Job description
Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire

If you are a high calibre leader with experience of working in a supported housing project, this is an amazing opportunity to take the helm of a forward-thinking organisation that is changing lives.

About Us

Welwyn Hatfield Women's Refuge and Support Services (WHWR) is a vital resource for women and families in Welwyn Garden City and Hatfield, offering a safe haven away from domestic violence and abuse.

We provide ensuite bedrooms to women and children for up to four months at a time to enable a break from their situation or to allow them to start building a new life away from an abusive or violent relationship or home environment.

Our refuge is a private, secure women and children only space. We collect residents from an agreed location and bring them to the refuge to ensure that abusive partners or family members cannot know where they are. Once safe, we provide accommodation, practical and emotional support and help with benefits, schooling and even healthcare to make sure that our residents view their time with us as positive and affirming.

We are currently looking for a CEO to lead our organisation and ensure that we continue to provide exceptional services to those who need us.

The Benefits

- Salary of £32,878 per annum
- Oversee services that are making a huge difference to the lives of women and children
- Supportive and welcoming environment
- Lead and develop an engaged team who are passionate about what they do

You will have the opportunity to influence the future of our organisation and ensure that we’re able to empower and support victims of domestic violence for as long as we are needed.

Women from all cultures, races, classes, sexualities, ages and levels of ability experience domestic violence and abuse. We are committed to ensuring that they can live safe, equal lives that are free of violence - if you can help us achieve our vision, we’d love to hear from you.

As our CEO, you will oversee the management and co-ordination of our services, ensuring that we provide exceptional support to families experiencing domestic violence.

In this important role, you will lead, inspire and support staff and volunteers to perform to the best of their ability and deliver services in line with good practice guidelines and legislation.

You will ensure that we continue to provide a haven for women and children in need and build partnerships with external agencies to effectively respond to domestic violence issues.

Reporting to the Board, you will:

- Take responsibility for the day-to-day financial management of the organisation
- Negotiate new agreements and contracts for our services and facilities
- Assist the Board of Trustees to manage finances on a strategic level
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement

- Working in a supported housing project
- Organisational leadership and line managing staff

You will also require a degree or professional qualification in a relevant discipline (or equivalent experience) and a full driving licence and access to your own vehicle.

Please note, it is WHWR’s policy that applicants should have objective distance in their work and not have been service users of WHWR or other domestic abuse services within the five years prior to their application.
