Southwark Cathedral has been a place of Christian worship for over 1400 years. The Executive Assistant (EA) will provide support to the Chief Operation Officer (COO) to assist them in the effective functioning of all governance, human resources and operational arrangements at the Cathedral.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Risk & Assurance Manager to join our Chief Executive Office. You will provide high quality support to the Head of Audit, Risk & Governance in the implementation and oversight of effective risk management and assurance policies and procedures for the whole organisation.

You will attend the Audit & Risk Committee and other board committees from time to time to present on risk and assurance.  With experience of delivering 2nd line risk and assurance activities within large, complex or heavily regulated organisation, you will be effective in building professional relationships and influencing and collaborating with colleagues from all disciplines and at all levels.

Role Requirements

• Your main objectives is to support the board and senior leadership team in ensuring the charity continues to deliver high-quality, safe, effective and financially sustainable services for vulnerable children now and in the longer-term;
• Under the guidance of the Head of Risk, Audit & Governance, and in collaboration with key stakeholders across the organisation, coordinate and manage the implementation and ongoing development of the charity’s risk management framework; risk policies, risk appetite statement; “risk universe” and board assurance framework / assurance map;
• Undertake deep dive risk assessments and provide assurance over the effectiveness of internal controls from time to time as required by Audit & Risk Committee;
• Undertake a quarterly review of key financial controls and report findings to the Finance, Finance, Investments & Resources Committee and Audit & Risk Committee;
• Monitor and report on the implementation of agreed management actions designed to strengthen risk mitigation strategies / close compliance gaps and provide assurance on these to SLT and trustees.
• Prepare the risk update for SLT, the board and each of its committees including risk heat maps and key risk indicators for the charity’s principal risks.
• Establish effective working relationships with other second line risk, quality and compliance functions and periodically monitor the effectiveness of their activities.
• Liaise with SLT directors to ensure departmental risk registers are in place and appropriately maintained.
• Facilitate risk workshops and provide online training on TCT’s risk management policy and procedures. Meet regularly with risk owners to review risk responses and progress with actions.  Ensure there is an effective process of escalation of significant risks to SLT and trustees;
• Prepare an annual review of the effectiveness of internal control and risk management for the Audit & Risk Committee;

About the role

The Data Governance & Operations Manager at Crisis is a pivotal role in our transformation journey. You will lead the development of data governance, architecture, and operational processes that ensure our data is trusted, accessible, and used responsibly to drive our mission to end homelessness.

Senior People & Culture Associate – Contracts

The Senior People & Culture Associate for Contracts provides administrative support across a variety of functions supporting the recruitment, hiring and consultant lifecycle of Internews Europe (UK) and Internews International (France) Personal Services Contractors. 

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, with other duties upon request:  

· Draft personal services contracts and modifications for both Internews Europe and Internews International 

· Review contract requests on a case-by-case basis to ensure adherence to organisational and international hiring regulations, tailoring needs to those of Internews Europe, Internews International and the overarching Alliance

· Liaise with program teams to explain and advise on policies and best practices

· Lead collaboration with PMUs to find suitable solutions that meet the needs of all stakeholders for PSC contracts and modifications 

· Distribute and track contract documents through electronic signature software, proactively setting reminders and ensuring documents are signed within service level commitment timeline 

· Create and maintain accurate, up to date contractor records 

· Run regular, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly or ad-hoc personnel reports 

· Provide support and reporting on personnel data for internal and external organizational audits 

· Perform background screens as required for long-term consultants 

· Perform regular data audits within specific HR systems, updating data as needed in response to data audit findings

· Co-Manage contracts request inbox, ensuring individual tasks are picked up, processed, and archived

· Perform vetting upon new contract process, clearing false hits or escalating results as needed

· Determine necessary compliance documentation and approvals for each contract or modification including ERGO pre-approvals, RRSAs, Right to Work checks, etc.

· Initiate the process of acquiring necessary approvals including liaising with other teams and ensure outcomes have been documented in an auditable manner

· Pro-actively flag and support updates to SOP documents for recruitment processes as requested

· Cross-train on a range of other HR duties and support as needed

· Review and track Conflict of Interest disclosures as needed

· Support clearance of consultant conflict of interest disclosures, escalating disclosure as needed

· Provide support, coordination, and project management to wider HRPC projects and priorities as required

· Complete ERP data entry and maintenance for all IEU and II PSCs as well as locally engaged staff

Responsibilities

Finance Administration

• Develop, manage & maintain systems to account for financial transactions by overseeing a chart of accounts; monitoring, policing and refining financial policies and procedures alongside the Finance Manager

