As our PR Manager for the Midlands and the North of England, you will raise the profile of the British Heart Foundation (BHF) in support of our lifesaving work.
Responsible for creating awareness of BHF, you’ll focus on our research funding and its impact to grow our support and income. You’ll promote BHF’s work, influencing local partners and shaping the charity’s reputation through media, engagement events, and other communication channels.
Working with local teams to devise and deliver impactful communication strategies, you’ll meet challenging KPIs and demonstrate significant impact which should raise the public’s propensity to give. You will work with the UK-wide media team to devise and deliver PR strategies to promote key brand and awareness campaigns.
Your local expertise will guide the way we influence and use both traditional media, digital channels, and engagement opportunities.
Working arrangements
Fixed term contract until 31 March 2025, covering secondment. Start date is as soon as possible.
This is a home-based role with occasional travel across the Midlands and North of England. There will also be a requirement to travel to BHF offices where necessary for team events and meetings.

About you
As our ideal candidate, you bring in-depth knowledge of the media landscape in the Midlands and North of England, and demonstrable experience of finding and developing stories for the media, delivering successful communications campaigns, and working collaboratively in a media team.
With strong experience gained as a journalist or in a communications role (either in-house or agency), you have excellent written and verbal communication and presenting skills, the ability to build trust and relationships, and strong creativity in developing campaigns. You can take complicated information and translate it into consumer-friendly communications.
A confident self-starter who enjoys travelling across the UK, you can work under your own initiative as part of a supportive and geographically dispersed team.

Advocacy and Support Manager

Galop, the UK’s LGBT+ anti-abuse charity, is seeking a Survivor Engagement Manager. Galop works directly with thousands of LGBT+ people who have experienced abuse and violence every year. We specialise in supporting victims and survivors of domestic abuse, sexual violence, hate crime, and other forms of abuse including honour-based abuse, forced marriage, and so-called conversion therapies. We are a service run by LGBT+ people, for LGBT+ people, and the needs of our community are at the centre of what we do. We are person-centred, empowerment-based, and trauma- informed – meaning our focus is always on helping our clients decide what is best for them, and then supporting them through their journey.
We are looking for a new Advocacy & Support Manager to manage a team of specialist advocates and caseworkers providing needs-led support, information and advocacy to LGBT+ survivors of a range of violence and abuse. You will work with the Head of Advocacy and other advocacy managers to ensure that survivors have access to needs-led, timely support that is right for them, maintaining high quality, consistent support across our advocacy and one-to-one support, whether that is in-person or remote.
You will have an in depth understanding of the spectrum of violence and abuse that LGBT+ people are subjected to, including the causes, impact and barriers to accessing services. You will use your expertise to represent Galop with key stakeholders, advocating for the needs of the community. You will be responsible for ensuring that data collected about the service is collected consistently and use this to report to funders. You will develop and maintain relationships with funders and ensuring that the service is effectively demonstrating the different that it makes. You will work with the Head of Advocacy and Director of Services to develop bids for new or continued funding for frontline services.
You will have expertise in delivering needs-led specialist support services. You will need to be solutions-focussed and enjoy working collaboratively across a diverse and committed team. You’ll need to have good resilience and self-care, and be prepared to work in an environment where abuse and violence are regularly talked about. You’ll need to understand the impact of trauma and how that affects our team.
Location: Galop’s offices are located in London. This role will have the option of hybrid working.

We need an events manager who is adept at managing projects and events, working with our fundraisers and encouraging our supporters to get involved in our events such as our annual trek, the prestigious Care Sector Ball, and all the other events we’re involved in. The right person will have the confidence and persistence it takes to persuade, cajole, prod and encourage fundraisers to do as much as they can to raise funds for us. You need to be proficient at managing the admin that goes with events, including using fundraising platforms such as Just Giving and Enthuse to engage with fundraisers and provide regular reports on the income raised. We will also need you to organize hotel, travel, conference arrangements for the team.
You must be based in England, to help us keep travel costs down as much as possible. The role is home based, with travel to fundraising events, conferences and network meetings, and with travel every 10 weeks or so to central London for team meetings.
You must be a determined self-reliant professional though also a team player, to effectively coordinate and execute events and other activities, and be passionate about events management and fundraising to enable us to raise as much money as possible for the charity.

