The Research and Community Engagement Manager will have significant knowledge and experience of health and social care services and community engagement including managing key research projects and working with people who use services. We are excited to be managing the Healthwatch North Northamptonshire Service and appointing new staff for the service. Our aims and mission are to give voice to the public and engaging communities especially those who are least heard and the most vulnerable. You will also be committed to working collaboratively with communities, VCSE and statutory sector services.
You will be able to lead all the key functions including:
• Carry out priority areas of research, using a range of methods and sources of data, on health and social care.
• Produce high quality analysis, reports and presentations for a range of audiences.
• Facilitate co-production activity, working with experts by experience, service users, carers, and peer researchers.
• Work with Healthwatch NN staff and volunteers
We are looking for someone who is committed to social justice and equalities and able to translate this into practice. We need a confident research specialist who is credible and can lead an effective work research and community engagement programme relevant to meeting the needs of local communities and informing change to policy and practice of health and social care services.
Job Purpose:
A core element of Healthwatch NN’s work is the management of research, collection, analysis, and subsequent reporting on information and data relating to people's experiences of publicly funded health and social care services. The Research and Community Engagement Manager is responsible for overseeing this crucial function, ensuring its effective delivery.
In addition to managing research activities, the Research and Community Engagement Manager takes the lead in developing and executing the CRM system. Furthermore, they spearhead the creation of impact measures for the organisation, ensuring that our efforts are aligned with our mission to improve health and social care services in North Northamptonshire.
Our aim is to raise awareness amongst commissioners, providers and other agencies about the importance of engaging with communities, and the expertise and value that individuals can bring to discussion and decision making on local and national issues.
We hope to carry out activities across a number of different programme areas to enable us to fulfil our statutory functions and the Research and Community Engagement Manager will be responsible for:
· By capturing community views through people’s experiences and by understanding and reporting on these experiences to health and social care services.
· By actively promoting community involvement in the commissioning, provision and scrutiny of health and social services, giving people and communities a stronger voice to influence and challenge how health and social care services are provided within their locality.
· By undertaking community-led research in priority areas to examine the impact of health and social care services, its pathways and make any recommendations for change.
· Healthwatch can monitor and review how local services are planned and run (except for social care facilities for children and young people) and have the statutory power to ‘Enter and View’ premises delivering health and social care services. This enables authorised representatives of Healthwatch to observe the nature and quality of services, report on their findings and make recommendations so that local authorities and health services can exercise their duty to respond.
· By providing Information & Signposting Service to help people understand the services available in their local area and to make informed choices about different health and social care services.
KEY TASKS:
To work closely with the Healthwatch Service Manager, Healthwatch NN Advisory Group and the Support Northamptonshire’s CEO to:
Main duties and responsibilities
· Organise, design and carry out participatory qualitative fieldwork.
· Designing peer-research models of social research investigation.
· Conducting qualitative analysis of data conducted through interviews, focus groups, workshops or other methods, with a focus on lesser heard voices.
· Carrying out quantitative data analysis using Excel.
· Utilising a wide variety of research approaches, particularly participatory approaches, which inform, involve and bring together individuals, groups, service providers and decision makers.
Research and analysis
· Carry out priority areas of research, using a range of methods and sources of data, on health and social care.

· Translate research findings into practical learning for developing and improving health and social care services.
· Take responsibility for data and project management and administration as it relates to our social research activity.
· Collaborate with stakeholders and colleagues to develop the annual research programme.
· Lead and oversee the delivery of the annual research programme, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.
· Utilise creative and appropriate methodologies to design and manage research projects, employing both quantitative and qualitative methods.
· Apply various research techniques, including document analysis, surveys, focus groups, interviews, and case studies, to gather relevant information.
· Produce research-based briefings and provide support to stakeholders in understanding key points.
· Analyse and evaluate research findings, interpreting data to identify key issues and develop actionable recommendations.
· Present research data in formats suitable for different audiences, including reports and infographics.
· Collaborate with CEO and team to gain insight into themes identified through community-based activities.
· Support in developing engagement activities based on service user feedback and intelligence.
· Identify simple interventions that Healthwatch NN can implement to impact service improvement.
· Develop an impact reporting system to measure and communicate Healthwatch NNl's impact effectively.
· Liaise with admin regarding information requests, research promotion, and evidence collection from web and social media.
· Analyse the Healthwatch NN database to produce representation reports for commissioners, providers, stakeholders, and the Executive Board, informing them of current trends.
· Provide regular performance reports for the Advisory group.
· Produce reports from the Healthwatch NN database for multidisciplinary boards such as the Health and Wellbeing Board, Joint Strategic Needs Assessment, Overview and Scrutiny Committee etc.
Team working
· Train and support people to take on peer research roles, putting control and ownership of the research process with people interested in and affected by health and social care services.
· Support those actively involved in Healthwatch NN to develop a shared understanding of the implications of gaps in involvement of people from different communities.
In consultation with the Healthwatch NN Service Manager and Support Northamptonshire CEO:
· Represent Healthwatch NN at strategic meetings, conferences and public engagement events as required, acting as a spokesperson for Healthwatch NN at such events.
· Deliver presentations to the public, stakeholders and partner organisations.
· Engage with the Healthwatch network, and health and social care system partners across Northamptonshire and neighbouring area as appropriate.

