The Communications Officer will be responsible for supporting the communications and digital team to maintain consistent and high-quality communications across our global membership, donors and external stakeholders. 

They will handle the day-to-day operations of our programme communications, website, social media platforms, member community forum, asset management, email marketing, and event communication, ensuring consistent messaging and branding.

The post-holder will need to have a collaborative and inclusive spirit as this role will involve working closely and across teams within and outside Start Network. They will be a great writer, editor with good attention to detail, and an eye for design.

The Communications Officer will report to the Communications Manager and will work closely with the Digital team to ensure success of both digital and traditional communications.

 KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Content development, publication, and dissemination

• Craft and edit compelling multimedia content for a global audience including news articles, press releases, blogs, videos, and case studies

• Adapt content for websites, social media, email campaigns, etc., ensuring each format is optimized for its specific audience and channel. 

• Plan and maintain the content calendar together with the Digital team to ensure consistent delivery and audience engagement. 

• Promote and disseminate content through various channels including but not limited to social media and partner platforms 

• Collaborate with Start Network teams, members, and hubs to transform and disseminate reports, learning materials, grants, impact stories and other resources into clear, compelling, and accessible formats. 

• Uphold the Start Network brand by ensuring all external facing materials is according to the brand guidelines 

 COMMUNICATIONS MATERIALS, AND ASSETS 

• Develop and maintain communication materials of Start Network including but not limited to fact sheets, brochures, marketing materials, presentations, core scripts, impact reports, guidance and templates, etc and ensure the team and members are able to effectively use them

• Ensure that visibility guidelines for members and programmes are kept up to date, and work with members and hubs to ensure these are being used accordingly

• Maintain the organisation and accessibility of Start Network's digital assets. This includes maintaining our digital asset platform and keeping tabs on photos, videos, presentations, logos, and other creative materials from and for members, hubs, and the Start Network team.

COMMUNICATIONS PLATFORM MANAGEMENT 

• Support the management of Start Network’s social media channels and manage day-to-day engagement in close collaboration with the Digital team 

• Lead the management of the member community by posting weekly news and updates from across our programmes and lead on the production of email newsletters and e-marketing. 

• Support the management of digital platforms handled by the Communications and Digital team 

• Communication operations 

• Support the communications team meetings, including book diaries and setting up Zoom links when relevant. 

• Manage the communications inbox and ensure enquiries are dealt with swiftly. 

• Work with the finance team to process invoices from communications suppliers. 

• Ensure communications contacts and relationships are managed using Salesforce. 

• Closely work with Event Coordinator to ensure Start Network events are well-promoted and disseminated

Senior Communications Officer

The Clean Air Fund is looking to recruit a Senior Communications Officer to join their Strategic Partnerships and Communications team in London. This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing organisation whose mission is to use philanthropic grants to catalyse a reduction in air pollution.   

As a Senior Communications Officer with Clean Air Fund you would help to support the Clean Air Fund’s communications and engagement with our key audiences of governments, funders, businesses, researchers, civil society organisations and campaigners. You will help proactively shape and deliver Clean Air Fund’s strategic communications activities to tackle global air pollution. You will lead our social media strategy and management to grow our digital audiences and foster deeper engagement. The Events Officer plays a key role in our highly effective communications team, leading on the delivery of an impactful programme of events – both online and in person. The role works with teams from across the organisation to plan, deliver and promote all types of events, including workshops, roundtables, conferences, webinars, receptions and other types of online and in person events.

Events are an important way for Ageing Better to influence priority audiences, including businesses and local and national government, and the postholder will advise teams on how events can best reach these audiences, encourage engagement and lead to lasting relationships.

This role sits within the Communications team, and the postholder will be responsible for drafting comms content, such as blogs and social media posts, particularly in relation to event promotion.

Can you harness the power of stories to improve life for people with dementia and those around them?

Our magazine, Dementia together, helps people affected by dementia to feel less isolated and better able to make decisions. We also inspire readers and listeners to be a force for change by campaigning, fundraising and more – people act on the real-life stories and ideas that we share.

