Home-Start Portsmouth is a local family support charity based in Portsmouth, providing outreach services, free Stay & Play groups and working within the Portsmouth Family hubs as part of the Best Start in Life offer in the city. Portsmouth is one of the most deprived cities in the country, and many of the families we support are living with many adversities.

We are a volunteer led service providing parents and carers with the support and guidance they need to ensure the best possible outcomes for their children and their family. We empower families to thrive by providing child-centered family support and in 2025 we supported 1000 unique families across our 12 projects with the support from our 110 volunteers.

Our impact is measured and significant for the families we support and as a result, children will experience improved wellbeing and development. Our focus is to build a compassionate community of support for families, parents and children – because childhood can’t wait.

We are at a pivotal moment in the journey of Home-Start Portsmouth. After 25 years of exceptional service, our current CEO is stepping down, marking the end of an era and the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the charity. Over the past few years, we have grown to more than three times our original size, expanding our reach, services, and impact across the community.

Rising levels of need, increasing pressure on family services, and evolving external factors mean that demand for our support is growing. Role Purpose  

To provide inspirational, and strategic leadership to Home-Start Portsmouth (HSP), ensuring the charity delivers on its mission that no parent is unsupported in raising children and giving them the best start in life. The CEO is accountable for organisational performance, culture, sustainability, safeguarding, and impact, working in close partnership with the Board of Trustees.

Main Responsibilities 

1. Strategic & Executive Leadership 

• Lead the development, delivery and review of HSP’s vision, strategy and long-term business plan in partnership with the Board.

Power2 is a fast growing and energetic children and young people's charity that has supported 27,000 young people since 2001. We are based in the North West of England and London and deliver early-intervention asset-based programmes to children and young people who have mental wellbeing challenges and are disengaged from school and more widely. We are looking for new Programme Leads to deliver our programmes so that all children and young people, regardless of their needs, feel they belong and can prosper.

Our new Programme Leads will be trained to deliver all our programmes and will primarily work in schools to support young people, their families, and school staff to ensure that at-risk pupils make the most of their education and improve their life chances. Work will include 1:1 support based in a school or in the community and delivery of Power2’s group programmes. The successful candidates could be based in one school or travel between multiple schools.

The relationships you cultivate with the young people you work with are at the heart of our success – so recruiting the right people is paramount. Our facilitators work with significant autonomy and authority and must embrace responsibility and be accountable for their work. They work collaboratively alongside young people, operating as a mentor as they empower young people to develop self-esteem, become resilient and engage with school and their own future. They give each young person the time, the confidence and skills to engage with their education and their future life plans.

This is a senior leadership role managing our two flagship frontline services - Antifreeze and Gateway. You will lead 6-8 key workers and 30+ volunteers across two sites, overseeing day centre operations, street outreach, one-to-one keywork, group activities, and strategic initiatives.

As a member of the senior leadership team, you'll shape trauma-informed, dignity-centred services whilst contributing to our longer-term vision of tackling root causes of poverty.  You will develop our services to be ready for new initiatives around housing and community-based support.  In addition, you will have the role of Deputy Safeguarding Lead for the wider organisation.

Whether through restorative care, discipleship sessions, or access to external services, women supported can step into a future of stability, community, and hope. 

The Antifreeze Programme exists to break the cycle of social and spiritual poverty amidst homelessness, providing tangible steps towards a permanent home and long-term stability. Since 1998, Antifreeze has been a safe and warm space for members, offering faith-based, practical support services that restore dignity and hope. At our Day Centre, we provide hygiene facilities (showers & laundry), medical drop-ins, and essential survival provisions to meet immediate needs. Through 1-to-1 sessions, we support members with housing applications, benefits, and financial stability, while goal-based workshops equip them with skills to attain permanent homes and ethical employment. Our discipleship sessions encourage an advanced understanding of the Christian faith, offering fellowship and spiritual growth. To address digital poverty, we offer computer access for job searches and reconnecting with loved ones.

