About the role
University Access Officers are responsible for delivering The Access Project’s high impact mentoring programme to students across our partner schools. This role works with a caseload of students supporting them from the start of Year 10 up to the end of Year 13 to understand the pathway to a top university.
The role also involves project coordination, working with our schools, volunteers and teams across The Access Project to ensure our young people are fully supported and have the best possible chance of achieving social mobility and enhancing their future prospects.
This role is for a University Access Officer to work across our two schools in Cumbria, The Whitehaven Academy and Workington Academy. Our schools are shown on a map on our website.
Role responsibilities
- Work directly with young people mentoring a caseload of students in a professional and safe manner.
- Deliver our University Readiness programme through in-depth, targeted 1:1 mentoring sessions with Year 10 to Year 13 students.
- Assess student progress towards being able to make successful university applications.
- Engage with students in school and enrol them onto the programme.
- Match students with volunteer tutors.
- Monitor student attendance to tutorials and devise innovative solutions to encourage attendance.
- Monitor the impact of tutorials and intervene as appropriate.
- Build and manage relationships with volunteer tutors to ensure they have a positive experience of the programme.
- Manage tutor attendance to tutorials through weekly monitoring systems.
- Lead on quality assurance of tuition pairings/grouping completing a caseload of drop ins.
- Upload information onto the Salesforce database (training is provided).
- Work with school staff to ensure their cooperation and timely completion of activities contributing to the smooth running of the programme.
- Direct enrolled students to appropriate wider enrichment opportunities, encouraging both extra and super-curricular participation and reflection.
- Work with Enrichment & Events team and partner schools to deliver school trips to universities, including trip logistics and leading groups of young people on trip days.
- Lead on all student facing comms.
- Send regular summary updates to school as their key point of contact.
- Present at termly school meetings with Senior Management to report on programme progress.

Training and Development
You will be provided with regular monthly training so that you can develop your skills and succeed in the role. There is support and supervision from your line manager (Programme Manager), as well as guidance from Senior University Access Officers and the wider University Access Officer team across The Access Project. There are opportunities for progression, including several additional responsibility roles which are available for University Access Officers to apply for once they have completed their probationary period successfully.

The Project Officer provides oversight and project management of the College’s External Quality Assurance (EQA) governance and oversight programme and associated work.

Demand for our specialist tutoring programmes for Children Looked After, those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC) continues to increase and we are seeking a dedicated and effective Partnerships Account Manager to join our team and support the increased demand for our provision and the continued scaling of our organisation.
The Organisation
Equal Education is a social enterprise working to improve outcomes and narrow the attainment gap for disadvantaged and under-resourced learners, including Children Looked After, those with SEND, and unaccompanied asylum seeking children. We have over 13 years’ experience delivering 1:1 tuition, working with hundreds of Schools and Local Authority partners across the country, reaching hundreds of pupils annually.
As a member of the Fair Education Alliance, we believe in providing meaningful educational provision to students whose needs may not be best met within a traditional classroom environment, those who aren’t currently accessing education, or who benefit from additional 1:1 support. We work with over 400 qualified teachers to provide academic, subject specialised and individual tutoring and mentoring for children of all ages. Tutors provide pastoral care and work with pupils to increase engagement and attainment. Our programmes will help the students to overcome barriers to learning, help them build trusted relationships, increase their aspirations, and fulfil their potential. What is the Role?
The Partnerships Account Manager will drive business growth by securing new partnerships and managing key client accounts across designated regions. With a focus on building and sustaining long-term local council and school relationships, the Partnerships Account Manager will work closely with clients to understand their needs, expand our service offerings, and ensure the highest levels of satisfaction. The majority of our key client relationships are with local councils, so a knowledge of how they operate would be very useful.

About the Role
We are looking to hire a skilled and engaging Education Officer to join a busy team, supporting the implementation and expansion of an established educational outreach programme, which reaches children in Scotland and Northern England.
At present, this post has funding for three years from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, 1.5 years of which is now complete and we are looking for someone to deliver the second 1.5 years of the project.
The purpose of the role is to extend passion and knowledge of beavers into communities around Britain, to engage and enthuse young people and to reconnect (or reinforce) their love of nature. Using and tailoring current materials and resources, you will do so by delivering high-quality learning sessions within schools, community groups or virtual training sessions, sometimes delivered in conjunction with beaver site partners and their education teams.
You will also be responsible for supporting wider aspects of the programme together with the Education Team, according to the requirements for each country and in partnership with relevant organisations

· Deliver a range of exciting, curriculum-linked workshops, non-curriculum home education talks, school and group sessions associated with beaver release sites.

