Overall purpose

Reporting to the Director of People, the HR Manager will take responsibility for the operational delivery of Breaking Barriers’ key People and HR activities and initiatives. You will have a strong knowledge of all aspects HR and provide proactive, practical support on day-to-day operations as well as leading strategic HR projects. A keen understanding of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) in the workplace and employee wellbeing is an advantage.

This role is essential to ensure we continue to be an effective, inclusive and people-led organisation. Your role will be vital in making sure Breaking Barriers is and continues to be a great place to work for its staff.

You will deliver day to day HR support to team members and managers, work across the organisation to advise on HR policies and good practice, deliver recruitment processes, and deliver and track Learning & Development. You will support on wider strategic initiatives, working with the Director of People to embed new strategies and projects informed by employee feedback.

About You

You will have demonstrable experience across the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, employee relations, learning and development, and diversity, equity and inclusion. You will have a strong working knowledge of employment law and HR best practices, alongside the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. You will have exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, strong IT and HRIS experience, and a proactive, problem-solving approach with excellent attention to detail. You will be well-organised, resilient, and confident working with stakeholders at all levels. You’ll be responsible for managing, developing and implementing a leading online presence for Southern Hospice Group with exceptional website experiences through secure, accessible and brand aligned websites and donation platforms. These will empower audiences and drive increased support for the charity.

Part of the role involves building strong internal relationships with colleagues in the team, as well as various key stakeholders across the organisation to ensure website content is optimised, up to date and aligned with the charity’s communications strategy, digital strategy and business plan. You will also work with external suppliers including website development agencies and platform developers.

As well as managing the websites, you will play a key role in developing and implementing a data driven, audience focused content strategy to enhance the online visibility of the hospice websites. You will manage the project to implement a new website for the organisation within the first few months in the role.

You’ll be able to demonstrate proven experience in website management, ideally at a non-profit, the ability to interpret and monitor data to deliver reports and a keen eye for design with experience in developing content and graphics for web. You’ll also need to be an excellent copywriter and proofreader.

Essential criteria

• Proven experience in website management, ideally in a non-profit environment.
• Editorial experience: adept in writing copy for web, adapting copy to suit the audience and tone required.
• Experience of WordPress, Shopify or other ecommerce platforms desirable.
• Experience of interpreting and monitoring Google Analytics and producing reports.
• Experience of delivering creative, user-led, and accessible web experiences for marketing and fundraising campaigns, in a busy environment.
• Skilled in developing graphics for web – Illustrator/Photoshop/InDesign/Canva.
• Knowledge and experience of implementing best practice, SEO, accessibility, and mobile optimisation.
• Ideally, demonstrable working knowledge of A/B testing methodology.
• Excellent digital project management skills: delivers projects to brief, on time and to budget. Prioritise projects and tasks appropriately.
• Proven ability to think strategically and translate concepts into effective action plans.
• Knowledge of web regulations/standards and their application in a charity context.

Job Summary

The Advocacy and Campaigns Manager will play a crucial role in shaping and delivering Put Children First, the advocacy and campaigning initiative of Alder Hey Children’s Charity. The post holder will be responsible for influencing decision-makers, engaging stakeholders, and leading impactful campaigns to ensure children’s health and wellbeing are prioritised in public policy.  

This role requires a strategic thinker with strong public affairs expertise, policy understanding, and excellent communication skills. The campaign is child led and will involve working with children to raise their voice. The post holder will also work with politicians, policymakers, clinicians and internal stakeholders, partner organisations, and the public to advocate for change, ensuring that Alder Hey Children’s Charity is a leading voice in children’s health policy and advocacy. This role is one of the first with a charity aligned to an NHS Trust and will appeal to someone with a strong desire to pioneer advocacy and campaigning in a unique setting. 
 

Main Duties/Tasks 

Advocacy & Campaigning Strategy  

• Work with the Head of Marketing & Communications to develop and deliver a proactive and inclusive advocacy and campaigning strategy to drive meaningful policy change that benefits children’s health. 

• Identify and respond to policy developments, advising on how Alder Hey Children’s Charity can influence key decision-makers and stakeholders. 

• Lead campaign planning and execution, ensuring activities engage supporters, stakeholders, and policymakers effectively. 

• Develop and manage partnerships with other charities, organisations, and networks to amplify the impact of the charity’s advocacy work. 

• Work with external agencies where necessary to develop and deliver plans, being the key point of contact.

Public Affairs & Stakeholder Engagement  

• Build strong relationships with MPs, government departments, local authorities, and policymakers at national and regional levels. 

• Represent Alder Hey Children’s Charity and Put Children First in parliamentary briefings, policy roundtables, and stakeholder meetings. 