Beyond practical support, Antifreeze fosters healthy community relationships, improves mental health awareness, and helps members move toward ethical employment, reduced reliance on substances, and a forever home.

Main duties

Operational Management

• Oversee daily delivery of day centre, street outreach, keywork, and activities
• Manage £300k budget across both programmes
• Ensure safe staffing ratios through effective workforce planning
• Maintain compliance with H&S, safeguarding, GDPR, and quality standards
• Design and deliver projects aligned with fundraised income

Strategic Leadership

• Establish and drive a strategic vision for both programmes aligned with the Housing First approach
• Lead evidence-based service design informed by client needs and best practice
• Represent OTF at city-wide forums; build partnerships with local authorities and commissioners
• Hold budget responsibility of £300k ensuring financial sustainability
• Provide monthly KPI reports to senior leadership, Board, and funders

Team Leadership

Events and Partnerships Manager
Salary: £34,405.00 per annum
Contract: Permanent
Work Pattern: Working full time, Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours a week
Location: WWT Slimbridge, GL2 with some flexibility. Minimum of 2-3 days a week + travel

About The Role

Events are a key component in our visitors’ experience at a WWT site and we have big ambitions to develop and deliver an even stronger calendar of innovative events in 2026 and beyond.

Working with the Head of Interpretation and Programming and the Centre Managers, you will lead on the development of new seasonal events, from ideation and concept stage to multi-site implementation, with the objective of driving new and repeat visitation. You will be responsible for the creation of bespoke ‘home-grown’ events as well as developing partnerships with external organisations that deliver licensed content for branded events.

This is a permanent contract, working full time, Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours a week.

The role will be based at our Slimbridge HQ offices a minimum of 2-3 days a week. It is expected that the role will need you to be present at each of our sites on a regular basis.

About You

You will have good experience in planning and delivering events in a multi-site organisation. You will be passionate about nature and conservation with the desire and ability to create both home-grown and partner-based events that connect and engage our visitors with the Superpowers of Wetlands

Church Engagement and Marketing Officer

Church Urban Fund has a proud history of being good news within our low-income communities across England. We partner with churches, social action charities and different faith communities to end poverty together.

For almost 40 years, Church Urban Fund has been enabling and supporting mission and ministry amongst the lowest income communities. This newly created role seeks to help us resource churches across England, so that we can achieve our vision of ending poverty and doing this together.  The successful postholder will be key in helping develop new resources that sit alongside our very successful Growing Good resource and form part of our expanding Knowledge Bank that enables churches to have the knowledge, confidence and connection to engage with social action as a core part of their mission and serve their local communities.  This role will also be influential in helping plan and deliver our increasingly popular and well attended webinars and in person events.

A position has arisen at SolarAid for a Content and Social Media Manager, reporting to the Director of Communications.

This is a full-time, permanent role, open to candidates based anywhere in the UK, with the option to work remotely or from the London office. Attendance at key team days will be required.

The role focuses on planning, managing and delivering high-quality digital content across SolarAid’s channels, including the website, blog, email and social media. It is a hands-on role, combining day-to-day content production with channel management and collaboration across teams.

Alongside ongoing content and social media activity, the postholder will play an important role in supporting SolarAid’s website redevelopment. This will include reviewing and migrating existing content, helping decide what moves forward, and supporting content quality and consistency as the new site launches and beds in.

The Geological Society Publishing House has an exciting opportunity within the publishing operations team for a ‘Publishing Platform Lead’ to maintain our established flagship publishing platform the Lyell Collection.

Overall responsibilities / requirements …

To oversee the smooth running of the Society’s publishing platform, which showcases our portfolio of online titles. Reporting to the Head of Publishing Operations (HoPO), you will be chiefly responsible for the management, support and maintenance of the Atypon powered Lyell Collection platform.

