The Advice Services Alliance (ASA) is the umbrella body for the not-for-profit social welfare advice sector in the UK. Our members include national organisations such as Citizens Advice, Age UK, Law Centres Network, Macmillan, and Shelter. Together, our network represents around 2,000 advice outlets across England and Wales.
We exist to champion access to justice by strengthening the advice sector. We do this by promoting collaboration, developing quality standards, influencing policy, and leading sector-wide projects that support the delivery of high-quality, accessible advice.
ASA also owns and manages the Advice Quality Standard (AQS), the only independently audited quality mark designed specifically for providers of generalist and specialist social welfare legal advice services.

The Role
We are seeking a highly capable and motivated Deputy Director to lead our quality assurance work and play a central role in shaping and delivering cross-sector projects. You will oversee the management and strategic development of the Advice Quality Standard (AQS) and collaborate closely with the Director on broader organisational and policy initiatives.
You’ll represent ASA at external stakeholder meetings, manage contracts and project teams, and act as a senior leader within a small and dynamic team that is passionate about access to justice and social welfare.
Key Responsibilities

Lead on the delivery of the Advice Quality Standard, ensuring its integrity and independence as a sector-wide benchmark.

Manage and deliver strategic projects aligned with ASA’s business plan and broader goals.

Represent ASA at external meetings, consultations, and strategic discussions with stakeholders.

About the role
Working in close collaboration with the Senior Mass Fundraising Lead, the role will manage and deliver a variety of community-led fundraising initiatives and dynamic challenge events that engage supporters and generate vital unrestricted funds for children affected by neuroblastoma.
The role focuses on building strong relationships with fundraisers, volunteers and ambassadors, providing guidance, support and motivation to help them surpass their fundraising goals. The Community and Challenge Events Fundraising Manager will both steward existing and reactive contacts, as well as be confident in securing new networks, including representing the charity in presentations and other public speaking opportunities.
This role comes at an exciting time of growth in the fundraising team, with new colleagues joining the charity and a team focused on growth of income over the coming years. This role is crucial in this plan and will take the existing community and events programme to new heights.

You’ll play a central leadership role in building national awareness and expanding our supporter base through powerful media campaigns.
Reporting to the Head of Communications and working in conjunction with our Director of Fundraising, you’ll spearhead the development and delivery of high-impact, multi-channel campaigns across TV, print, digital, and Out of Home advertising. You’ll have the creative freedom to bring your vision to life — and the platform to shape how our brand connects with people across the UK.

The salary for this position will be between £48,000.00 - £58,000.00 per annum depending on experience. This is a full-time post at 36 hours per week and will be offered on a permanent basis. We understand the importance of offering our staff flexibility, we can therefore offer part time hours from 0.8 FTE. Alternatively, we can offer compressed hours to suit your personal circumstances.
We value spending time working in-person to develop strong connections with each other and with our mission, so you will be based at our central London office for a minimum of three days a week (usually Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday) with the option to work remotely for the remainder.

FINANCE MANAGER (Part-Time)
Location: Hybrid – 1 day a week in North West London office

A dynamic and mission-driven arts and education charity is looking for a Finance Manager to oversee day-to-day financial operations, reporting, and compliance. This is a broad and varied role, ideal for someone who thrives in a small team environment and enjoys working across multiple areas of finance, from budgeting and planning to bookkeeping and audit support.
You’ll report to the Executive Director and play a key role in ensuring financial sustainability and robust financial processes as the organisation continues to grow.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage day-to-day finances including income, expenditure, invoicing, payroll and banking
- Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts and forecasts
- Support budget setting and financial planning
- Lead on year-end accounts, audit preparation, and liaison with external auditors
- Ensure compliance with Charity Commission and Companies House requirements
- Maintain financial systems (currently QuickBooks) and oversee financial policies
- Work closely with the Executive Director and Board to provide financial insights and updates
ABOUT YOU
- Experience in a similar finance role, ideally a blend of commercial and charity experience.
- Strong understanding of charity finance regulations and reporting
- Proficiency with QuickBooks or similar accounting software
- Excellent financial analysis and reporting skills
