Role Purpose:

We are seeking an experienced, dynamic, fundraiser who is target driven, to apply for a new role, Philanthropy Development Manager, to lead a step-change in member giving. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of philanthropic giving at the Goldsmiths’ Company. The postholder will develop and implement strategies to double the amount individual members give each year for the next three years. In doing this they will work with the Goldsmiths’ Foundation to harness the power of community, connection, and purpose-driven philanthropy. This role is ideal for a confident relationship-builder, communicator and fundraiser who can develop compelling cases for support, segment and engage diverse supporter groups, and deliver targeted campaigns that inspire generosity. They will need to relish the opportunity to collaborate with different teams and stakeholders across the organisation and enjoy the challenge of working to achieve a significant new fundraising target. The role is part of the membership team and will collaborate closely across teams in the institution, particularly the Goldsmiths’ Foundation, Finance and Communications.

Key Responsibilities:

· Design and deliver a multi-year strategy to grow member giving, with a focus on significantly increasing contributions within a defined timeframe.

· Analyse current giving trends and segment the membership to identify opportunities for tailored engagement and stewardship.

· Develop and manage campaigns, appeals, events, and digital communications that strengthen donor relationships and drive income.

· Build personal relationships with high-potential donors.

· Collaborate with Communications and other teams to align philanthropic messaging with the Goldsmiths’ Foundation’s impact and values.

· Monitor progress through clear KPIs and provide regular performance reporting to leadership, the Membership Committee and Foundation Trustees.

· Identify and seize opportunities to amplify and promote members’ giving, in collaboration with teams across the Goldsmiths’ Foundation, Membership. Communications and Finance.

· Contribute to annual budgets and business planning.

· Maintain and develop the CRM system in line with fundraising best practice and UK GDPR, and ensure fundraising is ethical, inclusive and legally compliant.

Skills & Experience Essential:

· Proven track record in fundraising or philanthropy development, ideally within a membership or alumni-based organisation.

· Demonstrable success in growing income from individual donors, including designing and delivering donor acquisition and retention strategies.

· Strong experience in project management, with good operational and planning skills and the confidence to co-ordinate the work of others.

· Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages that resonate with diverse audiences.

· Data-driven mindset, with experience in CRM/database management, donor segmentation, and campaign performance analysis.

· Strong relationship-building skills, including experience stewarding mid- to high-level donors or members.

· Creative, proactive, and self-motivated, with a passion for mission-led work and a collaborative approach to achieving results.

Skills & Experience Desirable:

· Experience working in an arts, education, or heritage charity.

· Understanding of membership engagement models and legacy giving,

· Familiarity with ethical fundraising practices and UK charity fundraising regulations.

About the role 

Developing meaningful relationships will be at the heart of your role as Philanthropy Manager. You will inherit an established pipeline, giving you plenty of opportunity to raise £10,000-£100,000+ gifts from existing major donors and prospects. You will generate new opportunities by leading prospecting projects, working closely with our fundraising board and by collaborating with colleagues from across the charity.

What you’ll do:

• Identify, cultivate and manage relationships with a pipeline of donors and prospects able to make £10,000 - £100,000+ gifts

• Deliver pipeline activity and income targets, individually and as part of the Philanthropy team

• Secure and deliver a high volume of donor/prospect in-person touch-points, involving Parkinson’s UK senior leadership in key relationships

• Deliver first-class stewardship by maximising engagement opportunities within our stewardship programme

• Work with the Philanthropy Lead to manage the day-to-day activity of our fundraising board and secure new gifts through their networks

What you’ll bring:

• Demonstrable experience of successful major donor fundraising, with experience in securing five/six figure gifts through making verbal and written asks 

• A strong track record of building successful relationships with major donors through one-to-one meetings, phone calls, communications, events and bespoke cultivation 

• Excellent verbal presentation and persuasive writing skills 

• The confidence to influence, negotiate and inspire stakeholders at all levels both internally and externally

• Ability to proactively identify, qualify and generate new prospects

About the Role

As our creative, innovative and data led Legacy & In Memory Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for developing and delivering WaterAid’s legacy and in memory fundraising programme with the support of the Legacy and In Memory Marketing Officer. You will deliver multi-channel campaigns across TV, digital, direct mail, email and events to raise awareness of gifts in wills, generate legacy enquirers and create inspiring journeys to nurture and engage legacy and in memory supporters.

In this role, you will plan, manage and execute multi-channel campaigns across the marketing funnel, as well as work with the Legacy and In Memory Marketing Officer to deliver exceptional stewardship, through personal communications and events, to our committed supporters.

