About the role:

We’re looking for a Research Engagement Officer to support and coordinate our Cancer Clinical Research Groups—formerly the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) Research Groups. This is a unique opportunity to play a central role in shaping practice-changing cancer research across the UK in living with and beyond cancer, palliative and end of life care and radiotherapy.

The Role

What will I be doing?

• Managing a portfolio of public engagement events, including the delivery of the summer exhibition in Dublin each year and public engagement events across NI, Scotland and Wales
• Working with colleagues from across the organisation, particularly those in the Membership and National teams to support member led or member involved approaches to public engagement, with members supported and enabled to deliver appropriate activities that impactfully contribute to the IOP’s strategic goals.
• Support the development of public engagement content that demonstrates the value of physics and its applications to our lives and the full range of career and education pathways that can be accessed through doing physics
• Support the evaluation of Public Engagement Events to ensure the ongoing improvement pf our programme

Please note that this role will require significant travel around the UK and Ireland to deliver its remit. We particularly welcome applications from outside London and the South East of England with this in mind.

Projects you work on may include:

• Managing events and activities across the UK and Ireland that connect families with physics
• Developing new, novel and exciting resources that convey the relevance of physics to our daily lives
• Supporting IOP Members and physicists more broadly to be relatable role models for young people and to tell their stories in engaging ways

• A proven track record of delivering excellence in public engagement with science and physics in particular, particularly with families

• A degree in physics/science related/astronomy

Working as part of a dynamic and cross-functional fundraising team, this role leads on the planning, execution and scaling of original event products — from large-scale mass participation experiences like the St Thomas’ Abseil, to creative, insight-driven virtual campaigns and supporter-led challenges. Work environment

• The post holder should expect to:

• Work in a hybrid hot desk environment, generally working 2 days a week in the London office and three from home.

Barnardo's are seeking an experienced and passionate Challenge Events fundraiser to take up a fixed term contract as our Senior Challenge and Virtual Events Manager.  This is a full time position but we would consider part time candidates too.

The Challenge Events lead plays a critical role within the fundraising team, combining strategic oversight with a hands-on commitment to delivery excellence. Key Responsibilities

• Independently lead the planning, delivery, and evaluation of a portfolio of flagship challenge events — including the London Marathon, London Landmarks Half, Brighton Marathon, Ultra Challenges and other third-party partnerships — ensuring a high standard of execution and supporter experience.

Work environment

• The post holder should expect to:

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Youth Participation Officer

Fitzrovia Youth in Action is looking for an experienced, passionate and enthusiastic person for our Youth Participation Officer role. If you feel like this is you, we would love to hear from you!

The post holder will manage and develop youth-led community projects in which young people develop their leadership and employability skills through becoming actively involved in their community and participating in self-directed community action. The successful candidate will oversee the development and delivery of several youth-led community projects, primarily the organisation of youth-led community events, but might also include elements of other youth-led activities, such as youth action team, health champions and ambassadors. 

For example, typically, this would involve working with groups of around 10 young people in each cohort and support them to deliver their community event project over a 12-week period.  Examples of events include youth-led football tournaments, street parties and our community Christmas dinner. Responsibilities

Event content development

• Lead the content development and planning of your events programme across our themes, this includes:

• Book travel and accommodation for external speakers (and VIP attendees); attend any related invoices and ensure prompt payment of the same.
• Book venues and prepare rooms for conferences, seminars, and all other Research Centre events, e.g. arrange furniture, set up refreshments.
• Arrange, as necessary, all IT and AV support for events, including speaker and participant digital access for online events, facilitating practice sessions, and any livestreams and recording of events.
• Work at evening events (outside office hours) at the organisation or events hosted at external locations, as required (agreed in advance).
• Provide technical support at digital events, including setting up hybrid planning meetings between internal and external colleagues.
• Coordinate with AV/Digital event recordings for archive and/or release to participants and the general public.
• Maintain the contacts/networks database as it relates to event attendees, speakers etc.

