About the role

This role is an opportunity to support and shape a major programme of research on how to deliver more innovative health care for patients and the public. You will work alongside our subject matter experts to provide effective project support and organisation for this research.

We are looking for a project officer to provide the day to day business and project support to work across a range of projects but including an exciting new multi-year partnership exploring how innovation can be harnessed to support the health and care system towards delivering care closer to where people live.

You will act as the main point of contact for project participants and research contacts, organise events and activities and support the day to day financial management of projects, reforecasting budgets and setting up timelines. You will also undertake research support tasks including administering surveys, producing feedback reports for research participants and extracting and collating relevant information from key documents and websites.

This role requires experience of project management and of organising interviews, events, focus groups or similar activities, together with excellent administrative and financial skills. Experience of working in or with health and social care organisations would be an advantage.

L&W is growing our research team and looking for a Head of Research to lead innovative, impactful research and evaluation projects across our focus areas of employment and skills.

This role will expand our capacity to win and deliver evaluation and qualitative research, while strengthening our methodological capability. We’re open-minded about what that means—but we want people who can go beyond standard process evaluations and basic qualitative approaches. You might have experience mapping and evaluating complex system-level change, applying realist evaluation methods, or developing co-design and participatory research projects. You will have have applied these while working alongside the practitioners and policymakers who need these insights to make decisions.

Main Purpose

The Head of Research: Evaluation and Qualitative Methods is a new post for L&W – as we seek to deepen our capability and expand our capacity.

The post-holder will direct research projects across all of our areas of work, providing specific leadership and expertise in programme and system-level evaluations, and projects mobilising innovative or advanced qualitative methods (such as system mapping, co-design methods, ethnographic methods, creative methods and/or theory-based/realist evaluation).

They will work with the Head of Research: Employment and Better Work to develop the wider qualitative and evaluative skills of the wider research team.

They will also play a key role in leading and writing responding to tenders and working with colleagues to develop pro-active research proposals that fill key evidence gaps and respond to the interests of our funders. They will be a good relationship manager – who can understand what commissioners are interested in, and shape projects to deliver meaningful insights that solve the problems practitioners and policymakers face across employment and skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Line manage members of the R&D team
• Co-lead the qualitative methods group at L&W: supporting the wider research team to develop their skills.

• Write and contribute to reactive and proactive funding proposals across L&W’s areas of work, with a specific focus on process and theory-based evaluations, and proposals using advanced/innovative qualitative methods

The main purpose of the role is to prepare individuals to move on to independent living in the community. Service users may step down from the intensive support service to high, medium or lower needs before moving into the community.

From the outset of an individual's tenancy the focus of the support is on preparing them for their journey of recovery and independence over an agreed period. Our support service is provided 24 hours a day 365 days per year with tailored flexible support delivered in accordance with need. ​

You will have sound knowledge of mental health legislation, including CPA processes, and be skilled in crisis management, communication, and providing dignified, person-centred support. A good awareness of health and safety and safeguarding is essential, as is the ability to work flexibly across early and late shifts, weekends, and bank holidays to meet 24-hour service needs. You will also bring strong IT, literacy, and numeracy skills, with the ability to produce clear written correspondence and maintain accurate records.

Main Purpose Of Job:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team in a dual-role capacity, supporting two vital services run in partnership with Homeless Oxfordshire and Connection Support. The role covers both our Step Down provision—designed for individuals discharged from hospital under the Discharge to Assess model—and our service at Mawle Court, which provides temporary accommodation and support for people with complex needs, including those preparing for more independent living or in need of emergency provision. Working as part of a small, dynamic, and enthusiastic team, you will be responsible for delivering a safe and supportive environment across both services. You will lead on the case management of clients with complex needs, working collaboratively with partner agencies to develop and implement holistic, individualised support and move-on plans. Black Thrive Global (BTG) evolved from the work of the Black Thrive Lambeth Partnership, which was established in 2016. We exist to address the inequalities that negatively impact the mental health and wellbeing of Black people so that the thriving of Black communities is the norm.