• Monitor political and policy developments relevant to children's health, providing insightful briefings and recommendations to senior leadership. 

• Support senior leaders and Trustees in their engagement with political and policy stakeholders, ensuring they are well-briefed and strategically positioned. 

• Engage with children and families to ensure their voices are central to the advocacy work, developing plans to engage under represented communities.

Policy Development & Thought Leadership 

• Translate complex policy issues into clear, compelling narratives that drive awareness and action. 

• Work with colleagues to develop policy briefings, reports, and consultation responses, ensuring Alder Hey Children’s Charity is a credible and informed voice in the sector. 

• Work with the Head of Marketing & Communications to position the charity as a thought leader on children’s health policy, ensuring its voice is heard in key debates and discussions. 

• Identify opportunities to influence policy discussions through submissions, evidence-gathering, and research collaborations. 

Media & Communications 

• Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team to develop compelling messaging that supports advocacy goals. 

• Work with the charity’s Communications Advisory agency to secure media coverage on key issues, providing expert commentary and ensuring children’s health remains a priority in public debate. 

• Develop engaging and inclusive content for Put Children First, including press releases, blogs, social media, film and supporter communications. 

• Work with campaigners and families to amplify lived experiences in advocacy efforts, ensuring their voices are central to campaigns. 

Internal Collaboration & Leadership 

• Work closely with the fundraising teams, grants team, marketing and communications and the Trust’s Communications team to ensure advocacy work aligns with broader charity and Trust objectives. 

• Provide advice and guidance to colleagues on policy and public affairs matters, in consultation with the Head of Marketing and Communications where required. 

• Support the development of staff and volunteers as advocates for the charity’s policy positions. 

• Ensure all campaign activities align with Alder Hey Children’s Charity’s values and meet ethical and legal standards.

Summary of the position

Epic is looking for a Development Manager to support the activities of the UK Development Team to help us ‘make giving the norm’.

The Development Manager will work with the UK Director in our small team in the UK, as well as working closely with colleagues in Paris and Brussels. 

This position offers candidates the opportunity to develop their skills across a range of fundraising disciplines including corporate fundraising, major donor engagement, events, and philanthropy. 

This position will work with a deeply engaged team in an international environment. Given the versatile nature of the responsibilities and the small team size, candidates will need to show demonstrable flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to take ownership and work independently.

Key Responsibilities :

With support from the UK Director, the Development Manager will work collaboratively with the Director and wider UK team and Development colleagues in Paris and Brussels to execute the fundraising strategy in the UK. The Development Manager is a key role in a small team, and will contribute new ideas, networks and results to help us meet our income targets and therefore create more positive impact for children and young people globally. More specifically, the key responsibilities of this role are outlined below.

1. Business Development (65%)

• Lead prospect research and outreach efforts to expand Epic’s prospect donor pool in the UK: monitor the fundraising ecosystem, conduct in-depth prospect research and engage in proactive outreach campaigns through LinkedIn, emailing, digital networking and in-person events. This will include attending early morning and evening events as required.
• Set conversion objectives and support conversion from leads to donations
• Identify and secure lead opportunities within networks and events
• Pitch Epic and its various Giving Solutions to potential donors, and build tailored proposals when needed
• Maintain high discipline and consistency in follow-up with leads and donors: use Epic’s CRM to build a consistent pipeline of prospects, as well as maintaining the database with accurate and up to date donor information
• Evaluate and monitor the return on investment (ROI) of events and fundraising campaigns
• Prepare compelling fundraising communications, materials and presentations for donor meetings and events

2. Nurturing & engaging the UK Community (20%)

• Contribute to Epic’s engagement strategy for current donors to ensure an 80% renewal rate
• Maintain regular touchpoints with a subgroup of donors through activities such as sharing monitoring reports, organising project visits and volunteering opportunities in the UK, and scheduling regular calls and face to face meetings. 
• Act as the main point of contact for a subset of donors and answer their enquiries in a timely manner
• Craft and manage engagement opportunities such as UK events and webinars, including drinks, talks, breakfast events, and provide support to the organisation for the annual gala nights. Support will be provided for certain events by our in-house dedicated Events team.

3. Fundraising-related administration (15%)

• Manage donor-related administrative tasks, such as regular use of Epic’s CRM (Salesforce), donation forms, meeting preparation, minutes (where applicable), and 
• Process all donations, using Salesforce and related donation platforms, in a timely manner each month
• Liaise with international fund vehicles, such as Myriad USA, to ensure all international donation commitments are fulfilled. 

