We are recruiting a Community Development Officer to engage key partners and stakeholders in the Yorkshire region tailoring support, training and education to create suicide safer communities. 

In this role you will be: 

• Identifying, developing and maintaining effective partnerships with local communities, volunteers and key partners across the region to engage them in the prevention of young suicide. 

• Proactively promoting suicide prevention including raising the profile of PAPYRUS and engaging with those personally affected by young suicide. 

• Equipping a wide range of stakeholders to enable them to create sustainable suicide safer communities through the provision of tailored support, training and education. 

• Delivering training and raising awareness of products to a variety of groups including professionals, parents, young people, volunteers and other trainers. 

• Contributing to the development and review of projects, and education and training products, in line with the Strategic Plans. 

• Contributing to and promoting campaigns, training and opportunities as outlined in the Regional and Strategic Plans. 

To be successful in this role you will have: 

• Previous experience working in a community setting, delivering information and training sessions, leading workshops or educational activities 

• A proven track record of networking and building and managing effective relationships, tailoring the approach to meet the differing needs of the audience

• Experience as a qualified ASIST Trainer or willingness to gain qualification and experience 

• Experience of using own initiative and creativity to develop a project, programme or area of work 

• The ability to travel to different locations across the Yorkshire area to attend meetings, events and deliver training. 

Salary: £29,269 per annum (NALC SCP 18) progressing by increments to £32,076 per annum (NALC SCP 23)

We are seeking a Fundraiser with a background in lead and income generation with the drive to create change for farmed animals in the UK. You will be part of a small, high-impact team specialising in consumer education and political advocacy to help us grow our supporter base and raise essential income to support our work for animals.

As Fundraiser (Lead Generator), you will play a crucial role in supporting our mission by identifying and cultivating potential donors and supporters. Your primary responsibilities will be to generate leads utilising Engaging Networks on social media platforms and work with the Fundraising Development Manager to build on supporter journeys that maximise conversion rates.

You’ll join us in maximising the value of Engaging Networks, an intuitive, industry-leading CRM which brings fundraising and activism together and provides tools for integrating digital communications. While experience with Engaging Networks is desirable but not essential, you will have experience with CRMs, including reporting and managing campaigns.

About the Role:

Victim Support (VS) is the leading independent charity in England and Wales for people who have been affected by crime and traumatic incidents. Understanding the experience and needs of victims and witnesses of crime is central to the charities' aims and vision.

As a Research & Lived Experience Officer you will have the opportunity to capture the voice of victims and promote evidence based recommendations to improve the experience of victims in the criminal justice system. You will be a part of a small but enthusiastic research team, while also having the opportunity to lead your own project.

You will have the opportunity to recruit participants and manage a Lived Experience Engagement Forum, and to regularly engage, build and maintain close relationships with the forum's participants. You will also need to conduct workshops/focus groups to collect feedback and insights from the participants on various products and procedures, and produce summaries of this feedback.

To be successful in the role you will need to have proven experience in recruiting vulnerable people to take part in research activities and conducting workshops or focus groups and interviews. Experience in writing and analysing surveys is an advantage. You will also have excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work independently, as well as experience of working in partnership with various stakeholders. Having knowledge of victims of crime is desirable, but not essential.

Due to the rapid expansion of Day One Trauma Support over the last three years, the charity’s infrastructure has needed to respond quickly to meet its changing demands. There is now a requirement to ensure that the Finance and Resources team has the right skill set and capacity to provide the support needed by the charity in an efficient and proactive way.

The HR Officer and Executive Assistant role is a newly created position to reflect both the growing HR needs of the charity as the workforce expands, and the executive support required by the CEO and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to ensure the efficient and effective running of the charity. This is a key role which is instrumental in bringing the HR and organisational administration functions together at an operational level.

Reporting primarily to the Director of Finance and Resources and assisted by an external HR and Employment Law support service, this role will provide advice, guidance and support to all line managers in HR related matters whilst building and nurturing relationships with key stakeholders throughout all levels of the organisation.  This will include support to ensure the efficient and effective management, monitoring and reporting of people metrics, from recruitment, development, retention through to attrition and at all stages of the employee life cycle.

The role will also provide crucial executive support to the CEO and SLT of three Directors, to ensure the smooth operation of their responsibilities and co-ordinating efforts of various parties to ensure completion of key tasks and actions.

About you:

SUDEP Action is the only UK charity focused on preventing epilepsy-related deaths. We have the only epilepsy bereavement service freely available to anyone suddenly bereaved by epilepsy (including SUDEP). This exciting project will see this team, supported by Transition Together staff, co-design an in person Transition Assembly early next year to guide the future of our Movement in the UK as well as build relationships with Transitioners across Wales and England and connect to emerging and established networks across the UK. These roles will be around two days a week for 10 months and the deadline to apply is 13 May.