Purpose of the role

The purpose of this role is to support our Head of Finance and Operations with our HR, operations and admin functions including managing systems to efficiently run the business and achieve strategic objectives agreed by Black Thrive Board of Directors. This includes being the first point of contact for HR and office queries, leading the recruitment process, managing onboarding and offboarding, preparing employment contracts (Full-time and/or part-time, zero hours and/or fixed terms contracts), supporting the Finance Officer with payroll, checking and following right-to-work in the UK, administrating DBS checks and creating new company policies together with management. The ideal candidate will be a sound HR generalist who has a good understanding of UK employment laws, organisational governance and  is comfortable working independently, have refined problem-solving skills, and thrive in a rapidly evolving environment.

Duties and responsibilities

1. The HR Manager assumes the primary responsibility for ensuring the organisations employment policies are fit for purpose and in line with any changes in employment legislation and for communicating the changes to the Directors and SLT where required.

2. Support the Head of Finance & Operations to manage HR and admin functions, including working with managers to prepare job descriptions, employment contracts, onboarding and offboarding.

3. Lead the recruitment process for new staff to source appropriate candidates for the organisation. This includes job advertising, shortlisting, interviewing, pre-employment checks and other pre-employment activities that are necessary.

4. Ensure the renewal of DBS checks for all staff is carried out on a periodic basis.

5. Process new joiners and leavers on the HR platforms and liaising with IT Support to ensure staff are set up or removed as needed.

6. Plan and coordinate induction for new employees.

7. Manage the employee performance reviews, and performance improvement plans in line with the organisations policies and any legislative requirements.

8. Work with the Head of Finance and Operations to implement and review the organisations reward principles and salary benchmarking exercise.

9. Support the Head of Finance and Operations to embed Black Thrive’s mission and values across the organisation, leading and driving the required culture change.

10. Review the existing policies and update or create new HR related policies in line with the current employment laws or governance requirements.

11. Develop, implement and review the employee development and training plan / strategy with the Head of Finance and Operations.

12. Develop and manage the annual training budget.

13. Ensure the provision of effective day-to-day office administration and support across the organisation.

14. Develop and implement sound strategies and initiatives to enhance the people management skills and capabilities across their teams.

15. Assist the Head of Finance and Operations in ensuring adherence to GDPR legislation liaising with external DPO service provider as required.

16. Responsible for ensuring staff issues around performance, disciplinary issues, needs for aids and adaptations and other wellbeing issues are dealt with in line with the organisations policies and procedures. Liaising with external HR providers where necessary.

17. Manage employee relations and resolving conflicts and disciplinary issues / grievances

18. Manage the relationship with BTG’s outsourced HR partners.

19. Ensure employee health and safety compliance and all associated documentation is maintained.

20. Ensure all employee information in Bright HR is updated daily and accurately to ensure that the payroll can be processed on the due date.

21. Enhance the development and use of Bright HR across the organisation.

22. Produce and deliver presentations, reports and other material relevant to the role.

23. Supporting staff wellbeing, including promoting the Employee Assistance Program, conducting check-ins as needed, facilitating return-to-work meetings, and tracking staff absences such as sickness, time off in lieu (TOIL), and holidays.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualifications and Experience

Equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in HR, business administration or related field.

Practical knowledge of HR best practice policies and procedures in the UK.

Knowledge of business compliance in relation to HR, health and safety and data protection.

Experience in developing and implementing new systems and processes in start-up environments.

Previous experience of working in an HR/People generalist role.

Experience setting up and maintaining administrative systems that are compliant with data protection and privacy laws.

Purpose of the job

This role creates a positive impact for young people by managing partners through the effective delivery of our youth work programmes, delivering high quality facilitation and training and building excellent relationships across a region to contribute to improvements in our network offer.