Position Requirements :

• Candidate must have the right to work in the United Kingdom
• Excellent level of English (both spoken and written) required
• Proficiency in French (written and spoken) highly desirable 
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a sales, fundraising or business development role, with demonstrable experience of securing 5- and 6-figure gifts
• Experience within the charity sector is desirable but not required
• Experience using software packages such as Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Canva and other applications
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to attend external events (including evening events) and comfortable networking with a variety of people across different communities
• Experience with a CRM is required and preferably some experience of using Salesforce 
• Strong self-discipline and project management skills
• Excellent organisational skills and a strong eye for detail

The Epic UK team is a small but dedicated team. The role requires flexibility and a start-up attitude. This is a full time, permanent position, based in the London office with the opportunity for two remote working days each week. This role reports to the UK Director and will involve closely working with Epic’s global development team, as well as with the Engagement, Programs, Marketing and Communications, and Operations teams.

My Life Films is an award-winning charity that uses film and TV to enrich and support the lives of people living with dementia and their carers. My Life TV is our specialist on-demand streaming service, specifically designed to meet the cognitive needs of people living with dementia, for use within care settings and at home.

My Life Films is seeking a Finance Manager to ensure the organisation is compliant with all statutory and regulatory requirements with regards to the main charity and its subsidiary. The post-holder is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective management of the organisation’s finances, including accurate reporting and maintenance and development of financial systems and processes that are fit for purpose.

You will have plenty of autonomy to manage your workload and diary, and to succeed in this role you will need to be a self-starter with plenty of enthusiasm and drive. You will be part of a small, dynamic team, who work very collaboratively and supportively.

Key Responsibilities – include but not limited to
 • Ensure that appropriate financial policies and procedures are in place to deliver effective financial management to guide the organisation’s financial decision making
• Complete and submit information to Companies House and the Charity Commission as required by statutory regulations and requirements
• Maintain appropriate accounting systems, control and records, ensuring compliance with statutory and related accounting and tax regulations and requirements
• Process monthly payroll and pensions and oversee VAT and corporation tax returns by external accountants
• Maintain records to meet legal and financial requirements and sufficient to measure, monitor and evaluate financial plans in relation to both inputs and outputs of the organisation’s operations
• Provide a bookkeeping service and regular information for use by Trustees, Directors and Senior Management in planning and controlling the work of My Life Films and its subsidiary, including producing quarterly management accounts
• Manage the organisation’s relationship with bankers, external accountants, and investment and other financial advisors effectively
• Manage the relationship with the insurers, ensuring that the company has the appropriate insurance policies in place
• Oversee the statutory annual financial statements and reports prepared by external accountants, complete annual reporting on a timely basis and manage the annual independent examination and audit process
• Ensure the security and confidential storage of all financial and legal documents
• Attend and contribute to internal meetings, training sessions, external events and Board Meetings as required

We are working in partnership with Emmaus Village Carlton (EVC), a flagship Emmaus community, who give hope and a sense of belonging to those who have experienced homelessness or social exclusion by creating a safe and supported community and opportunities to develop. They are a respected local charity and social enterprise with a unique self-funded model, and capacity for up to 42 Companions to live and work on site, who are supported by the staff team and volunteers.

They are now seeking a new Finance Manager, who will be a pro-active member of the Leadership Team, reporting directly to the CEO. The Finance Manager will need to have a combination of strategic, practical and commercial skills in order to provide effective financial leadership and performance management to support business potential and the delivery of financial targets. Being a hands-on member of the Leadership Team who is a visible and known by EVC’s Companions, staff, volunteers and Trustees will be essential.

With a sharp rise in homelessness being seen across the country and the cost-of- living crisis heavily impacting local communities, this is a hugely exciting time to join a dynamic organisation with a strong purpose and unique approach to supporting people experiencing homelessness.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the following:

• Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA) or part qualified with significant relevant experience, including a minimum of three years’ experience in financial reporting, financial planning, strategic planning and budgeting.
• Minimum two years’ experience in a management or leadership role.
• Understanding of commercial business principles and practices.

The Role

The Community Centre Manager will play a key role in the leadership and smooth running of The Edward Woods centre, managing change, growth and performance as agreed with the CEO. Working closely with the UPG Management team, employees, partners, contractors, volunteers and other local organisations, the Manager will work to ensure the

Community Centre is a vibrant, well-managed facility that operates within a sustainable framework for the benefit of residents and organisations. They will also promote the profile, role and impact of the Centre.

Duties and Responsibilities

Management of the Community Centre

• Manage the operations of the Community Centre, its staff and the development and delivery of activities and facilities in line with the business and strategic plan.

• Ensure compliance with employment law and that we follow good practice regarding HR.

• Contribute to the planning, development, implementation and delivery of the business and strategic plan and present regular progress updates to the UPG Management team.

• Oversee the maintenance of the building - including building maintenance and improvement

programmes.