The Peer Support Coordinator will play a critical role in the delivery of Day One's Peer Support Service. The primary objectives are to ensure a high-quality service is delivered to our beneficiaries; to develop our regional peer support model; and to facilitate a positive volunteering experience for our lived experience volunteer team. Responsibilities will include the day-to-day coordination of peer support activity. This will involve sensitive communication with trauma-affected individuals to understand their needs and preferences, using this information to facilitate suitable peer support matches.

The postholder will contribute to building a diverse volunteer team by supporting the volunteer recruitment and induction processes. They will offer ongoing support, guidance and motivation to our volunteers, ensuring meaningful opportunities to engage with Day One. The postholder will support the Peer Support Manger to conduct regular reviews with volunteers to gather feedback on their experiences as well as supporting their personal and professional development.

The Peer Support Co-ordinator will monitor service delivery and volunteer activity to ensure it is operating within agreed policies and processes. To ensure we can evidence the success and quality of the service, a key aspect of the role will involve keeping accurate records of interventions as well as collecting regular evaluation/impact data and personal case studies.

You will be a compassionate individual, dedicated to ensuring the highest quality of support for our beneficiaries and volunteers alike. You will be empathic with strong active listening skills, able to demonstrate sensitivity and discretion in your communication with trauma-affected individuals.  You will be adept at identifying individual’s support needs and have strong social/communication skills enabling you to facilitate appropriate and meaningful peer support matches. Possessing excellent organisational skills, you will thrive in the fast-paced and reactive environment of peer support service delivery.

You will be committed to maintaining high standards and have a keen eye for detail able to keep accurate records of interventions and collect evaluation/impact data with regularity. Additionally, you will have a proactive approach to building and supporting a diverse volunteer team.  You will be a ‘people-person’, enjoy speaking with others, and have the knowledge and confidence to offer ongoing guidance and motivation to our volunteer team. Your ability to conduct regular reviews to gather feedback to support volunteers' personal and professional development will be essential in driving the continued success of our peer support service. You will enjoy supporting others to develop new skills and navigate challenges successfully.  

Day One is a young, ambitious national charity dedicated to supporting people impacted by serious or multiple injuries which could result in life changing consequences such as disability or death, referred to in the NHS as ‘major trauma’.  Our Caseworkers work alongside NHS Clinicians, embedded as part of the team within Major Trauma Centres and across the wider Major Trauma Network to provide practical, emotional and financial support to adults and children as well as their families and loved ones.  Inspired ‘by patients for patients’ our vision is that no one has to piece life back together on their own after catastrophic injury. 

As part of our fund management programmes, THET will be conducting a variety of international visits and events in the next 11 months. We require a consultant to lead the administration of the logistics involved in this work.

Assignment overview and scheduling

The consultant will provide logistical support across three main categories:

1. Scoping assessments in four sub-Saharan African countries, namely Ethiopia, Malawi, Somaliland and Zimbabwe
   1. A scoping assessment is a week-long series of in-person meetings with Ministry of Health and other relevant government sector representatives, subnational health agencies and government authorities, regulatory bodies, training institutions, FCDO, UK DHSC, WHO local offices.
   2. Each visit will likely involve up to 3 staff travelling from the UK to the country
   3. The consultant will be responsible for organising their travel rather than the scoping assessment meetings.
2. Delegation visit from Zimbabwe to UK
   1. A week-long visit of up to 7 Ministry of Health representatives and other national stakeholders to the UK
   2. The consultant will be responsible for organising their travel and some of the meetings while in-country.
3. Programme launch events in Ethiopia, Malawi, Somaliland and Zimbabwe
   1. A one-day long event in each country, with between 40-80 attendees
   2. Each event will likely see 2-3 staff travelling from the UK to the country. The consultant will be required to organise their travel and venue booking.

Knowledge, Skills and Expertise required

To successfully undertake this assignment, the Consultant should meet the following minimum requirements:

• International travel logistics experience, ideally in sub-Saharan Africa
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Budget preparation and tracking
• Proven organisational and administrative skills, with sound IT skills (Word and Excel)
• Flexibility and adaptability working within a small organisation
• Ability to work independently and take the initiative

The contract is for 40 days over eleven months. The Consultant will receive a daily rate of £180, which totals to £7,200 for the whole programme. The consultant will invoice THET on a monthly basis. Please note that this is non-negotiable and will cover all expenses apart from project-related travel and communication expenses. Where reasonable travel and communications expenses are incurred, the Consultant will be remunerated following submission of timely and accurate receipts.

Receipts must be kept, where possible, in order to claim for support costs. Consultants will not be expected to use their own funds to cover project-related costs.
