various programmes and strategies in a compelling way
