Job description

Since 1892, Birmingham Dogs Home has been rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming dogs across the West Midlands. Each year, thousands of dogs receive the second chance they deserve because of the generosity of our supporters.

As we prepare to celebrate our 135th anniversary, we're investing in our income generation team and are now looking for an experienced Community Fundraiser to help shape the next stage of its development.

You will take the lead role in growing community fundraising across the West Midlands, building strong relationships with local groups, schools, clubs, small businesses and individuals. You will inspire people to fundraise in their own communities by developing new opportunities and will help to turn local support into sustainable income for Birmingham Dogs Home.

Working closely with the Events & Community Fundraising Manager, you will develop our community fundraising programme, enhance our volunteer led supporter base and play a key role in developing one of our charity's key income streams.

About You

We're looking for someone with previous community fundraising experience, or relevant experience in a similar relationship-building or business development role. You will be confident in developing new relationships, identifying opportunities and turning ideas into successful fundraising activity.

You will be organised, self-motivated and comfortable managing a varied workload across a wide geographical area. You will enjoy building lasting relationships with supporters and local organisations, providing the encouragement and practical support they need to raise funds successfully.

You will understand what makes a positive supporter experience and know how thoughtful stewardship can turn a one-off donation into long-term support. Above all, you will be a confident ambassador for Birmingham Dogs Home, with the ability to inspire others to support dogs in need across our region.

In return, we offer:

  • Two weeks' free dog boarding
  • 25% discount on veterinary treatment
  • Free on-site parking
  • Life assurance
  • BHSF Health Plan
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Pension contribution
  • Ongoing CPD and development opportunities

If you're looking for a role where you can make a genuine difference, we'd love to hear from you.