Communications and Advertising:

• Produce event copy, as required, for the website, e-newsletter for research networks, etc.
• Liaise with the Digital Team over online event pages on the website and over the booking system; monitor event bookings.
• Ensure that the web information about the Research Centre remains current; liaise with the Digital Team about web content.
• Maintain and develop the email list of subscribers to events mailings and to the newsletter.
• Co-ordinate the regular research email newsletter; liaise with content providers for the newsletter; produce event copy, as required, for e-newsletters for research networks, etc.
• Work with Digital and Creative Teams to create event templates for invitations that match the brand, the research theme and audience of the given event.
• Work to promote upcoming research events using internal and external advertising platforms, as appropriate.

Research Centre Administration:

• Provide front-of-house support to the Research Centre, as necessary.
• Attend and take and circulate notes, as required, at relevant committees/working groups for research.
• Work with Senior Research Lead and Research Centre Manager to carry out administration related to research projects, including assisting with budgets, processing invoices, securing image rights, publishing web content, liaising with external collaborators and visiting fellows, booking travel and accommodation and providing administration for all research project activities.

Key Required Skills

• Substantial experience of event management to coordinate projects and events, ideally within a large, multipart organisation.
• Ability to develop and manage detailed project timelines and workflows.
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
• Excellent organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail (e.g. creating travel itineraries; making bookings; taking minutes of meetings; maintaining calendars and room booking systems).
• Proven track record in numeracy and financial data-handling experience; experience maintaining and managing information on a relational database.

About CoppaFeel!

CoppaFeel! are the UK’s only youth focused breast cancer awareness charity, and we’re on a mission to get every 18-24 year old checking their chest. We educate people on the signs of breast cancer and encourage them to check their chests monthly, so that if they notice something unusual they are empowered to contact their GP and advocate for themselves.

We do this because when diagnosed early, breast cancer treatments are more effective and survival rates are higher. Early detection can save lives.

The Role

CoppaFeel! is looking for a Programmes Officer to support the growth and development of our regional service delivery over the next 18 months.

The Programmes Officer will play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of a portfolio of activities to strengthen CoppaFeel!s awareness raising work at a regional level, helping us to engage more young people across the UK through volunteer activities and localised service delivery.

This is a fixed term position and a busy role with broad responsibilities including project co-ordination and administration. You will sit within the Education team and report to the Senior Programmes Manager.

This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that you will attend the London office 2 days per week. You will also be required to attend the office for quarterly team meetings, department meetings, and in-person training. We will provide plenty of notice for when you are required to be in for these purposes. 

Due to the nature of the role you will also be expected to provide occasional support with delivery and events in targeted regions throughout the UK. There may be occasional weekend / out of hours working for which you will be awarded TOIL.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide support and assistance to the Senior Programmes Manager to ensure the successful implementation and operation of regional projects.
• Provide administrative support, facilitating communication between key stakeholders and acting as the key contact for enquiries.
• Attend programme and stakeholder meetings to share updates and gather feedback.
• Assist with the set up and operational delivery of collaborative services, coordinating activities, resources and timelines in line with agreed delivery plans.
• Attend in person events and activities to support staff, volunteers and community partners.
• Represent CoppaFeel! at events, promoting and communicating our awareness message.
• Deliver awareness talks and presentations of our key messaging to support regional interventions.
• Liaise with colleagues in other departments to ensure services offered are targeted appropriately and to support a collaborative approach to delivering regional programmes.
• Work with the Senior Programmes Manager to identify opportunities to deliver our work in localised settings.
• Collaborate with the digital team to promote and celebrate regional work through CoppaFeel!s digital channels.
• Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including regional partners, healthcare professionals, volunteers, and community groups.
• Support the Senior Programmes Manager to monitor the effectiveness and impact of regional programmes by gathering, collating and reporting data to track project progress.
• Maintain records on activities delivered and update stakeholder records using our CRM database.
• Work with the Engagement and Inclusion team to ensure services delivered are inclusive, accessible, and are informed by meaningful engagement with young people.