About the role
Listening Books provides membership across the UK, with a subsidised membership fee of £25 per year for individuals, and free membership to those who cannot afford to pay a fee. The service is provided directly to individuals, but also through working with hospices, children’s hospitals, care homes and schools.
The Membership and Marketing Assistant will work within the Membership and PR team to help expand awareness of the charity’s work and increase membership in line with the PR and Marketing Strategy.
The Person we are looking for
We are looking for someone with a passion for books and accessibility, who will enjoy the opportunities and challenges of working in a small organisation.
This role is mainly focused around maintaining our social media accounts, using these tools to grow and engage our membership, so you’ll enjoy creating appropriate content and interacting with people online. Regular tasks include running an online book group and hosting author interviews, writing blogs, creating partnerships with other charities (for online activities, sharing of information etc) and helping the membership team with designing leaflets, posters and other content.
As this is a part time role (21 hours per week), you’ll need to manage and divide your time consistently and effectively to meet your recruitment and marketing objectives. Excellent time management is essential. You’ll have a good understanding of social media best practices and awareness of accessibility standards for content creation, as well as being equally comfortable speaking to members and partners on the phone, online or in person.
The ideal candidate will have a friendly, can-do attitude, excellent communication skills and a willingness to learn and improve their skills, as well as a desire to help more people access books. In return, we can offer you 20 days holiday (pro-rata and rising with service), as well as a generous pension scheme. About the Role
As a Programme Coordinator, you will be responsible for student engagement, timetabling, logistics, and tutor performance, helping learners secure vital qualifications for their future.
Programme Coordination
- Manage a portfolio of up to 300 students throughout the year, ensuring sustained engagement with tutoring sessions.
- Prepare for programme launches, including timetabling of sessions and logistical planning.
- Maximise student reach by filling available tutoring spaces and maintaining an active pipeline of students.
- Develop strategies to enhance student engagement and track attendance KPIs using our CRM system (Salesforce).

Tutor Performance and Delivery

You will work with a highly motivated staff and volunteer team to deliver a quality outreach advice and support service for individuals with an acquired brain injury in Gloucestershire.

Under the direction of the CEO at Headway Gloucestershire, you will work alongside clients with complex needs to support their recovery, wellbeing, independence and autonomy, working towards agreed goals and recording key outputs and outcomes. This might include:-

The School:
Merchant Taylors’ School is a large Independent Boys’ School, situated in 280 acres of parkland in Northwood, Middlesex. The School was founded in 1561, is owned by the Merchant Taylors’ Educational Trust and moved to its present site in 1933. There are four distinct boys’ day schools on campus. The Nursery, the Pre-Prep & the Prep cater for 370 boys, while the Senior School has over 960 pupils. Main duties and responsibilities:
Fundraising
· Developing and innovating the school’s regular giving programme, the Merchant Taylors’ Fund, to ensure a consistent income stream and increased participation from alumni, parents and friends.
· In conjunction with external consultants, running our (currently) biennial telephone fundraising campaigns and Giving Days.
· Liaising with school departments, clubs and societies to identify exciting projects to motivate supporters.
· Segmenting and targeting recipients for appeals to ensure the greatest impact and returns.
· Devising the strategy for promoting legacy giving as a means of supporting Merchant Taylors’, and to implement this strategy to increase the number of known legacy pledges to the school.
Stewardship
· Establishing and running a comprehensive benefactor stewardship programme that thanks and stewards donors at all levels, including legacy pledges, through regular communication and events.
Reporting
· Reporting on progress against all objectives to the Development and Alumni Relations Sub-Committee of Governors.
· Where appropriate, working with the Development Executive (Events and Communications), to produce benefactor report publications and contribute to other Development publications.
· Ensuring that all contact with OMTs and parents is recorded on the Development Office’s database, the Raiser’s Edge.

