About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Young Enterprise at a key moment of growth and ambition for our policy and public affairs work. As Policy and Public Affairs Officer, you’ll help shape how we champion the voices and experiences of young people, ensuring their needs are reflected in decisions about education, skills and financial capability. Working closely with the Policy Lead and colleagues across the organisation, you’ll support the development of evidence-informed policy positions and contribute to impactful influencing and engagement activity.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor developments in education, skills and related policy areas, identifying what they mean for young people and Young Enterprise’s work.
• Support the development of Young Enterprise’s policy positions through research, analysis and evidence gathering.
• Help plan and deliver public affairs and stakeholder engagement activities, including events, parliamentary briefings and meetings.
• Contribute to campaigns that aim to influence policy and raise the profile of issues affecting young people.
• Draft high-quality written outputs such as consultation responses, meeting notes, articles and social media content.
• Support policy networks and relationships, including Secretariat support for the APPG for Financial Education for Young People.
• Work closely with colleagues across programmes, research, communications and fundraising to align policy priorities and messaging.

A few practical things

• This is a hybrid role, with a minimum requirement to work from our London office in Brunswick Square at least 8 days per month.
• The role involves regular travel to Westminster for meetings and events, and occasional travel to other parts of the UK.
• Occasional evening and weekend work will be required for events, with time off in lieu provided.

Duties and key responsibilities

Database Administration (Raiser’s Edge NXT)

• Manage, maintain and optimise constituent and gift data on Raiser’s Edge NXT to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Support the Database Officer with processing incoming donations from online giving platforms including JustGiving and Fundraise Up to ensure accurate integration and reconciliation.
• Support the Database Officer with monthly reconciliations between Raiser’s Edge NXT and the income spreadsheet.
• Work with the Database Manager to develop and manage Omatic Cloud automated processes for importing constituent and gift data from external fundraising platforms.
• Support the Database Manager in designing and monitoring database KPIs.
• Lead data cleansing and housekeeping projects including data retention, consent and Gift Aid reviews identifying areas for improvement and implementation of best practice in collaboration with the Database Manager and Database Officer.
• Support fundraising stewardship through event management, automated workflows and mailing list coordination.
• Process and record Gift Aid declarations in accordance with HMRC guidelines.
• Maintain high standards of data quality, GDPR compliance and robust data controls.

Data Reporting and Insights

The Senior Manager, Policy & Campaigns will be central to this mission, leading the development of policy positions and research that strengthens Mission 44’s ability to influence decision-makers and shape public discourse.

The Programmes Officer will play an integral part in the Employability team to help deliver on these initiatives and the long-term aims of the organisation. This role will primarily support the delivery of Pathways Online and Access Apprenticeships (delivered both online and in person), currently covering the Law, Banking & Finance and Engineering sectors. The officer will support programmes in 2 of the 3 sectors highlighted.

This role will sit within the Employability team, which is a subdivision of the Programmes team, led by the Head of Employability. The role will be line managed by the Employability Programmes Manager.

Main duties

• Onboarding of new cohorts of students for our Pathways Online and Access Apprenticeships Programmes

• Delivering both online and in-person events for students across the programmes. Duties include presenting activities, organising logistics, providing technical support, and encouraging student engagement

• Be the main point of contact for students on the programme. Including leading on student comms (newsletter and info packs), responding to student enquiries and building relationships with beneficiaries to ensure that we are provide tailored and impactful support.

• Using student data to monitor engagement and develop strategies to enhance engagement and participation

• Maintaining and updating the Trust's CRM system (Salesforce) to ensure accurate beneficiary details and activity records.

• Arranging and booking of student travel for in person events and work experience placements

• Use our online platform (Sutton Trust Online) to drive student engagement through creating and updating content

• Liaising with external stakeholders such as universities and employers to support logistical and administrative elements of programme delivery

• Supporting on the creation of reports for funders and programme partners based on student engagement and feedback data

About the role

The Community, Events and Education Lead is a critical member of WaterAid’s Mass Engagement Department, driving forward both marketing and fundraising from a range of audiences, as well as leading our Special Events and volunteering activities.

It is a broad role that offers the opportunity to reimagine this area and set a new transformational direction for the team. It is an area that has significant opportunities for income growth and requires a Team Lead to focus our efforts on the largest opportunities. In addition, they should have senior management training or equivalent experience and a clear record of continuing professional development. Accountable to our Board of Trustees and the wider membership, the new CEO will develop the strategic direction of the Association and lead the organisation to deliver a rolling medium-term Strategic Business Plan, balanced budgets and effective governance in compliance with company and charity law. An ability to prioritise planned and reactive work programmes to meet the needs of our membership is required, alongside the sourcing and delivery of timely bids for external funding together with the management of staff and resources to ensure value for money and staff wellbeing.
