Wandsworth WellFamily and Foodbank Service is an adult mental health service serving the Wandsworth community and based in foodbanks and GP surgeries across the London Borough of Wandsworth. We offer short term, holistic support focusing on the needs of the whole family whilst directly supporting the adult.

New funding has enabled us to create this post which will focus on increasing our capacity and inclusivity to provide emotional and practical support to the most vulnerable foodbank guests, who present with complex needs. This will involve providing a short-term intervention of up to two sessions, making safeguarding referrals where appropriate, liaising with GP’s and improving their access to services.

The other facet to the role will involve building new links with marginalised communities in Wandsworth, such as Refugee and Asylum Seekers, people with substance misuse, victims of domestic violence and the LGBTQ+ community. The goal is to reduce health inequalities including racism and all forms of discrimination.

Training Coordinator

The post-holder will design, deliver, procure, and oversee high-quality training, formation and development programmes to meet the specific needs of the Pastoral Development Department in its support for the local church (parishes and deaneries) and beyond, in line with the new Pastoral Plan.

The key initial priorities of this role are to:

- Audit the current training, formation, and pastoral development needs across the archdiocese.

- Identify effective strategies, platforms and subject matter experts to meet these needs, and design initial training and formation.

- Support the delivery of the pastoral plan, area 2 – vocation of baptised.

You will be joining a small team of professionals who are all committed to supporting the delivery of the Pastoral Plan.

Kinship care begins in crisis. A child whose parents are unable to care for them, for whatever reason. It’s frightening, confusing and heart-breaking. Instinctively, a loved one steps in – a grandparent, brother, sister, aunt, uncle or family friend. They are now a kinship carer, bringing up the children they love. It’s life changing and challenging raising children who’ve been hurt or neglected, but kinship carers do it anyway because they put the children first. 

Kinship have been awarded funding from the Department for Education to deliver the first ever national training programme to support kinship carers in their caring role. We are at the start of that journey.

About the role:

Kinship are seeking to recruit experienced event co-ordinators with a whole range of skills and great energy to join our brand-new training team. They will be responsible for delivering this first ever programme of its type supporting kinship carers across England in their caring role. 

As a pivotal part of the team, you’ll be supporting delivery of high-quality in-person and online training events across England. You’ll be the first point of contact for the team and be experienced and responsive in dealing with enquiries. You’ll be used to working with suppliers and have proven experience of planning, co-ordinating and supporting the delivery of large events. You’ll bring significant working experience of using Microsoft tools, and other platforms and technology including Zoom. We are looking for Volunteer Coordinator to be responsible for overseeing our volunteer programme

Key duties will include;

Recruiting volunteers through a variety of job boards, community pages and platforms.

Arranging and carrying out interviews with potential volunteers to assess the value and contribution they could offer the charity.

Carrying out new volunteer inductions to ensure they are confident and competent to deliver their responsibilities as a UCARE volunteer.

Supporting the continued development of existing volunteers

Maintaining accurate volunteer records to monitor training, development and performance.

Working with UCARE colleagues to ensure we have an engaged pool of volunteers that meets the resource needs of the charity.

Coordinate awareness events such as stalls, talks and workshops to build awareness within the Oxfordshire community of the mission of the charity.

Work collaboratively with other service providers and charities to maximise the impact of the charity for its beneficiaries.

We recognise that talking about Cancer can be difficult. During our induction we will provide you with all the tools you need to be successful in your new role, this includes;

Full training and resources to communicate our message to others and volunteers.

Tools to deliver effective presentations

Training on Cancer awareness to ensure you can communicate this effectively, this could include;

o How people can reduce their risk of getting cancer

o Help people understand the importance of spotting cancer early

o Appreciate and address the fears and barriers faced by people when talking about cancer

o How to have effective, supportive conversations about cancer and health

o Understand the impact health inequalities can have on cancer outcomes

o Encourage people to take positive action for their health, and see their doctor with any concerns

o Understanding how to offer support, provide signposting and guidance when working within the community and alongside our volunteers.

About you

We are looking for a Volunteer Coordinator who is compassionate, friendly, sensitive and have a sensible approach, able to demonstrate responsibility, reliability and integrity.

Training Link is recruiting a new Green Learning Coordinator who will develop and run environmental workshops for local residents in Somers Town, Camden.