• Oversee and maintain the purchase order system
• Check purchase invoices received, post within the accounting system and ensure correct authorisation for payment
• Post donations received and reconciliation of fundraising and accounting databases
• Reconcile and post lottery receipts and costs.
• Manage all petty cash payments, expenses payments and associated reconciliations
• Oversee and manage receipts from online sources (e.g. Just Giving, PayPal etc)
• Produce bi-monthly payment runs to suppliers, oversee other ad hoc payments and post within the accounting system
• Manage and reconcile the various bank accounts including charity credit card statements
• Recognise and flag to management when gifts in kind and discounted rates/terms have been applied on supplies

Finance Compliance and reporting

• Support Finance Manager with ensuring all financial records and information are compliant with Fundraising Regulator and ICO regulations
• Responsible for all PAYE and NI reporting requirements and payments of any related liabilities in a timely manner where applicable
• Co-ordinate and update cash flow reporting and forecasting
• Monitor bank position and ensuring adequate cash funds are maintained to enable the charity to function in an efficient and effective manner
• Assist the Finance Manager with the preparation of information for annual audit and support external auditors as required

The Role

As Chief Financial Officer, you will lead the financial strategy and operations of LTM, ensuring robust financial management, governance, and performance. Role Description

The Safeguarding Officer will lead and oversee all aspects of safeguarding within St Edmundsbury Cathedral, ensuring that the Cathedral remains a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for children, young people, and vulnerable adults.

You will be responsible for ensuring that the Cathedral meets all statutory safeguarding obligations and complies fully with the Church of England’s national safeguarding policies, diocesan frameworks, and relevant legislation. This includes proactively identifying potential risks, responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns, and ensuring effective reporting and case management in partnership with the Diocesan Safeguarding Team and statutory agencies.

Beyond compliance, this role is about embedding a culture of care, accountability, and transparency across the Cathedral community. You will support clergy, staff, and volunteers to understand their safeguarding responsibilities, ensure safer recruitment and training practices, and provide guidance and reassurance when safeguarding issues arise.

By acting as a source of expert advice, leadership, and advocacy, the Safeguarding Officer will help the Cathedral community uphold the highest standards of safety, dignity, and pastoral care, ensuring that everyone, regardless of age, background, or circumstance, can participate fully and confidently in Cathedral life.

The Cathedral Safeguarding Officer has operational authority within the Cathedral (subject to agreement with the Diocesan Safeguarding Officer with respect to responding to concerns and allegations against Church officers) for the following responsibilities, arranged according to the Church of England’s National Safeguarding Standards.

Training & awareness

• Lead on Cathedral safeguarding training, coordinate and deliver induction and refresher training for staff, volunteers, and clergy.
• Maintain up-to-date records of safeguarding training for all staff and volunteers (showing completion and renewal dates).
• Create accessible safeguarding information and communications for the Cathedral community (e.g., weekly bulletin items, posters, webpages and event briefings) to raise awareness and reinforce good practice.
• Provide tailored briefings for high-risk roles and ongoing advice to managers and supervisors on safeguarding responsibilities.
• To evaluate training to ensure that learnings have been embedded.

Policy & risk management

• Review, update and implement the Cathedral’s safeguarding policies and procedures on a regular schedule (and sooner where guidance or case learning requires change).
• Lead safeguarding risk assessments for services, events, volunteer activities and external bookings; provide straightforward, action-focused mitigation plans for event organisers and hirers.
• Conduct audits and spot-checks to ensure practice aligns with policy and report findings with recommended improvements.
• Ensure contractors, partner organisations and hirers meet required safeguarding standards and that any safeguarding responsibilities are set out contractually where appropriate.

Additional duties and professional development

• Provide clear, timely advice within agreed working hours and support any out-of-hours arrangements for urgent safeguarding concerns as agreed with Chapter.
• Maintain your own professional development through training, supervision and membership of relevant safeguarding networks; ensure learning is shared across the Cathedral.
• Carry out any other reasonable duties that support the effective delivery of safeguarding across the Cathedral.

About this exciting opportunity

Working as part of a multi-agency team, you will provide person-centred support to a caseload of service users who will either be serving community sentences or being released from prison.  You will undertake assessment and action planning with individual service users, create a safe and trusting environment, using trauma-informed practice to successfully facilitate a supportive and constructive relationship with service users, plus deliver a range of interventions to service users which contribute towards achievement of prescribed outcomes.

We will also count on you to develop and maintain positive working relationships with external agencies, including probation, prisons, partners, and others who will assist in achieving prescribed outcomes for service users, ensuring you work towards contractual targets and outcomes within agreed timescales.  Using agreed CRM databases and recording all activity relating to caseload and providing updates and reports are also key duties.

What we are looking for

• Experience working with partner agencies either as part of a multi-agency team working towards common objectives or negotiating to establish links to further the aims of a project
• L3 in Advice and Guidance or equivalent
• The ability to assess clients’ needs and provide tailored, client-led support through action planning and interventions involving advice, guidance, advocacy, and coaching
• An ability to work sensitively with clients applying trauma-informed strategies
• Impressive IT, relationship-building and communication skills, both verbal and written
