We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate conservation professional to join the Trust and play a key role in the care and conservation of our outstanding churches, a fascinating and unique collection of highly listed historic buildings.

Overall job purpose

As a Conservation Projects Manager and a key member of the national Conservation team, you will work with experienced consultants and skilled craftspeople, with national and regional colleagues, volunteers, local partners and stakeholders to develop and manage a range of holistic, conservation and new use projects, from inception to completion, and providing professional advice and support to community led projects.  You will lead on capital, conservation and maintenance programmes in East Anglia and beyond as required.

You will have expertise and specialist knowledge in the field of historic building repair and conservation, and a proven track record of project management (client side) in the heritage sector. You might be a Building Surveyor, a Conservation Architect, an Estate Manager, or a Project Manager, in this continually varied and unique role you will be working on some of the most significant historic buildings in the country. As you’ll be working on projects across a large geographical area, it is essential you have a full driving licence.

About the role:

The Role 

This is an exciting opportunity to undertake one of the most crucial roles within the organisation. The Skill Mill Supervisor supports disadvantaged young people 16+ within the Justice System into work:

About the role

The Rostering & Workforce Optimisation Manager role at Affinity Trust is a high-impact role with a clear purpose: to improve rostering quality, strengthen cover planning and reduce avoidable agency use.

You’ll work with Support Managers, Operations Managers and senior leaders to spot where things are not working as well as they should, understand why, and put practical improvement plans in place. That might mean identifying patterns in sickness and annual leave cover, highlighting gaps between commissioned and rostered hours, improving the way rosters are reviewed, or helping managers use the rostering system more consistently and meaningfully.

You’ll set clear minimum rostering standards, lead a regular governance and review rhythm for priority locations, and create repeatable insight packs that help operational leaders make better decisions. You’ll also act as the business owner for our rostering system, SONA, helping to shape priorities, improve reporting and support meaningful use across the organisation.

Success in this role means priority locations are meeting minimum rostering standards, managers are planning cover more effectively, last-minute changes and preventable gaps are reducing, and agency reliance is falling for the right reasons.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who is analytical, practical and confident working with people at different levels of the organisation.

You will ideally bring:

• Experience of improving rostering, workforce deployment or operational performance in a multi-site environment
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to turn data into practical action
• Confidence using systems, spreadsheets and management information

Primary location of role

The Role

Having launched our Youth Adventure Programmes in Somerset in 2024, we are now looking for somebody who wants to take the next step in their fundraising career to build on the foundations of the last two years and significantly increase our presence in the county. 

As our Regional Corporate Fundraiser,  you'll be the driving force behind our local business partnerships, working with both large companies operating in the region and smaller local businesses looking to support their communities. 

Your role will encompass:

• Relationship building: Identifying and securing new corporate partnerships while providing high-quality stewardship to our existing Somerset-based supporters.

• Community Engagement: Championing our work in Somerset by giving engaging talks to community groups and networking with local businesses.

• Event delivery: Playing a key role in delivering local fundraising challenge events, the bi-annual Somerset Adventure Dinner and developing new opportunities to unite the Somerset business community behind our mission.

You'll work closely with the Corporate Partnership Manager and the Director of Fundraising and Communications to ensure each proposal is bespoke and every corporate partner understands the impact of their support on local young people.  You must live in Somerset, have a good local awareness and be willing to travel around the county and beyond to nurture long-lasting, strategic relationships.

About You

We are looking for a people-person, who is self-motivated and highly organised. You are as comfortable in the board room engaging business leaders as  you are standing on a mountain side in your waterproofs! You will be:

• Experienced: A proven track record in building successful corporate partnerships and achieving income targets;

• A relationship fundraiser: building long-lasting meaningful relationships should be at the heart of every single corporate partnership;

• An inspiring communicator:  You will be telling our story in a variety of different ways to inspire support and grow our networks;

• Self-motivated:  You are comfortable working from home but eager to be ‘out and about’ in the business community;

• Pro-active and creative: No corporate partnership is the same, so you will be proactive in understanding a corporate partner’s motivation and coming up with creative ideas to build successful relationships;

• Local: You must live in or near Somerset to maximise local networking opportunities, attend regular in-person meetings and events  and confidently talk about local issues facing both businesses and the young people we support through our programmes;

• Outdoorsy: A genuine love for the outdoors, comfortable in wellies and waterproofs with an understanding of 'the power of the outdoors'.

The Charity

At the Youth Adventure Trust, we use outdoor adventure to empower vulnerable young people from Swindon, Wiltshire and Somerset to fulfil their potential and lead positive lives in the future. We work with them to build resilience, develop confidence and learn skills that will last a lifetime, helping them to face the challenges in their lives. Dedicated support, guidance and mentoring from our staff and volunteers ensures young people receive the maximum benefit from our long-term intervention. Our aim is to make a lasting improvement to the lives of vulnerable young people. All our services are provided completely free of charge to the young people who are nominated by schools and other youth organisations to take part.