The purpose of the role is to design and deliver a new Green Learning programme for Training Link and to support residents in Somers Town in their journey to becoming cleaner and greener through community engagement, training and project delivery.

About Training Link

Training Link is a small charity with nearly 40 years’ experience of supporting people in Somers Town. We offer courses for adults to help people get a job or return to work, often after a long absence. Many of our learners are reluctant to go to a large adult education college where in practice they would receive little individual support in their learning; we offer a supportive, friendly learning environment where people feel comfortable and welcomed.  Current classes include ESOL, IT and Maths. We also provide one to one sessions for those needing support around literacy. 

Purpose of the role: 

• To design and deliver new Green Learning programme for Training Link.
• To develop and run high quality, engaging, fun and interactive community-based environmental awareness classes and activities tailored to adult learners, including learners speaking English as a second language.
• To support residents in Somers Town in their journey to becoming cleaner and greener through community engagement, training and project delivery.
• To help Training Link team to positively engage and communicate with local residents and community leaders/ groups on climate emergency and positive actions.
• To create a welcoming, inclusive and positive learning environment.
• To enable those learners who wish to study further to gain an accredited qualification in Environmental Awareness, including environmental awareness in the workplace.

Key Responsibilities: 

• To record and monitor learners’ attendance, progression and achievement.
• To contribute to the evaluation of teaching and learning to inform future planning, ensuring learner involvement in the process.
• To keep up to date with local and wider issues related to the Climate Emergency, from a lay person’s perspective.
• To liaise with the Director and participate in the appraisal process when required.
• To carry out duties with due regard to Training Link’s Equality and Diversity, Information, Governance, Data Protection, Safeguarding, and Health and Safety policies and procedures.
• To ensure that each learner provides personal information as required, and complete a learner agreement enrolment form and evaluation form at the end of the course. To keep a register for each session.
• To signpost learners to other courses, services and activities as appropriate
• To complete forms for the National Open College Network and any other external assessment body.

Essential Requirements for the Role

• Knowledge and Qualifications:
• Good understanding of the Climate Crisis and what can be done at a grass roots level to address it.
• An adult teaching or coaching qualification is desirable, or willingness to be working towards one.
• Ability to think creatively and use judgement, experience and initiative to solve problems
• An aptitude for collaboration and cross team working
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
• Ability to engage and communicate effectively with all sections of the community, in a variety of situations, including the confidence to present to different and represent Training Link at events
• An understanding of the importance of diversity and inclusion.
• A can-do attitude
• Ideally a good knowledge of the Somers Town area (not essential but desirable)

Experience

• Experience of teaching adults on a paid or voluntary basis.
• Experience of community engagement with proven positive results
• Experience of managing local community projects supporting vulnerable adults
• Experience of working or volunteering in Somers Town is desirable

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to plan interesting lessons and activities appropriate to adult learners from a variety of cultural and educational backgrounds.
• Ability to develop effective teaching materials of a high standard and appropriate to the needs of learners.
• Ability to evaluate and track learner progress and set individual learning goals.
• Ability to assess learner work for the National Open College Network for learners who want an accredited qualification.
• Ability to use ICT and E-learning in teaching and course planning.
• Ability to maximise retention and achievement of learners.
• Effective communication and inter-personal skills.
• Flexibility to deliver learning in community venues in Camden, including some work in the evenings and on Saturdays.

About the role: 

As a Sport Coordinator, you'll be responsible for planning and delivering varied activity sessions for both adults and young people across different services, both internally and externally. You will work closely with the Sport Manager to effectively coordinate support from freelancers and volunteers. Your role will extend to broadening the accessibility of sports and exercise within SHP's services and among its residents, for both adults and the young people we support. Additionally, you'll play a key part in growing the programmes reach, forging partnerships with similar organisations and charities, while also advocating for the significance of physical activity within the homeless community. 

The approach taken with clients will be psychologically informed, incorporating an understanding of Personality disorder, complex trauma and addiction. The outcomes for your role include developing positive and sustained relationships of trust with clients supporting them to engage in regular physical activity, and see an improvement in their overall health. 

About you:

• Demonstrable knowledge of fitness and sporting activities, application and implementation 
• Sports and coaching qualifications relevant tot he sector. 
• Demonstrable knowledge of motivating and supporting vulnerable adults and young people into sport and exercise. 
• Ability to develop and deliver structured group-based physical activity sessions with both adults and young people. 
• Ability to advocate for the importance of physical activity within our services.
