At Family Action we support people through change, challenge or crisis. It’s what we’ve done for over 150 years. We protect children, support young people and adults and offer direct, practical help to families and communities.
We see first-hand the power of family to shape lives, for better or worse, so we speak up for the importance of family in national and local policymaking, amplify family voices and represent the changing needs of families in the UK today.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Support Worker to join our friendly team and help support the continued work of our LifeSkills Plus team. You will provide intensive support to adults with complex needs who are further away from employment or training by using a strength-based approach, ensuring those accessing the programme receive appropriate practical and emotional support by visiting them at home or in the community.
The LifeSkills programme supports individuals and families to build their confidence, social networks, financial and employability skills. The LifeSkills Support Worker will work closely with the linked LifeSkills programme, entitled LifeSkills Open.
Family Action is an award-winning national charity working from the heart of local communities across England and Wales.

The Longford Trust supports young serving and former prisoners to go to university. We aim to level the playing field between our graduates and every other recent graduate in Britain so that all have an equal chance of landing fulfilling graduate employment as a first step on the career ladder. The cost and hard work of a degree is accepted by those we support in the hope that it will open up well-paid job opportunities that would not have been available had they not taken out the student loan to get a degree. This is taken for granted by students who haven’t been to prison. Why should those who have been working just as hard, if not harder, and taken on the same debts, not expect a similar chance?

About FareShare Midlands
FareShare Midlands rescues good-quality surplus food and gets it to people experiencing hardship through hundreds of community organisations across the region. Last year, we redistributed more than 5,000 tonnes of food – the equivalent of 11 million meals – reaching around 60,000 people every week.
But our impact goes beyond food. We strengthen communities, create opportunities through our SkillsShare employability programmes, and help protect our planet by reducing food waste. Over the next three years, we aim to double the food we rescue and extend our impact across the Midlands.
Good food can do extraordinary things.