We’re proud to offer our programmes completely free of charge to participants which means the fundraising team is crucial. With ambitious plans to help more young people from Somerset over the coming years, our Regional Corporate Fundraiser role is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference for local young people.  Whilst you will have the flexibility of a 21-hours-per-week role, this could increase as more corporate partnerships are secured. You’ll be part of a small fundraising team with a big heart, with plenty of opportunities to visit our programmes and see the tangible impact of your work.

We are seeking a Volunteer Support & Systems Manager to lead the development and maintenance of automated workflows used within the Volunteer Support Team.

The role is responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the Volunteer Support function including overseeing the day-to-day administration of key volunteer processes. The postholder will also line manage the Volunteer Support Officers who act as the first point of contact to volunteers in assisting with these processes and wider administration.

About the role

The purpose of the Volunteer Support & Systems Manager is to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the Volunteer Support function by ensuring that automated workflows are well maintained and continuously improved. This includes the onboarding process for new volunteers, management of mandatory training requirements of existing volunteers and volunteer record management through processing promotions transfers and leavers. The role also provides effective line management to a team of Volunteer Support Officers, supporting them to deliver a high quality of administrative support to volunteers to assist them with these processes.

Responsibilities

• To oversee the efficient operation, maintenance and continuous improvement of all Volunteer Support automated workflows
• To develop clear and effective guidance, to help volunteers access and use the various Volunteer Support digital systems
• To line manage and support the Volunteer Support Team based at the MSSC Support Centre, empowering the team to deliver effective and consistent support to volunteers
• To functionally manage and support the Area Volunteer Support Team based across the 6 Area Offices, empowering them to deliver effective and consistent support to volunteers
• To manage the “Safer Recruitment” and adverse disclosure process for volunteers, in line with MSSC policy, ensuring that criminal records checks are dealt with in a timely and appropriate manner
• To work with the Head of Volunteering to review MSSC volunteering policies, monitoring their appropriateness and effectiveness, making recommendations for changes as necessary
• To support the Head of Volunteering with the successful implementation of MSSC’s volunteer strategy and other national tasks
• To work with Volunteer Support Officers to develop systems and processes for managing the Volunteer Support workload and monitoring delivery standards
• To work closely with other stakeholders, maintaining excellent working relationships across departments to ensure consistency and best practice for our volunteers.

Requirements

• Experience of leading the development and maintenance of digital volunteer management/ communication systems
• Experience of creating and maintaining complex automated workflows
• Experience of overseeing the administrative functions of a CRM system
• Experience of implementing, managing reviewing and refining administrative processes
• Experience of delivering a first-class service to clients or customers
• Experience developing processes which are targeted at both internal and external audiences
• Experience of managing or supervising a large team
• Experience of leading projects manging change with various stakeholders

Desirable

• Experience of managing or supervising a team based remotely
• Experience of using Microsoft Forms and Power Automate or similar systems
• Experience of managing an onboarding process, ideally of volunteers, with the understanding of the importance of safer recruitment
• A strong understanding of the voluntary and community sector, ideally within the youth sector
• Experience of working with volunteers and the knowledge of how to ensure they are supported
• Experience of empowering a team to deliver a first-class customer service
• Experience in managing challenging emails, calls and situations with volunteers professionally, using sound judgement and clear communication

Sounds great, what will I be doing?

The main purpose of the role is to prepare individuals to move on to independent living in the community. Service users may step down from the intensive support service to high, medium or lower needs before moving into the community.

From the outset of an individual's tenancy the focus of the support is on preparing them for their journey of recovery and independence over an agreed period. Our support service is provided 24 hours a day 365 days per year with tailored flexible support delivered in accordance with need. ​

What do I need to bring with me?

You'll need to be able to demonstrate the core skills this role requires as well as match our values and mission. You don't have to tick all the boxes right away; the important thing is that you're willing to learn. We also value lived experience of the areas we support, so if you feel comfortable, please do mention this on your application.

You will bring demonstrable experience of working with individuals who have mental health and/or dual diagnosis needs, alongside a strong understanding of recovery principles and a range of recovery approaches. You will be confident working both independently and as part of a team, including supporting the induction of peer staff and volunteers, and collaborating effectively with statutory services such as the NHS. You will have sound knowledge of mental health legislation, including CPA processes, and be skilled in crisis management, communication, and providing dignified, person-centred support. A good awareness of health and safety and safeguarding is essential, as is the ability to work flexibly across early and late shifts, weekends, and bank holidays to meet 24-hour service needs. You will also bring strong IT, literacy, and numeracy skills, with the ability to produce clear written correspondence and maintain accurate records.
