About the job

The successful candidate will be expected to work with, and coordinate a network of, a wide range of training providers and employers across the creative sector, including but not limited to film, music, literature, theatre, performance, gaming, fashion, arts & crafts. In addition, the successful candidate will be committed to identifying, and subsequently supporting and guiding individuals towards the opportunities and employment available within this network. The role will require analytical and problem-solving skills and a strong degree of flexibility – the successful candidate will work with their project team and external partners to develop a programme of activity that will identify and directly address gaps in creative provision, which is as yet, undetermined.

The role will be offered on a full-time basis mainly working within the Rinova office and across the Southwark borough, with the opportunity to work remotely on occasions.

Purpose of the role

The purpose of this role is to support our Head of Finance and Operations with our HR, operations and admin functions including managing systems to efficiently run the business and achieve strategic objectives agreed by Black Thrive Board of Directors. This includes being the first point of contact for HR and office queries, leading the recruitment process, managing onboarding and offboarding, preparing employment contracts (Full-time and/or part-time, zero hours and/or fixed terms contracts), supporting the Finance Officer with payroll, checking and following right-to-work in the UK, administrating DBS checks and creating new company policies together with management. The ideal candidate will be a sound HR generalist who has a good understanding of UK employment laws, organisational governance and  is comfortable working independently, have refined problem-solving skills, and thrive in a rapidly evolving environment.

Duties and responsibilities

1. The HR Manager assumes the primary responsibility for ensuring the organisations employment policies are fit for purpose and in line with any changes in employment legislation and for communicating the changes to the Directors and SLT where required.

2. Support the Head of Finance & Operations to manage HR and admin functions, including working with managers to prepare job descriptions, employment contracts, onboarding and offboarding.

3. Lead the recruitment process for new staff to source appropriate candidates for the organisation. This includes job advertising, shortlisting, interviewing, pre-employment checks and other pre-employment activities that are necessary.

4. Ensure the renewal of DBS checks for all staff is carried out on a periodic basis.

5. Process new joiners and leavers on the HR platforms and liaising with IT Support to ensure staff are set up or removed as needed.

6. Plan and coordinate induction for new employees.

7. Manage the employee performance reviews, and performance improvement plans in line with the organisations policies and any legislative requirements.

8. Work with the Head of Finance and Operations to implement and review the organisations reward principles and salary benchmarking exercise.

9. Support the Head of Finance and Operations to embed Black Thrive’s mission and values across the organisation, leading and driving the required culture change.

10. Review the existing policies and update or create new HR related policies in line with the current employment laws or governance requirements.

11. Develop, implement and review the employee development and training plan / strategy with the Head of Finance and Operations.

Qualifications and Experience

Equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in HR, business administration or related field.

Main Purpose Of Job:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team in a dual-role capacity, supporting two vital services run in partnership with Homeless Oxfordshire and Connection Support. The role covers both our Step Down provision—designed for individuals discharged from hospital under the Discharge to Assess model—and our service at Mawle Court, which provides temporary accommodation and support for people with complex needs, including those preparing for more independent living or in need of emergency provision. The Supporter Partnerships Officer (SPO) plays a vital role in delivering an exceptional experience for new and existing supporters of London City Mission.

Purpose of the job:

As a key member of the Fundraising team, you will be the first point of contact for individuals and organisations who give to the charity; handling enquiries, processing donations given over the telephone, updating supporter records, nurturing long-term relationships and providing insight to other members of the fundraising team.

Supporter care and engagement

• To work with the Community Organiser role and the Collective Members to develop a varied and thriving programme of recovery enhancing activities within the Collective building.
• To line manage the Collective Community Organiser and work closely with the Lead Evaluator as required.

Essential

• Experience of leading a service/project
• Experience of embedding Co-production principles and practices within a community setting
• Experience of partnership building/working with a range of external organisations
• Experience of working with people accessing community services in their personal development/ recovery journeys
• Experience of facilitating forums/user groups/ steering groups
• Experience of supporting staff and volunteers in the workplace
• Experience of working with people from a range of social, cultural and ethnic backgrounds 
• Experience of planning and delivering activity programmes within a community setting
• Good knowledge of substance misuse and the issues affecting those with addiction.
• Good understanding of co-production principles and what these look like in action 
• Good understanding of self-help/mutual aid and its benefits
• Understanding of local employment pathways and support providers
• Understanding of local community assets and support providers 
• Full driving licence and use of a vehicle

Desirable

• Experience of delivering groups/learning both in person and online
• Experience of delivering brief interventions 
• Knowledge of community fundraising
• Experience of working with people trying to access recovery from substance dependence
• Knowledge of recovery and associated support services in Nottinghamshire
• Lived experience of recovery from addictions
