For more than 33 years, Refugee Support Group (RSG) has stood alongside refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants across Berkshire.

Leading RSG

Lived experience or prior experience of working closely with refugee and migrant communities is welcomed, but not essential. What is essential is that you will be passionate about supporting refugees and that you are driven by a deep belief in inclusion, justice and human dignity.

Core Purpose
This leadership role is part of the Make-A-Wish UK Extended Leadership Team (ExLT) and is responsible for shaping and driving Make-A-Wish UK’s brand, communications and entertainment strategy. Ensuring the charity is powerfully positioned in the hearts and minds of the public as an organisation to support and donate to.
Leading a team of expert communications, content and digital specialists, the role will champion a strategic and scalable approach to brand, content, and communications. It will ensure our messaging cuts through across all internal and external touchpoints, consistently reflecting our mission to grant a wish for every eligible child.
The Head of Brand, Communications and Entertainment will also oversee the strategic development of key entertainment relationships, including celebrity talent, influencers, media partners, and broadcasters, to amplify our brand presence and support wider organisational objectives.
As a key member of the ExLT, this role will collaborate across departments to strengthen Make-A-Wish UK’s profile, build meaningful connections with stakeholders, and inspire audiences to engage with and support our cause.
Essential Criteria
- Proven experience (5+ years) within senior level brand role including Head of Department or communications/strategy roles, ideally within the charity or not for profit sector.
- Demonstrated success in developing and delivering integrated communications strategies that drive awareness, engagement, and support.
- Proven experience leading organisations through change and successfully embedding new delivery models to improve impact, efficiency, or engagement
- Knowledge of how to develop a consistent brand voice and style.
- Ability to conduct market research, competitive analyses and research on potential target audiences.
- Strong understanding of digital communications, including social media, email marketing, and website content strategy.

Communications Strategy
- Develop and deliver a communications strategy that builds public awareness, deepens understanding of our mission, and inspires support.

- Lead on providing expert guidance to teams on integrated communications planning and execution, ensuring alignment across all public-facing activity.

- Oversee the integration of digital marketing to support fundraising, awareness, and community building,
- Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, influencers, and partners to maximise positive exposure and advocacy.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Provide inspiring leadership and development for the Brand, Communications & Entertainment team, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing culture.
- Support and role-model cross-functional collaboration, ensuring communications activity aligns with organisational priorities and supports other teams effectively.
- Represent Brand, Communication and Entertainment at the Extended Leadership Team (ExLT), contributing to cross-charity strategy, insight sharing and project delivery.
- Represent Make-A-Wish UK and nurture key relationships as required.
Measurement & Insight
- Work with the Head of Insights and Innovation to develop and apply insights to inform strategic planning.
- Define and track key performance indicators to assess the effectiveness of brand and communications activity, presenting to the senior Leadership Team and Board as required.
- Capture and report on data and learnings, embedding continuous improvement and sharing best practice across the organisation.

Job Purpose

Like many UK charities, Opportunity International has faced a challenging few years. Shifts in government funding, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, and periods of leadership transition have all affected our income since 2018. Yet, out of this challenge comes great opportunity. We are now entering an exciting phase of renewal — revitalising our brand, re-energising our supporter base, and reimagining how we engage with donors.
Historically, our private income has been driven by generous major donors, and while this will continue to be a core pillar, our strategy is focused on diversification and long-term sustainability. In the short term, we’re deepening our relationships with trusts and foundations and growing our individual giving, particularly through digital channels. Looking ahead, we plan to strengthen our legacy programme and build meaningful corporate partnerships. With our refreshed brand and vibrant new visual identity, we’re well-positioned to reach new audiences and inspire fresh support. Our Royal Patron and emerging ambassadors will help us to do this.
The successful candidate will have the exciting opportunity to help shape our organisational strategy for the next 3–5 years (to be finalised in early 2026) and to lead the design and delivery of a dynamic fundraising and communications strategy. A major appeal or capital campaign is expected to be a cornerstone of this work.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Executive Support to CEO:

- Act as the primary liaison between the CEO and the Group Head of Governance, ensuring all governance-related matters are effectively managed by having weekly check ins with both the Chief Executive and Group Head of Governance, and keeping the Director of People, Culture & Governance informed about pertinent matters.
- Coordinate the preparation and distribution of governance papers and briefing documents for the CEO.
- Ensure timely submission of board and committee papers, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Support the CEO in governance-related activities, including regulatory compliance and strategic planning discussions.
- Work closely with the CEO, Director of Finance and Operations, and Property Consultant on property-related matters.
- Act as secretariat for relevant property committees including meeting scheduling, minute taking and tracking actions.
Business Support:
- Lead the induction of new Business Support team members, ensuring consistency in approach.
- Hold regular meetings with the Business Support team, inviting feedback and implementing improvements.
- Lead meetings with Business Support staff to share best practices and resolve operational challenges.

Person Specification:

With an ambitious strategy, we need a strong leader to work alongside the CEO and leadership team who can streamline operations and coordinate key business functions. Successful applicants will have previous experience providing executive support at a senior level with excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
You should have a sound understanding of governance processes, including board and committee administration, be an excellent communicator with the ability to draft high-quality correspondence. You’ll consistently review KPIs and make evidence-based choices to help assist with growing the programme and delivering our overall financial target.
What we want from you
We’re looking for a Direct Marketing Executive who has excellent knowledge and experience of working in a fundraising environment is vital, you’ll also be able to demonstrate your knowledge and/or experience of stewarding donors by understanding the importance of meeting their needs.
You’ll possess first class communication skills; a strong team ethic and you will be at ease working with key internal and external stakeholders at all levels. The ability to manage expenditure budgets and projects is also essential, along with proven knowledge of data protection and sector compliance. Knowledge of direct marketing and fundraising law would be advantageous as well as philanthropy experience.

What the job involves
We’re looking for a creative and motivated account management professional to join our team at an incredibly exciting time for Prostate Cancer UK. You’ll be responsible for managing some of Prostate Cancer UK’s flagship charity partnerships.
The Partnerships Executive handles the management and development of Prostate Cancer UK’s strategic partnerships. You’ll be able to drive impact and value for both the charity and partners.
You’ll be working closely with key stakeholders to raise awareness amongst local communities across the UK and raise funds to invest into better treatments for men with prostate cancer. This role offers the chance to build strong and effective relationships both internally and externally and ensure that each partnership meets its goals. It will be necessary to show a diligent approach to partnership management as well as identify opportunities for growth. You’ll also be providing administrative support to the partnerships team including review of processes and ownership of monthly / quarterly reporting.
This is a six-month fixed term contract covering internal secondment within the team.
