Alder Hey Children’s Charity raises vital funds to help make Alder Hey Children’s Hospital a truly world-class, patient-friendly hospital for the 450,000 patients and families we care for every year.
The charity helps to fund a range of activities and projects that are designed to enhance and improve the lives of our amazing young patients. This includes the funding of specialist medical equipment to ensure our brilliant surgeons and clinical staff have the most up to date and cutting-edge technology available and funding hi-tech distraction equipment designed and proven to reduce pain and anxiety in our patients. We also fund a range of programmes and special projects such as our ward musicians, our on-site magician and the play specialists we have on every ward.
About this role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing Philanthropy Team in a brand-new role that will play a key part in securing transformational funding for Alder Hey Children's Charity.
As Bid Writer, you will lead on the development of compelling, high-quality funding applications to large-scale national grant programmes and, over time, statutory funding bodies. Collaborating across the Charity and the hospital, you will translate complex clinical, research and capital projects into persuasive, evidence-led cases for support that inspire investment in the future of children's healthcare.
This is a varied and rewarding role for someone who enjoys writing, research and building relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. You'll bring together ideas, evidence and expertise to shape ambitious projects into funder-ready proposals with the potential to make a lasting difference for children and families.
We're looking for an excellent communicator with outstanding writing skills, exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Whether you're an experienced bid writer or bring transferable experience developing funding proposals, this is an opportunity to make a real impact as part of an ambitious and growing fundraising team.
Key responsibilities will include:
Bid Development & Writing

Lead the development and writing of high-quality funding applications to national grant programmes and, over time, statutory funding opportunities.

Produce compelling, tailored funding applications that clearly demonstrate need, impact and outcomes.

Manage a varied pipeline of funding applications, ensuring multiple deadlines are delivered to a consistently high standard.
Research & Opportunity Development

Research and identify new funding opportunities that align with the Charity's strategic priorities.

Develop and maintain a proactive pipeline of opportunities, working closely with colleagues across the Charity.
Collaboration & Project Development

Work with clinicians and charity colleagues to gather information and develop strong funding propositions.

Translate complex clinical and technical information into accessible, engaging and persuasive cases for support.
Quality & Continuous Improvement

Ensure applications meet funder guidance and eligibility criteria

Maintain accurate records of applications and outcomes using the charity CRM.

Contribute to the continuous improvement of bid writing processes, templates and resources across the team.

Additional Information
In April 2025, the charity adopted a four-day working week policy. Staff previously working 37.5 hours now work 30 hours across four days, maintaining full pay while supporting a better work-life balance.

For almost 30 years Panathlon Foundation has created opportunities through inclusive sport for disabled and disadvantaged young people. Demand for our work continues to grow and we're looking for an outstanding Head of Fundraising to help us create opportunities for even more young people. Role Purpose
To lead Panathlon Foundation's fundraising strategy, securing sustainable income through trusts, foundations, corporate partnerships, individual giving, philanthropy, fundraising events and supporter engagement.
Working closely with the Chief Executive, Trustees and Strategic Leads, the Head of Fundraising will develop the relationships, opportunities and fundraising culture that enable Panathlon to reach more disabled and disadvantaged young people through inclusive sport.

Working to support the Executive Director and the fundraising team, we are looking for a highly motivated, organised person with excellent inter-personal skills and the ability to take initiative to optimise our planned fundraising activities over the next few months to enable us to raise vital funds and grow our funding networks.
The role is to focus on three key fundraising events, an art auction in autumn, our Big Give Campaign in December and a speaker event at the beginning of 2027 to kick off our 30-year celebrations.
Key responsibilities:
- Organise the logistics of the art auction including setting up online bidding and the in-person auction event liaising with the artists, creating the brochure and overseeing the photography
- Oversee and implement all publicity around the auction including PR and social media campaigns
- For the in-person auction, establish and manage the guest list and venue liaison
- Support the Big Give Campaign liaising with potential and pledged donors, identifying opportunities for new donor support and the supporting communications campaign
- Work with the Development Board to set up and organise a speaker-based event for Q1 of 2027 to ensure a well-attended, professional event in line with our organisational goals and policies
- Be the point of contact with the Development Board and the fundraising team
We are looking for someone who is:
- Highly organised with excellent project and time management skills
- A confident team player who thrives in a busy, creative environment working within a multi-talented, multi-disciplined team
- An exceptional communicator, who a passionate about the projects and has strong relationship building abilities
- A highly skilled writer with highly tuned story-telling strengths able to identify the audience and get the message across clearly, concisely and effectively
- Proactive with a results-driven focus
- Flexible and willing to work on very occasional weekday evenings to support events
- At least five years’ experience in fundraising including experience running events and with running Appeals with donor-match giving

Fine Cell Work delivers a proven, scalable model of rehabilitation by giving people in prison and post-release high-quality textile skills, combining paid work, creative engagement, and structured support to enable long-term desistance from crime.
As a charity working in criminal justice since 1997, Fine Cell Work has supported nearly 9,000 people in prison.
By providing purposeful activity, we address some of the most pressing challenges within the prison system—mental ill-health, lack of opportunity, and high rates of reoffending. Creative activity and the arts reduce reoffending because they change how people think, feel, and behave in ways that traditional prison programmes often can’t reach. We deliver a proven model of rehabilitation through high-quality needlework classes delivered in prison by committed volunteers. Prisoners produce beautiful, hand-stitched products, gaining both financial independence and a sense of pride.
Our vision is for prisoners and prison leavers to rebuild meaningful, independent, crime-free lives.