This is a joint role delivered by Class 13 as part of two interconnected programmes in Lambeth. One is a long-term embedded pilot working deeply with two local schools to reimagine school culture from the inside out. Education governance refers to the systems, policies, and processes through which an education system or institution is controlled, managed, and held accountable to achieve its goals and ensure quality.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a friendly, agile and highly collaborative governance team that is deeply committed to serving schools and ensuring added value through robust governance. We are looking for a diplomatic and self-motivated Governance Officer who will be able to deal with a wide range of tasks and enquiries in an efficient and organised manner. You will be an integral part of ensuring day-to-day delivery of effective governance at all levels, including supporting processes related to parental complaints and pupil suspensions/exclusions, and will act as a main point of contact for schools.
This role plays a crucial part in ensuring that our schools operate within a strong governance framework and that statutory and trust procedures are followed fairly and consistently. You will work closely with school leaders and our regional officers to ensure the effective handling of sensitive and complex matters.
An interest in education governance is warmly welcomed and will be supported through professional development opportunities, but it is not essential for this role.

About the Role
The Governance Officer provides efficient, proactive and values led governance support to ensure that all governance work is achieved within set time scales.
Duties include
- Supporting the Head of Leadership Office & Governance to ensure that the organisation keeps up to date and fulfils all governance and charity requirements whilst promoting, implementing and monitoring good governance policies and procedures;
- Support delivery of organisational compliance with reporting and meeting the regulatory requirements of Companies House and the Charities Commission through maintenance of the organisation’s on-line accounts.
- Planning and arranging the annual schedule of Board and Committee meetings and manage logistical requirements including diary liaison for the meetings;
- Acting as liaison person for Board members (booking hotels, dealing with expense claims,responding to routine queries etc.);
- Administering the whole process of Board & Committee meetings including minute taking and drafting clear, well structured, Board and Committee papers.

The Organisation
Action on Disability (AoD), founded in 1979, is one of London’s leading Disabled People’s Organisations (DPOs). As we believe in the Social Model of Disability, our values and principles embrace inclusive and accessible ways of working, seeking co-production and co-design from our Disabled members, encouraging and respecting diversity. AoD is a medium sized charity with a Board of Trustees, 27 staff, a strong pool of casual staff and volunteers, including many with lived experience of disability – all of whom are passionate about removing the barriers faced by Disabled people.
Action on Disability provides four key services: Youth, Employment, Welfare Benefits, and Independent Living.
The Project
Our Place is a project that is facilitated and managed by AoD. It is a 3-year National Lottery Community fund and Propel London funded project that will sit within our Independent Living Service. Our Place creates a community space and resource hub that Disabled people can call their own – led by them and facilitated by AoD staff. This service will be genuinely embedded in the local area, meeting needs expressed by local Disabled people to have their own place, and building links with amenities, businesses, and event spaces in Hammersmith and Fulham.
We want to enable businesses to feel more confident to welcome Disabled people and remove barriers. We want to create an inclusive and accessible space for Disabled people to socialise, build skills, pursue interests, and develop peer relationships.
Our Place operates alongside, and enhances, our current service provision. Central to this is ensuring that Disabled people have meaningful ownership over the space, from Steering Board input to operational delivery.
Disabled people will achieve their potential through four outcomes:
- Increased confidence, knowledge, and skills through opportunities to lead, learn and do new things.
- Reduced isolation and improved mental well-being through a place to socialise.
- Equity of access and participation in the local community.
- Mitigation of the pandemic’s impact, through building new opportunities.
The Post
We are looking for a full time Project delivery support officer with a commitment to the vision of AoD to promote Independent Living, Peer Support and Co-production within this project. You will have strong community project delivery, administration and support skills, good written and oral communication skills, and the ability to support the project and work effectively as part of a team. Your working hours will be dependent on the Our Place project activity schedule and may include early evening and weekend work.
Essential
- An understanding, commitment and positive attitude toward Disability and experience of working for and with Disabled people.
- Demonstrable experience of community project delivery.
- Experience of coordinating the delivery of projects
- Experience of supporting the fulfilment of reporting and monitoring needs.
- Able to demonstrate an understanding of boundary management in relation to volunteers, staff and those who access a service.
- An understanding of working within a multiagency, person-centered approach
- Professional knowledge and experience of implementing safeguarding procedures and purpose.
