As our Interim HR Advisor, you will play a key role at BookTrust in taking forward our ambitions. With your experience and skills, you will be able support and develop the organisation as we continue to go through significant change to deliver our strategy.
You will have the experience and skills to ensure that our HR processes are managed to a high standard, and you can work with the organisation in delivering highly effective HR support. This will involve working with the HR Lead, our Team Leaders and Senior Managers from recruitment, onboarding, payroll. This includes the maintenance of the HR Information System, supporting core processes and the provision of frontline HR assistance to colleagues on HR issues, where appropriate.
You will also have experience and will be skilled in building strong internal relationships. You will be comfortable taking a deeply collaborative approach and be keen to work alongside expert colleagues in BookTrust to deliver our strategy.

About the role

You will be a trusted member of the People Operations Team, providing a responsive and proactive service. Overview of Role:
As Human Resources Advisor you will be joining a small, friendly and supportive HR team providing advice and support to managers and staff across the full range of employee life-cycle activities. This is a maternity cover post, so is offered on a fixed term contract for 12 months. What the job involves
We’re looking for a People Operations Advisor to join our People Team on a fixed term basis. This is a great opportunity to work with a wide range of colleagues across the Charity and get to see firsthand the work carried out, to create a world where no man dies from prostate cancer.
You’ll work with managers and Heads of departments to help successfully manage, develop and retain the best people to deliver our ambitious strategic objectives. You’ll provide operational HR advice and guidance, working collaboratively to support our colleagues and management teams through a range employee life cycle activities as well as employee relations cases such probation, absence, conduct, capability, performance including flexible working.
Working with the People Partner and Operations Manager, you’ll evaluate each situation that arises using a tiered approach to case management, escalating higher tiered or complex cases to them and/or the wider People Partner team.
As a People Operations Advisor your role will support embedding good people practices across all of our directorates. Proactively contributing to the development and delivery of our planned HR programmes, including the creating and improvement of policies, procedures and guidance to ensure alignment with employment legislation and our organisational culture, values and ways of working.
You’ll contribute to the inputting and accuracy of People Data into the HRIS system, preparing and collating HR metrics and trend information for the People Partners for business reporting.
What we want from you
We’re looking for a people focused, self-motivated, HR professional, who is experienced in building effective relationships with their team, managers, and employees; comfortable in providing guidance and support employee relations issues. You’ll be CIPD qualified (level 5 of studying towards this) or with experience working at this level. You’ll have strong people skills and integrity, be able to communicate well with others and quickly build credibility. You’ll have excellent attention to detail and experience of administering and maintaining accurate records and dealing with contracts and contract changes. You may be required to support in facilitating HR training sessions and workshops.
You’ll be able to demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, an in-depth knowledge of best practice and employment law alongside a good understanding of GDPR and how they relate to communicating, storing and processing employee data.

You will have direct line management responsibility for a HR Assistant and will support the HR Business Partner in identifying and delivering HR projects that add value to HR Operations processes and the stakeholders, improve the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our HR service, and help achieve the aims of our People Strategy. We are looking for an experienced HR professional with a robust background in employee relations and a strong understanding of HR compliance and employment legislation. You will be proactive in identifying and delivering solutions to ER challenges, driving service improvements across the organisation.
You will deliver an exceptional, responsive and professional HR advisory service to staff and managers, utilising credible expertise and knowledge to guide and partner with managers throughout the full employment relations cycle. You will also be an expert in ER, serving as a trusted point of contact for key stakeholders to provide and implement effective solutions and strategies for HR issues involving absence, probation, capability, conduct, performance and grievance meetings, seeking support from the HR Business Partner where necessary.

About the role
We’re looking for a Human Resources Advisor with strong experience in employee relations and policy development to join our People Team. In this role, you’ll work closely with the HR Business Partners and act as the escalation point from our People Operations Team, offering comprehensive, pragmatic people advisory services across the organisation. You’ll support colleagues and managers on a wide range of HR topics, including employee relations, recruitment, and policy improvement.
This is a key role that doesn’t involve direct management responsibilities, but you will play a pivotal part in coaching and advising managers and colleagues. We’re looking for someone with strong interpersonal skills, a proactive approach, and the ability to handle complex HR cases with confidence and professionalism.

What will I be doing?

This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior HR Admin transitioning to managing an HR standalone function. This is an interim full-time role based in Farringdon, with occasional travel to Bristol. You will have the opportunity to significantly contribute to the development of the HR function at Deighton Pierce Glynn (DPG). Requirements:
