Due to the breadth of the role and the variety of the projects, you can expect it to be an exciting role, with no two days the same.
With the additional investment in community sports facilities, we have a great deal to get done, but how we do it matters too. We’re striving to be an inclusive and diverse organisation which reflects the diverse communities, users and beneficiaries of our work and the outcomes we deliver. Becoming part of the Football Foundation team will give you the chance to deliver a positive impact in every community in England; to help transform lives and communities through great places to play; and to be part of a supportive and inclusive staff team that works hard and plays fair to achieve its goals.
What are we looking for?
We’d love to hear from you if you have extensive experience in a similar role in project management, marketing or communications, with experience supporting the delivery of campaigns and measuring their impact. You’ll be knowledgeable and up to date on industry trends, with an understanding of how to use marketing techniques to increase the visibility, profile, and reputation of an organisation.
You’ll be organised, flexible, able to manage competing demands, and be confident managing a diverse portfolio of projects. You’ll also have strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with a broad range of people.
You don’t need to follow football to apply, but you should appreciate the power of sport to change lives and have a genuine interest in using your skills and experience to help the Foundation achieve our charitable and strategic objectives.

What can we offer you?

We also offer a generous pension scheme (8% employer contribution), collective bonus scheme, free health care provision, a monthly gym subsidy, interest-free season ticket loan, death in service benefit and access to selected match tickets.
We are committed to helping our team members maintain a healthy work-life balance, so offer hybrid working and flexible working around core hours to help achieve that.
Equality and Diversity Commitment
The Football Foundation is committed to, and values the principles of diversity, equality and inclusion. We strive to provide an inclusive and supportive working environment where all our team feel respected and supported in fulfilling their potential. Streatham Youth and Community Trust (SYCT) is seeking an experienced Interim CEO to navigate the organisation through a critical period of transition. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in turnaround management within the charitable sector, capable of implementing strategic and operational changes to address systemic issues and rebuild organisational strength and sustainability, while stabilising the relationship with the wider community.
SYCT is currently facing significant financial and operational challenges. In this context, the board and the newly appointed CEO have had to make a number of difficult but necessary decisions. The recent closure of the charity-run nursery due to a combination of quality and financial viability concerns has resulted in a significant amount of noise. As a result, she has decided that she is not the right person to lead the turnaround efforts. She will stay in post until 28th June 2024 if needed, but is happy to step back after a brief handover as soon as a suitable Interim CEO can start in the role.
Top priorities for the Interim CEO will be leading the organisation through a period of restructuring, focusing on rebuilding core services, stakeholder relationships, processes and systems; and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including health and safety standards and HR protocols.
Key details:
- Role: Interim CEO at Streatham Youth and Community Trust
- Salary: c.£75,000 per annum, pro rata.
- Start date: immediate / asap, at latest by mid-June
- Contract:
· This is a nine-month interim position with the strong possibility of extension to twelve months based on organisational needs.
· This is a full-time role, with 4+ days per week to be spent on SYCT’s sites around Streatham. For highly experienced candidates, the role could be considered on a pat time basis (4 days per week), and/or with 3 days spent on site.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Proven experience as a CEO or senior executive in a turnaround management capacity, preferably within the charitable sector.
- Track record of establishing effective policies, processes and systems within an organisation.
- Strong financial acumen and experience in financial restructuring and budgetary management.
- Demonstrable leadership skills with a track record of leading organisations and teams through significant organisational and cultural change.
- Sound understanding of governance, compliance, and risk management principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels, to include experience of overseeing effective social media and community engagement campaigns.