You will collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless operations and stay up to date with the latest emerging platform technologies. You will be responsible for maintaining the Society’s online publishing platforms, so an understanding of a range of standard integrations, workflows, html and XML is essential.

Key accountabilities

Platform maintenance

• Oversee and maintain the Atypon Web Admin Tool (WAT) for the Society’s scholarly book and journal platform.
• Manage a queue of platform maintenance and change requests, including triage, feasibility analysis, testing and quality assurance.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for reporting platform issues to Atypon (the hosting provider), managing communications, and monitoring the support ticket system to ensure timely resolution.
• Provide technical support and troubleshoot platform issues reported internally and communicate resolution statuses.
• Support development of new platform features and assist with implementation and QA.
• Maintain, validate, edit, and troubleshoot JATS XML while staying current with JATS and NISO standards and ensuring vendor compliance.
• Set up new pages and journal/book series sites within the platform as needed, ensuring all new website content is consistent with site templates and branding.
• Ensure that any new developments are tested and work as per requirements, utilizing the test facilities of the platform via sandbox areas. 

Third party tools and services

• Act as the point of contact with vendors who provide supporting or downstream services for the Lyell Collection, e.g. CrossRef, Digital Science, indexing services etc.
• Oversee the smooth deposit of selected content via Zipline into the GeoScienceWorld (GSW) platform, hosted by Silverchair. This is published via multiresolution doi on both the Lyell Collection and GSW.

Accessibility

• Manage web accessibility compliance in collaboration with internal teams and external vendors by overseeing the implementation of necessary improvements in line with publishing standards and directives.
• Check that any changes in XML tagging or online display meet accessibility requirements.

Charity People are seeking an experienced and confident Designated Safeguarding Lead to join a charity on an interim basis for six months. This is a vital role supporting adults across a wide range of community and specialist services. The postholder will provide expert safeguarding leadership, ensure safe practice, and offer guidance to staff working with vulnerable adults who present with complex needs. This position is required urgently due to the upcoming departure of our current safeguarding lead, so it would be ideal to have a handover period. There is potential for the role to evolve into a broader position as they continue to develop their approach across the organisation.

The Designated Safeguarding Lead will act as the first point of escalation for safeguarding concerns and provide clear, timely advice to staff and managers. The role combines day to day operational safeguarding oversight with longer term development of governance, compliance, and safe practice across services in Surrey. You will work closely with frontline teams, service managers, and the Director of Services to support safeguarding decision making, identify risk, and maintain consistent high standards across all services. This is a hands-on role that requires visibility, relationship building, and confidence working within a busy and diverse organisation.

Key responsibilities:

• Provide expert safeguarding advice on cases
• Oversee safeguarding processes, audits, compliance, and record keeping
• Support staff who may have lower confidence in managing safeguarding concerns
• Escalate cases appropriately to external agencies including MASH, Adult Social Care, and other statutory partners
• Attend key safeguarding meetings and represent the service within local networks
• Identify training needs and support the delivery of safeguarding training and refreshers
• Build relationships across all services and attend team meetings and reflective practice sessions
• Contribute to the development of safe practice across the organisation
• Offer resilience, guidance, and emotional support to staff dealing with complex or distressing cases

You will bring substantial safeguarding experience, ideally within adult services, and hold a minimum Level 3 safeguarding qualification. You will be confident in managing complex cases and navigating multi agency processes.

You will be comfortable working in fast paced environments, able to hold a mixture of reactive and proactive responsibilities, and bring resilience, sound judgement, and a calm approach when supporting staff and service managers. Experience in mental health, outreach, domestic abuse, trauma informed practice, criminal justice, or community support services will be an advantage.

You will bring:

• Significant safeguarding experience and confidence working with adults at risk
• Level 3 safeguarding qualification as a minimum (Essential)
• Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation and statutory processes
• Ability to provide clear guidance and hold others to account