You’ll also: 

• Be responsible for using data, analysis and insight to innovate and maximise both existing campaigns and seek to test new audiences and channels that meet specific objectives within the LIM Team plans
• Undertake Project Management responsibilities required for the successful and timely delivery of multiple channel campaigns – including delivery of the award-winning legacy consideration campaign What Jack Gave across TV and digital
• Manage, coach and motivate the Legacy and In Memory Marketing Officer to deliver their campaigns.
• Manage relationships with external agencies and suppliers to ensure the effective and timely delivery of campaigns 
• Operate a rigorous test to learn methodology, regularly monitoring, evaluating and analysing campaigns

Requirements

You’ll be passionate about using your experience in fundraising and marketing to make a difference by creating inspiring and supporter-led communications that effectively raises consideration for legacy giving and uncovers new legacy prospects and legacy pledgers.

To be successful, you’ll need: 

• Proven experience in direct marketing – print and digital
• Experience of leading and motivating internal and external stakeholders
• Experience of developing and implementing multiple channels campaigns
• Experience in monitoring, evaluating and analysing complex campaigns to improve performance and manage expenditure budgets

Key responsibilities

We are looking for a relationship-driven fundraiser who can grow and manage a funder portfolio, write compelling funding bids, deliver employee engagement and volunteering opportunities, and support wider team success. You’ll need to be confident working across income streams and motivated by social impact.

Essential skills and experience:

• Excellent relationship management skills, with experience stewarding funders or clients

• Strong bid and proposal writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, compelling content

The Brompton Fountain is the children’s charity at Royal Brompton Hospital - a world leading specialist centre for complex heart and lung disease. We work in partnership with the teams on the wards, paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) and in outpatient clinics. Our charity provides support and resources for patients, families and staff, as well as funding lifesaving medical equipment, accommodation - so that parents can stay close to their child during an admission, toys and entertainment for the playroom and improvements to the facilities to create the best possible environment for families to promote their wellbeing during what can often be a very challenging time. In collaboration with the hospital trust and the NHS we also fund research projects and develop new initiatives for babies, children and young people with heart and lung conditions. 

About You

Main Duties and Responsilbilties 

Community and Events Fundraising

• Assist in the planning and execution of a diverse range of fundraising events, including challenge events and community initiatives.

• Support the management of event logistics, including participant communication, volunteer coordination, and on-the-day activities.

• Collaborate with external partners and suppliers to ensure smooth event operations and build strong relationships for future collaboration.

• Lead outreach efforts to engage new local community partners, such as (small) businesses, schools, and clubs, promoting fundraising opportunities and supporting their initiatives.

• Lead on generating income through supermarket schemes. • To represent the charity when required in schools, engagement events and cheque presentations. 

Individual Giving

• Manage the regular giving programme by implementing a rolling 12-month plan of meaningful touchpoints to deepen relationships.

• Develop and implement a plan to encourage increased giving and recruit new regular donors with personalised cultivation and stewardship.

• Maximise engagement and retention of individual supporters (giving at lower to mid-level) by prompt thanking, excellent stewardship and building effective donor journeys.

Supporter Care

• Serve as the primary point of contact for community and events fundraisers, delivering outstanding stewardship ensuring they receive the information and support needed to maximise their fundraising potential while maintaining the highest standards of stewardship and being respectful of potential sensitivities particularly when working with families who are fundraising in memory.

• Provide timely and effective follow-up communications with supporters, ensuring they feel valued and engaged.

• Maintain our CRM database ensuring accurate records to track communications, income, and supporter preferences, ensuring compliance with GDPR and data protection laws. 

Administrative and Financial Support

• Process cash and cheque donations, Gift Aid and matched funding claims, ensuring this income is processed and recorded accurately on our database.

• Manage the distribution of supporter resources, conduct stock checks for fundraising materials and ensure an organised work environment for all fundraising assets.

• Overseeing our online shop.

Marketing and Communication

• Create engaging materials (posters, leaflets, stories etc), social media content and e-newsletters to inspire participation in fundraising activities.

• Produce impact reports and collate information for the HOF to support fundraising initiatives and grant applications.

• Ensure fundraising and associated webpages are kept up to date. Team Collaboration

• Work collaboratively with the wider team (when required) to support in-hospital and community events as well as assisting with tasks as needed to ensure smooth charity operations.

• Support the CEO and team members with ad hoc projects, activities, and any high-priority tasks to contribute to overall team objectives.

• Any other duties as required by the Head of Fundraising.

Additional Information

Salary is £30,000 - £32,000 per annum (DOE). The role covers 37.5 hours per week. Two days per week working in our charity office at Royal Brompton Hospital - London, and the remaining hours to be worked remotely. Occasional evening and weekend work subject to our events calendar. Exact working pattern to be discussed at the interview stage.

One-year fixed term contract with the potential to extend contract length subject to performance and funding.

A full driving licence or the ability to travel to events and meetings within London and the South East is essential.