Working with Project Mangers across Network Delivery, you will enable the effective delivery of our provision to the youth sector through effective contract management and support for partnerships with Delivery Partners and Grantees. You will deliver high quality training and facilitated sessions, translating curriculum and content into engaging and effective delivery. Working within a specific geographical location you will pro -actively build relationships with organisations and networks and foster connections that will help to unlock youth work for all young people. You will gather insights from across your region to feed into and contribute to the development of our offer to our network.

Summary:

The Supporter Partnerships Officer (SPO) plays a vital role in delivering an exceptional experience for new and existing supporters of London City Mission.

Purpose of the job:

As a key member of the Fundraising team, you will be the first point of contact for individuals and organisations who give to the charity; handling enquiries, processing donations given over the telephone, updating supporter records, nurturing long-term relationships and providing insight to other members of the fundraising team.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a people-centred environment, enjoys providing outstanding supporter care, and is energised by working in a mission‑driven fundraising setting.

Your work ensures supporters feel valued, informed, and inspired to continue their journey with us. Conversations around personal faith, Biblical convictions around supporting gospel ministry and requests for prayer often form part of the dialogue between the SPO and supporters.

Key responsibilities:

Supporter care and engagement

• Be the first point of contact for supporters' (existing and new) enquiries by phone, email, letter, website and any other fundraising channels. Ensure they experience an excellent standard of response and experience.
• Be responsible for ensuring donations are thanked promptly and for establishing excellent standards of supporter care.
• You will look for opportunities to send stories and communications that show the Mission’s appreciation including leading on the LCM wide thank you events to Individual Giving supporters.
• Keep thank you letters up to date with new stories to show the impact of their donations.
• Respond to the cancellation of donations thanking the supporter for their gifts and ensure that the cancellation was planned.

 Data and insights

• Ensure all supporter information and interactions are captured accurately, up to date and stored in the fundraising CRM in line with GDPR and organisational policies to allow LCM to maximise income. This includes creating new records, assist with managing online donation pages and communicate with supporters on communication preferences and gift aid.
• Run regular reports to track supporter engagement, retention, and income trends.
• Use insights to improve supporter stewardship and fundraising journeys.

Proactive fundraising support

• Identify opportunities to deepen supporter relationships, including upgrading gifts, promoting campaigns, or encouraging long term commitments.
• Support the delivery of fundraising appeals, events, and supporter journeys.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the fundraising team to deliver outstanding supporter experiences.
• Maximise income by ensuring gift aid declarations are correct and up to date giving supporters every opportunity to opt in. 

Donation processing and administration

• Accurately set up new direct debits and Gift Aid declarations.
• During staff absence support the recording and reconciliation of donations if necessary.

Fundraising and supporter partnerships team

• Represent LCM at external events and conferences each year where the SPO will be expected to communicate LCM’s vision with a passion for and understanding of the gospel message, as well as share their personal journey of faith in Jesus Christ.
• Provide support and take part in meetings, activities and events in the Fundraising and Supporter Partnerships Team.
• Fully participate in the spiritual life of the Mission including attending the annual week of prayer, the monthly Team Day and daily staff prayers.

This role is based in London City Mission office in Tower Bridge Road and will involve occasional UK travel.

About the role

In this role we will trust you to work with other team members on a caseload of clients delivering personalised support to them. You will proactively engage with our clients and provide a hand so they can overcome barriers, move into independent living and sustain a tenancy. Our clients have a range of support needs that impact their experience of homelessness. This includes mental health problems, social isolation, challenging behaviour, finance and debt, alcohol and drug abuse. You will deliver structured support and do some risk management so we will trust you to keep proper records and complete some admin tasks. This includes, reviewing support and risk plans, involving key stakeholders where required, showing and signposting our clients to appropriate external support and services, following safeguarding procedures, do some cleaning and contribute to the delivery of a housing management service including collecting income. Main Responsibilities Of The Role:
