Administrative Volunteer
You will be an invaluable part of the team supporting the administrative function for our frontline services at the Shelter Lancashire Hub. This volunteer role is about utilising and developing your administrative and organisation skills to support the day-to-day operations of our housing, benefit and debt service in the hub and in our community settings. You will gain experience of volunteering within a recognised national housing charity, while supporting your local community. There is also the opportunity to engage and support in our local and national campaigning activities.
Suggested Involvement: minimum of 4 hours per week (can be more & can be flexible around your commitments
Location: Shelter Lancashire Hub based at Blackburn Central Library. Volunteering activity could be in the Hub or in our community settings.

Position Overview:
The Spiritual Arts Foundation is seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable Charity Administrator / Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of charity law and regulations in the UK, along with extensive practical experience in setting up charities, Community Interest Companies (CICs), and Companies Limited by Guarantee (CLGs). In addition to possessing exceptional organizational and project management skills, the candidate should also have a genuine interest in spiritual subjects and a passion for making a difference in the world.
Responsibilities:
You will be required to:
- Provide expert guidance and support in the setup and registration of charities, CICs, and CLGs, ensuring compliance with relevant UK legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Consult with our legal team on the preparation of legal documentation, including governing documents, constitutions, and articles of association.
- Assist in the establishment of appropriate governance structures, and work with our HR team regarding the recruitment and training of trustees and board members.
- Assist our management and accounting teams to choose optimal bank accounts and obtain the necessary financial services for new charitable entities.
- Consult with our fundraising team to help implement our strategies for fundraising, donor engagement, and income generation.
- Offer strategic advice on staffing requirements, recruitment processes, and employment contracts.
- Help us to identify potential risks and opportunities associated with charity setup and operation.
- Keep abreast of changes in charity law, regulations, and best practices, and ensure that organizational policies and procedures remain up to date.
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams, external stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to achieve organizational objectives.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven experience in setting up charities, CICs, or CLGs in the UK, including a comprehensive understanding of the legal and regulatory framework.
- Knowledge of charity law, tax regulations, governance principles, and financial management practices.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.

About our Outreach and Communications Assistant role We are looking for a committed Outreach and Communications Assistant Volunteer to join our Education, Training and Employment (ETE) area at IRMO. You will work closely with the ETE Programme Manager in a variety of outreach and communications activities, including the publicity and promotion of all ETE services and activities with external organisations and agencies and potential service users.

Service: Perinatal Support for Partners Service
This is a service that offers fathers and non-birthing parents, who’s partner is being supported by the West London perinatal mental health service, an evidence-based 1:1 assessment to support their mental health and wellbeing. The service signpost partners to relevant services (including a PSFP peer support group).
Role Description:
To support our PSFP Service with a variety of tasks such as conducting a 1:1 assessment, (which includes onboarding to the service), co-facilitating monthly peer support groups, signposting and helping partners to access other organisations, taking care of our inbox emails and other administrative duties.

The type of person we are looking for is:
We welcome applications from those completing studies in Psychology, Counselling/Psychotherapy, or any Allied Health Profession with a focus on supporting those with mental health needs. However, your attitude, motivation, and commitment are just as important as your training/qualifications, or any previous experience. We will review all applications individually and assess them on their unique merits, so do not be discouraged from applying if you do not meet all the criteria listed below. We encourage applications from those with lived experience of mental health problems, as well as those from Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities.
Essential:
- An interest in supporting those with mental health needs to access PSFP
- An appreciation of the complex factors that can precipitate, maintain, and exacerbate mental health problems
- Good oral and written communication skills (including listening skills); the ability to communicate in a patient, considered, and empathetic manner
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to follow administrative procedures
- A team player who is willing to chip in and work reflexively, responding to the challenges that arise from working in a dynamic environment
- IT skills – able to update spreadsheets, use web-based applications, video-conferencing software, and Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable:
- Customer Service experience, including with friends and family
- Experience of supporting people with mental health needs, in a voluntary, paid, or personal capacity, (i.e., friends and family)
- Previous involvement with local community groups/networks
- Awareness of the cultural barriers that may exist to seeking mental health support
Time commitment and expenses:
- 6 hours per week, during our core hours of 10am - 4pm.

- We will provide volunteers with an induction, training, and ongoing mentoring to support them in the role

About the Role
The Bridge Project is a well-established Bradford based charity with over 35 years’ experience delivering services and projects addressing a range of issues such as substance misuse, risk taking behaviours, relationships, housing, physical/mental health, and employment. We work with individuals, families, partners, and communities to improve people’s lives in a sustainable way, empowering people experiencing multiple barriers to achieve positive change.

Our portfolio of services and projects are constantly evolving in response to the changing needs of our service users and our local communities. Our Trustees play a pivotal role in governing the Bridge Project. These are a mixture of in-person meetings in Bradford and zoom meetings. Meetings are currently held in the evening. Trustees are also encouraged to visit our premises to meet with the staff team and meet the people we support.
