We have an exciting new opportunity to join us as our Head of Communications and be a driving force in making that shift by creatively leading strategic communications and campaigns.

You will also play an important role by working with an external agency on the development of a new legacy proposition and supporting materials, as well as working on internal legacy promotions and staff training.

In this role you will lead our media, social media, campaigns and engagement functions, as well as project teams across the charity. You'll grow our engagement with diverse audiences and support them to take action towards ambitious campaign goals.

We are based in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, so we are easily accessible by road and rail. In this role there is plenty of scope for working from home, although there will be occasions when you will need to attend  directorate days and face to face meetings. We are seeking an experienced, strategic and collaborative Head of Communications and External Engagement to join our Senior Leadership Team and play a pivotal role in shaping Martingale’s external profile, strategic partnerships, and policy influence.

As Head of Communications and External Engagement, you will join our growing senior management team, overseeing several critical aspects of Martingale’s work: communications and recruitment; partnerships and fundraising; and policy and advocacy. Working closely with the CEO, you will oversee all aspect of Martingale’s external communications and engagement to ensure Martingale’s success.

About the role

Development Group generates philanthropic and sponsorship income to help us create a Natural History Museum for the future – investing in capital development, attaining vital acquisitions for the collection, transforming our galleries, developing innovative exhibitions and undertaking ground-breaking scientific research on issues that affect us all.

The Museum is looking for an ambitious and self-motivated individual for the role of Philanthropy Executive. Working alongside an approachable and highly successful Philanthropy team, reporting into the Patrons Manager, the role will support the team in the Patrons and High-net-worth individual (HNWI) income streams, as well as managing your own portfolio of HNWIs. You will focus on the administration and stewardship of the Patrons Circle and supporting the HNWI wider team with donor stewardship. Alongside this, you will have your own portfolio of 5-figure funders and prospects and maintain a high level of organisation and excellent communication to build both internal relationships and external relationships with donors and prospects.

You will work closely with colleagues in the Philanthropy team and wider Development Group across varied income streams whilst also building successful working relationships with colleagues at all levels across the Museum. The role will be line-managed by the Patrons Manager with guidance from the Philanthropy Manager (HNWI) and Senior Philanthropy Manager.

Working closely with the Advocacy & Communications Manager and the CEO, you'll bring creative skills and strategic thinking to communications, ensuring JABBS' work and partnerships are visible, engaging and impactful.

In this role you can expect to:

This is a great opportunity to join the UK Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF UK) as a valued Ambassador Relations Executive ensuring the team’s Ambassador Programme and its admin systems and records are kept accurately and to a high standard. You will assist the team on some of our high level public activations with our Ambassadors and High Profile Supporters, delivering towards organisational priorities. This role will require close monitoring of social media platforms regarding UNICEF UK Ambassadors’ outputs, as well as lead on the production of digital impact reports. You will be supporting the delivery of priority projects working closely with wider internal teams. The post holder will be required to keep our dedicated web pages up to date and deliver our quarterly e-newsletters.

We are looking for a creative, driven, compassionate, Communications Lead to develop, lead, and implement an integrated communications strategy that supports our ambition to double the number of adults learning to read with Read Easy UK by the end of our current strategy.

As a strong communications generalist, with strategic and operational expertise, the Communications Lead will work closely with employees, volunteers and other key stakeholders to strengthen the charity’s national brand and position. This role covers all aspects of communications including media relations, digital communications, brand communications, stakeholder and internal communications.

The post holder will shape and deliver communications activity that inspires, informs, and engages our key audiences, including volunteers, potential Readers, funders, the media, and partners across the UK.

The successful candidate will be strategic and agile and will enjoy shaping strategy alongside delivering communications activity. This is a standalone role, leading and delivering internal and external communications for the organisation in collaboration with other key partners.

Location: Fully Remote/Home-based with very occasional travel to regional groups as required and for up to 3 team meetings per annum (currently held in Birmingham).

Reports to: Read Easy UK CEO.
