Working in our small Income Generation Team, you will have responsibility for writing compelling proposals and reports that showcase the impact of our work. This role reports to the Senior Storytelling Manager with close alignment with colleagues across the marcomms directorate. The marcomms manager will be responsible for managing marketing campaigns in the South East and London Region of England and promoting SSAFA’s fundraising initiatives and services. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Manager to oversee the successful delivery of this National Lottery Heritage Fund-supported project, focused on urgent repairs, sustainable development, building resilience, and community engagement.

About the Role

As Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of the Ringing the Changes project, ensuring all outcomes are met on time, within budget, and in line with NLHF guidance. You will support the PCC and wider team in coordinating a diverse work programme, including urgent (temporary) repairs to the roof, a sustainability study, heritage engagement activities, and long-term business planning. Working closely with the PCC, consultants, and the Heritage Fund, you will play a pivotal role in revitalising this historic church and connecting its mission to its vibrant local community.

As a Community Fundraiser (South) you will:

• Promote the charity’s pastoral and spiritual work within local communities.
• Develop strong relationships with parishes, schools, and diocesan networks to increase engagement with the charity’s mission.
• Inspire people to make donations and raise funds to support the charity projects, including the sale of charity items and organising fundraising events.
• Recruit and support volunteers, as well as manage fundraising groups and initiatives across the region.
• Manage relationships with high value and legacy donors, ensuring their continued support and engagement.

To be successful, you must have experience:

• Previous experience in community fundraising or a related field is beneficial.
• A strong network of contacts within the diocesan community, schools, or special interest groups is a plus.
• Exceptional communication skills, public speaking abilities, and strong organisational capabilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with social media are essential.
• Ability to work independently, manage your own time, and take ownership of key projects, while also being a strong team player.

About this key role

Our successful candidate will provide effective management to a team to ensure all bids/applications are submitted to commissioner requirements, are high quality and in line with St Giles Trust’s strategic objectives, as well as coaching the team to develop their bid writing and bid management skills.  You will also oversee the project management of funding applications/bids, including bid writing, and to maintain a pipeline of opportunities to plan appropriately for upcoming work and assign team resource.

We will count on you to identify and successfully bring in new funding opportunities that align with organisational strategic objectives, take the lead on information management and record keeping – ensuring systems and processes are updated and used effectively, whilst also updating the Fundraising Management Team with strategic developments in funding opportunities, e.g. emerging funding areas.