Pay and conditions
• The role is full-time, permanent role (37.5 hours per week).
• The salary for the role will be £47,508 - £55,954 (starting salary is expected to be at the lower end of the range)

Specific responsibilities
An applicant appointed to the role will be expected to:
• To deliver all aspects of CSE’s Human Resources function, from recruitment, staff welfare, wellbeing and associated support, staff records, training and professional development, oversight and advice on any conflicts or disciplinary matters; and to include the development and maintenance of all appropriate staff policies and processes, including performance management and staff appraisals, remuneration, role progression and all staff benefits.
• To ensure the Staff Handbook remains regularly updated, and to lead on all amendments / updates to this key document for staff. Additionally, working alongside the Director of Finance & Operations, the Chief Executive and other directors to ensure all HR-related policies and procedures across CSE are reviewed regularly and remain updated accordingly, supporting staff needs as effectively as possible while also reflecting the needs and strategic objectives of the whole organisation, its charitable status and mission.
• To maintain the organisation’s personnel records in accordance with appropriate data protection standards and recognised good practice (utilizing the Cezanne HR system). To provide overall ownership of this system – in terms of data contents, security and ongoing operations for the system. The postholder will also act as primary contact for the Cezanne software supplier, liaising with the Director of Finance & Operations and other interested parties where necessary.
• To maintain oversight of staff welfare and working with line managers and other relevant staff, provide and promote access to support and advice to sustain good staff mental and physical health and wellbeing.
• To play an integral role supporting both the Employee Voice (EV) group and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) group and take a lead on related operational functions including administrating the 6-monthly Staff Survey and highlighting issues and trends in staff feedback.
• Provide oversight and guidance in respect of staff recruitment, onboarding, induction development and training, supporting and advising other relevant staff across all associated processes.
• To issue accurate and timely employment contracts, offer letters, job descriptions, pay review letters for all internal changes. Manage and oversee internal paperwork flows from relevant managers, relating to any changes to individual employee terms of employment. Support the SLT in reviewing and amending standard terms of employment contracts to ensure CSE’s practices reflect current best practice.
• To ensure that all payroll documents such as starter forms and payroll amendment forms are completed and saved in the correct location and sent to the payroll bureau where appropriate, and support the Finance team with the administration of our payroll and payroll records and pension scheme contributions and other employee benefits. To accurately track all staff absence and ensure that self-certification and return to work meetings are completed in a timely manner. Update the Bradford factor grid to monitor score against policy and, support line managers and employees in understanding how CSE uses this as a tool at all stages of process.
• To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of applicable employment, equity and diversity, and Health and Safety laws (with support from professional advisors where appropriate), standards, guidance, and good practice, advising the SLT how these can best be reflected in the organisation’s policies and practices as they apply both to individual members of staff and to the organisation as a whole.
• To prepare accurate and accessible reports for the Senior Leadership Team and Trustees on relevant organisational, team, and individual staff HR matters to enable informed and timely monitoring and decision-making, principally on a set cycle to feed into a routine schedule of meetings and occasionally to meet an ad hoc need.
• To work with the Senior Leadership Team and other staff as appropriate to support change management processes. This may include reviewing remuneration policies, job evaluation and salary benchmarking, skills audits, EDI Practices and line management practices.
• To identify opportunities to improve CSE’s Human Resources processes and practices, informed by a sound understanding of our mission and strategic objectives and our operating context and by keeping up to date with advances in personnel management and human resources practices. Essential attributes for this role include:
• CIPD qualification (Level 5) or equivalent Human Resources qualification.
• At least 5 years’ post-qualification work experience, including at least 2 years’ proven experience in an advisory role.
• Experience of developing and implementing effective HR policies and practices across an organisation, including managing any associated change processes.
• Experience in supporting both the organisation as well as individual employees through challenging employee relation conflicts and issues.
• Applied knowledge of employment legislation and good HR practices.