You’ll work with the Magazine Editor to plan and create content that reflects the full range of people’s experiences of dementia, being true to their voices while also fulfilling the Society’s aims. You’ll speak with a great range of people in this role – people with a dementia diagnosis, their carers, friends and relatives, supporters, volunteers, activists, researchers, and colleagues across our teams as well as representatives from other organisations.
 
You’ll help make content available online and elsewhere, producing a podcast and enabling colleagues to draw on our content and material in other ways too.
We never stop improving what we do and how we do it. One example is our focus on finding new ways to involve people with lived experience of dementia in planning and creating content.

The role

The Senior PR and Press Officer will raise the voice and impact of the CIPD in media and wider communications activities in pursuit of its core purpose of championing better work and working lives

What you’ll be doing

• Managing incoming media enquiries, ensuring journalists receive a prompt and efficient response and briefing spokespeople to help turn incoming enquiries into opportunities to proactively communicate key messages.
• Maximising media coverage to support the CIPD’s strategic priorities and our research, policy and campaign agenda. This will involve regularly translating policy matters and research findings into accessible news stories that will resonate with different stakeholder audiences.
• Being part of a wider team, which creates and delivers integrated marketing communications campaigns. You will have responsibility for managing the media element of certain campaigns.
• Building and maintaining relationships with trade media, national and broadcast journalists as part of our busy and respected press office. You will also work closely with the editorial team that manage our CIPD magazines: People Management and Work.
• Working with the PR Manager, Head of Marketing Communications, and wider team to protect and enhance the reputation of the CIPD.
• Supporting communications colleagues in our regional and international offices.
• Ensuring that the CIPD’s online media centre is an up-to-date resource for the media, CIPD members and other visitors to the website, and that press releases are distributed in a timely way.
• Proactively placing and writing articles for a variety of media and ensuring all articles from CIPD spokespeople are consistent with the CIPD’s key messages.
• Being part of the team that plan and run the on-site press offices for our annual conferences.
• Building strong working relationships with third party stakeholders, including commercial and strategic partners.

What you’ll need to be successful

• An excellent writer and communicator, able to create compelling copy for a range of audiences and channels.
• Extensive experience and knowledge in media relations.
• Strong awareness of media with good contacts in the national media.
• Able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, juggling competing deadlines and shifting priorities at short notice.
• Ability to provide consultancy to the rest of the organisation, including the senior management team.
• A real team player, able to build relationships with teams across the business.
• Able to represent the organisation when working with media and other stakeholders.
• Has a good understanding of using social media channels to further our key messages and ensure that traditional and social media activities are aligned.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the Digital Asset Management tool, ensuring timely updates of brand assets and guidance for staff and fellows.
• Conduct induction training on the Digital Asset Management tool and brand for new and existing staff members, maintaining a comprehensive training database.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external experts to audit and implement best practices across the organisation.
• Approve brand reviews for various organisational outputs, adhering to visual and tone of voice guidelines.
• Conduct annual brand tracker surveys in partnership with the Senior Insights and Database Manager, sharing insights to boost brand awareness.
• Ensure consistent application of top-tier organisational messaging across all channels, supporting updates through thorough auditing and project implementation.
• Regularly review and update brand and editorial guidelines in collaboration with the team.
• Oversee co-branding initiatives, implementing a structured tracking and approval process.

Candidate Profile:

• Proven experience in data-driven marketing performance analysis.
• Strong background in brand management and stakeholder collaboration.
• Proficient in training and leading change initiatives.
• Effective planning and resource management skills.
• Familiarity with CRM, campaign planning, and social media management tools.

As the social media officer, you’ll help manage an audience of more than 200,000 people across X, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn and YouTube. You’ll respond to comments and messages from the public, engage with our audiences and work with our MS Helpline team to ensure vulnerable supporters get the help they need.

You’ll have a genuine passion for creating engaging social content and a keen interest in the latest trends and social media platform developments.

Working closely with our Social and Paid Media Manager, you will help to scope for and identify new opportunities to grow our online community developing engaging content across news, media, support, information and our core campaigns.

Planning and strong copy-writing skills are essential and you will thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment. You’ll also help maintain regular reports on KPIs and performance.