• Manage and monitor all aspects of risk assessments, health and safety and security as required by regulation or good practice including, in conjunction, the review and updating of

policies and procedures.

Management of staff and Volunteers

• Create a positive working environment in which equality and diversity are well managed, dignity at work is upheld and staff and volunteers can achieve their best.

• Ensure effective management of HR including recruitment, supervision and development of

employees, contractors, and volunteers, including carrying out DBS checks as

necessary.

• Oversee the Community Centre’s complaints procedure, and the proper handling, investigation and resolution of any complaints against the Centre, its staff and volunteers.

Working with Others

• Continue developing and maintaining relationships with various local partners to ensure activities at the Community Centre fit with others provided in the area.

• Positively represent the Centre and the community at partner and other meetings/events to raise the profile of the Community Centre and to ensure the views and needs of the community are prioritised and included.

• Prepare reports for funders, PRM and annual general meetings.

PR/Marketing and Fundraising

• Oversee the development and implementation of an income generation & marketing strategy.

• Develop strategies to promote the use and profile of the Community Centre, maximising use of social media, publicity opportunities and liaison with the local media.

Financial management

• Liaise with the CEO and Finance officer in setting and managing budgets and maintain an overview of the financial position of the Community Centre.

• Code invoices to ensure that income and expenditure is allocated to correct projects.

• Ensure best practice in all financial matters.

Project Management

• Support and oversee the continued delivery of high-quality services and activities.

• Devise and implement robust impact monitoring and evaluation strategies for all projects.

• Ensure all projects are correctly risk assessed and supported.

Edward Woods Community Centre has a small team of employees, tenants, volunteers and a

wide range of activities. it is expected that the post holder will be flexible in assisting in areas of work which go beyond their main duties. In particular, the holder of this post will be expected to assist with covering frontline reception and administrative duties and attendance at and/or supervision of events outside of normal working hours.

The Programme Manager at Western Forest will oversee the delivery of multiple projects within the woodland creation and restoration programme, working closely with Project Managers/leads and the Woodland and Nature Recovery Manager. This role will ensure that all programmes are delivered on time, within scope, and in alignment with the funding requirements and objectives. The Programme Manager will be responsible for monitoring progress, managing reporting to key stakeholders such as Defra and National Forest Company (NFC), and ensuring the quality of the projects. Additionally, the role will involve overseeing GIS/data management, coordinating the efforts of multidisciplinary teams, and serving as the primary contact for Defra and other funding bodies.

This is a varied role, ideal for someone who enjoys working across lots of projects at the same time. Your main focus will be managing our staff training programme, supporting with the recruitment and onboarding of new staff and overseeing our office functions. You'll also look after some of our financial admin as well as providing some executive support for our Board of Trustees. We're a small team of 30 staff and the role is a hybrid, designed to support all aspects of the central functions of the Charity.

Your HR responsibilities (around 3 days a week), will be to:

• maintain accurate HR records for all staff
• manage and administer our HR platform, Employment Hero
• co-ordinate our annual training schedule, manage the training budget and oversee our external trainers
• lead on the recruitment and onboarding of new staff
• oversee our DBS Records
• develop and oversee staff inductions
• manage the timesheets and payroll for Ignition Brewery, the Charity’s trading subsidiary
• lead the organisation in becoming a Disability Confident employer
• contribute to the development of the our HR policies and procedures

Your admin responsibilities (around 2 days a week), will be to:

• act as the office manager, ensuring that staff offices are maintained in a neat and tidy fashion
• act as Secretary for the Board of Trustees and Risk & Finance sub-committee, organising meetings and taking minutes
• manage service users' personal account records
• send out monthly statements to parent-carers and follow up on overdue accounts
• support the CEO and Finance Manager with the development and roll-out of new digital platforms as the service grows
• organise staff events such as annual training days, Christmas parties, etc…
• monitor stock levels and order supplies
• manage petty cash
• maintain our public noticeboards
• answer telephone and email enquiries

You'll also support our service delivery team at major events (e.g. annual show, sports day, etc…) and establish and maintain excellent working relationships with parent-carers, external agencies, funders, local authorities and other external stakeholders.

What we need from you (the essentials):

• a minimum of one years’ experience working in a fast-paced administrative environment
• excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• good written skills, with an ability to produce reports and other relevant documentation using Microsoft Office and CRM systems
• strong organisational skills with an ability to plan ahead and work across different areas of the charity simultaneously
• an ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality
• meticulous attention to detail with an ability to perform tasks accurately and efficiently
• a flexible and ‘hands-on’ approach to your working practice, with a ‘can-do’ attitude
• a willingness to learn and an openness to feedback in order to improve your work
