As the Senior Events Fundraiser, you will be responsible for delivering a range of third-party challenge events. Working with a team this role will deliver some exciting events across the year to raise £2m+ and have the opportunity to introduce new fundraising activities. This role will steward fundraising teams of significant sizes across a wide portfolio of events including runs, cycling and challenges.
To be successful as the Senior Events Fundraiser you will have proven experience of working on large scale fundraising events. This person will be comfortable building relationships with internal and external stakeholders and be able to deliver excellent supporter stewardship. You will ideally have experience in marketing and promoting events, and be able to work with a team to develop and deliver successful projects.
This role is a full-time permanent position that will have hybrid working in their Edinburgh offices.

You will be joining our Philanthropy Team that's responsible for managing relationships with, and securing donations from, mid and major value individuals and trusts & foundations. The team has recently transitioned to a new team structure with a new set of ambitions and plans, and more formalised support across the organisation, at all levels, to enable the team to deliver.

The Role
As the Legacies Manager, you will assume a pivotal role within our dynamic Partnership and Development team. - Provide excellent stewardship to all supporters who engage with legacies, working with stakeholders to ensure journeys are insight-led, respond to audience needs, and are well documented and reported upon.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of legacy giving initiatives and regularly report on progress to senior leadership and key stakeholders. Use data and analytics to inform decision-making and continuously improve strategies for maximising legacy support.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the end-to-end process for delivering the legacies plan is designed and documented. This includes solving problems in circumstances where there is minimal guidance available from established practices and precedents within the organisation.
- Work closely with the Head of Relationship Fundraising and other fundraising colleagues to ensure that all fundraising activities are well-coordinated and contribute towards the overall fundraising strategy.
- Identify growth opportunities that foster organisational projects which impact and improve the Legacy programme.
- Develop and execute marketing and promotional campaigns to raise awareness of legacy giving opportunities within the organisation. This role sits within the Development team, a sub-team of Philanthropy, at Alzheimer’s Society and plays a vital role in the success of our Insurance United Against Dementia campaign. Insurance United Against Dementia (IUAD) is a senior volunteer led industry initiative which has raised an incredible £9million to date. We have ambitious plans to reach an initial £10million target within the next 12-months and to take the campaign into a second phase to achieve further impact.
Since the campaign launched in September 2017, we have seen significant success, raising awareness of dementia and the profile of Alzheimer’s Society and IUAD across the industry through corporate partnerships, philanthropy, industry events and owned activities.
We are looking for an individual who matches the ambition of the team and our industry supporter, someone with a personable style that can take ownership of the events fundraising stream and communication plans for the IUAD campaign.
The post holder offers unique opportunities to take responsibility for key initiatives, such as our flagship fundraising event, the Insurance Day for Dementia. Our Third Party Events team are working to raise up to £2m+ across a range of activities in 2024, and we need brilliant people to help achieve our ambitious fundraising goals.
In this role, you'll be responsible for managing a portfolio of third party challenge events to target, and for innovating, developing and delivering new fundraising activities.
You'll also be monitoring and evaluating all products to create opportunities for future growth. This role is customer-focused and you'll spend lots of time stewarding our amazing supporters to maximise their fundraising.
This is an exciting opportunity to steward fundraising teams of significant size, as well as helping to shape the future third party events strategy.
The portfolio is well-established and includes a mixture of events activities, including runs, cycles and challenges.