Your role will be to further develop and deliver a range of events and initiatives that the Harlequins Foundation offers to its supporters to help us to raise the funds we need to deliver our programmes. As the charitable arm of the Club, we deliver a variety of programmes aimed at achieving improved outcomes for education and employability, wellbeing and inclusion. The role will play a key part in delivering high-profile fundraising events while building the Foundation’s engagement with different communities and supporter types, being instrumental in delivering campaigns and events to engage new audiences with the Foundation’s purpose.
As a proactive and enthusiastic person, you'll need to be adept at managing multiple projects and events concurrently. Working closely with the Head of Fundraising and Engagement and within a small Fundraising team, the successful applicant will be responsible for delivering events from Harlequins matchday activations to Foundation fundraising events.

ROLE SUMMARY
Programme Managers (PMs) lead and support a team of Programme Coordinators (PCs), Programme Leaders (PLs) and Junior Programme Managers (JPMs) to successfully deliver upReach’s STEM programmes, including the Engineering Springboard, Tech Springboard and future STEM Springboards/ programmes.
A PM will be responsible for ensuring teams are equipped to deliver programme outcomes and OKRs, whilst overseeing and maintaining strong partner relationships and ensuring team professional development. They will also directly work with their own group of Associates.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Programme Manager, you will lead and support a team of PCs and/or PLs to complete their day-to-day tasks. At this stage, you are responsible for having a wide impact across your programmes and the charity as a whole, as well as maintaining high-quality personalised support for your own Associates.

1) PROGRAMME DESIGN AND DELIVERY

Make decisions concerning the design and delivery of your programmes, creating a 12-month plan in advance of the start of each recruitment cycle.

Plan student recruitment activities in collaboration with partners and via social media, in addition to the onboarding process. This will include working with the Student Attraction Leader and Senior Marketing Officer to efficiently meet onboarding targets.

Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of your programmes with overarching responsibility for meeting internal engagement and application success OKRs, which you will utilise throughout the year to set priority areas for your team.

Contribute to weekly Programme Manager meetings, sharing your insight and experience to generate ideas and practical solutions that support the overall improvement of upReach’s programme design and delivery.

Lead on parts of the weekly Delivery Meeting with the wider team, to ensure weekly focus areas and key team messages are communicated clearly to all PCs and PLs.
2) TEAM MANAGEMENT

Manage a team of Programme Coordinators/Leaders/Junior Managers in a variety of locations, both virtually and in person - providing ongoing personal and professional development support through weekly 1-to-1 calls or meetings, written feedback on documents, or day-to-day guidance via Slack.

Support Programme Coordinators / Programme Leaders/Junior Managers to provide high quality personalised support to their Associates, which includes helping them to document all interactions with Associates and application progress.

Use relevant impact dashboards and data to set priorities for your team and support with competing workload demands and time management, to ensure that OKRs and stakeholder KPIs are achieved.

Manage the performance and development of your team - including setting SMART professional development goals and utilising a range of resources and tools where necessary to help your team perform successfully in their roles. You will have regular, open and supportive discussions with your team members, giving feedback in your weekly 1-to-1s and your mid- and end-of-year appraisals.

Support your direct reports through a Leadership and Management apprenticeship, if this is something your direct reports choose to do after 18 months on the FCLP.

Be part of the upReach Leadership Team and contribute to forming the strategy and direction of the charity. This also includes passing on team feedback to your manager and the leadership team and proposing practical solutions.
3) PARTNERSHIPS & EVENTS

Maintain strong relationships with external partners, including managing quarterly/annual reporting requirements on aims and objectives.

Help your team to manage day-to-day partnership responsibilities, and coach them in relationship management. This will also involve supporting PCs/PLs where necessary to set boundaries with partners and sensitively manage requests that are outside the parameters of our contractual agreements.

Manage a Delivery Responsibility area, rotation or project. This will involve meeting with the relevant team regularly (often weekly or bi-weekly depending on the time of year/focus area), and guiding those working on this area with you.

About the role
The Corporate Partnerships Manager role is responsible for delivery across the breadth of the partnerships pipeline. An estimated 50% of the role will be devoted to new business development, including prospect identification, and shaping and delivering pitches and proposals to corporates and their foundations to meet fundraising targets. The remaining 50% of partnership work will be dedicated to delivering an excellent standard of partnership management to several longstanding existing supporters, working creatively to identify and develop opportunities to maximise their impact.

Partnership liaison and relationship management
