Job description

Support Worker

Mansfield, Nottinghamshire

£20,500 - £22,077 per annum

Do you have a passion for caring for others and making a positive impact?

Then this could be the job for you…

We are looking for two person-centred Support Workers with a “can do” attitude! You will support people with their day-to-day lives to achieve greater independence and wellbeing; using your positive thinking, resourcefulness and resilient personality to improve the lives of our service users.

We believe it’s not about what work experience you have, but about the person you are. Although previous experience in care is always desirable, we also welcome people who are seeking a new career in care, as plenty of training will be provided. You will be given an in depth induction and help towards obtaining your Care Certificate.

About the service

Midworth Street is a mental health service which provides housing and support for adults who are over eighteen with a mental health diagnosis, throughout Mansfield and Ashfield. The service is split across three large town houses each containing thirteen individual rooms, with all three houses having shared communal space allowing the service room to provide a safe, and engaging space to support tenants.

The service provides support to enable individuals to develop their skills for independence by supporting tenants to make budgeting claims, access education and develop relationships with services such as housing official and social services.

What will you be doing?

You will be working closely with our fantastic and well-established team to support tenants at the project, key working with tenants and creating and maintaining tailored support plans once you are settled in. Support provided will include but not limited to:

  • Working with tenants families, carers and friends to develop and maintain support networks.
  • Produce, review and update support plans in partnership with tenants/service users and staff.
  • Support tenant/service user to make choices and decisions about their lives.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy physical environment for tenants/service users and staff.
  • Help in finding and applying for accommodation including setting up and maintaining a tenancy
  • Help with making benefit claims, budgeting and debt repayment plans
  • Dealing with housing officials and private landlords
