About the role

As a valued member of our Customer Engagement team, your role will be pivotal in driving our support and fundraising efforts through outbound calling. Your mission is to connect with our British Heart Foundation (BHF) supporters, who are the lifeblood of our organisation.

Here’s how you’ll make a difference:

• Supporter Engagement Specialist: Connecting with our BHF supporters through outbound calls. 
• Fundraising Event Advocate: Promoting major fundraising events like the London Marathon and the London to Brighton Bike Ride. 
• Customer Experience Ambassador: Enhancing satisfaction and relationships through social media and stewardship activities. 

We are looking to start someone in the this role on 24th July 2024.

About you

• Outbound Calling Experience: You’ve honed your skills in a call centre environment, where you’ve built strong relationships over the phone. You can use your experience in this environment to enhance our customer experience and drive fundraising revenue.
• Exceptional Communication Skills: Your written and spoken English is impeccable. You’ve previously experience engaging with customers via social media.
• Tech Proficiency: Your computer literacy is top-notch, you have experience with Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and data entry.
• Outstanding Customer Service: World-class customer service is your mantra. Your empathy and enthusiasm radiate, and your skills enable you to facilitate informative and engaging customer interactions.

Working arrangements

Working hours are between 09:00am – 07:00pm, subject to business needs. Normal working hours are 09:00am to 05:00pm - Monday to Friday, with flexibility to work 11:00am - 07:00pm during peak event season. 

This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our Birmingham office (B37 7YE).

At the BHF we believe in the power of being together, so our colleagues on blended contracts can expect to spend some time in their office, at least one day each week, on average.   At the moment, the team typically go into the office once a week on a Wednesday. The use of our office spaces is driven in part by your role and the activities you need to do. This may vary from time to time, so you will need to work in a flexible way to unlock your best work for our cause.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for a Head of Safeguarding & Professional Standards with a background in social work to join Young Lives vs Cancer.

The Head of Safeguarding & Professional Standards works to create a positive organisational safeguarding culture where safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, through shaping, implementing and monitoring safeguarding activity, policy, training and governance across the whole organisation. The role also sets professional standards for our Services Directorate, and highlights areas for continuous improvement, and by directly delivering or designing and commissioning training, they enable Young Lives vs Cancer to respond to changes in policy, legislation and best practice in social care and safeguarding.

You would be joining us at a really exciting time in our journey. Following two innovative peer reviews with partner charities, we are confident in our approach to safeguarding. But like many organisations, we need to prepare for the future. With the launch of a new strategy later this year, we are looking outward to understand how we can create a better future for young cancer patients, one in which the whole system of support around them works together, face to face and digitally, and no-one is left behind. We constantly challenge how we do things, and are experimenting with new ways to create impact, influence the whole system, and importantly – fund this vital work.

You’ll be vital to this journey, leading our approach to safeguarding and professional standards and giving us a high level of confidence as we move forward. You will work closely with a passionate and dedicated group of trustees, directors and management teams who lead activities from frontline social care services through to fundraising and support services.

This role is subject to a criminal record check. In the event of a successful application an Enhanced Criminal Record Check will be completed. This role is also subject to a Social Worker Registration. 

WHAT WILL I BE DOING?

No two days are the same at Young Lives vs Cancer. So, summarising your ‘day to day’ isn’t easy. Here are some of the main things you’ll be doing, but you’ll find more details in the job description.

The Head of Safeguarding & Professional Standards:

• Shapes, implements and monitors and reports performance against the safeguarding policy, training and governance across the whole organisation including with the trustees
• Reports to and supports the trustee Safeguarding Committee
• Oversees the governance of safeguarding referrals and activity in local social care teams
• Advises on safeguarding matters anywhere else across the organisational structure (including in income generation, for example)
• Works closely with the Services Senior Management team to set professional standards for our services and highlight areas for continuous improvement
• Planning and directly delivering, or designing and commissioning training, to enable Young Lives vs Cancer to respond to changes in policy, legislation and best practice in social care and safeguarding

WHAT DO I NEED? 

The person we are looking for will have:

• The right experience: you must be a registered social worker and have worked as a as a social worker and in a strategic role in children or young people's social care services, delivering safe services with particular reference to safeguarding and assurance, and have significant experience of developing social work practice at a strategic or system level
• The right leadership expertise: with strong leadership and collaborative planning skills you will have ability to work collaboratively to oversee how things work, and influence stakeholders across the charity
• The right people skills: Confidence to challenge ways of thinking and the communication skills to coach and empower people to build a culture of safeguarding.

We are looking for an exceptional leader to lead on delivery of our community based support within the London Borough of Islington. These services include core IDVA teams and additional specialist roles, often supporting survivors at the point of crisis and highest risk. You will take a lead role in ensuring the high standards we set are achieved and identifying where and how we can make improvements. You will lead on development and maintenance of effective commissioning relationships and be able to identify and develop opportunities for service enhancement and growth.

You will have leadership experience in a VAWG or other service delivery organisation which includes management of different service elements. You will be comfortable with managing risk and a calm, reflective operational leader able to support staff who are often working in crisis response mode.  You will have used your experience of working in a service delivery environment to identify and implement service improvements. You will have good data literacy and eye for detail, particularly around service utilisation and reporting.

About the Role

The main duties of this post will be the provision of high quality and efficient project management for the Senior Leadership team, including:

• Developing fundraising proposals, briefings and supporting materials for the SLT to use to promote funding opportunities to potential donors.

In this role, you will coach our MND Connect Advisers, helping them to develop their skills and confidence. You will ensure the helpline is always available during opening hours, effectively managing resources to maintain this crucial support service.

Creating a positive working environment is key. You will provide emotional support to staff after challenging calls and promote resilience and wellbeing. You will also develop training programmes to ensure our team is able to meet the needs of incoming enquiries.

Your responsibilities will include maintaining effective monitoring and measurement systems to demonstrate the impact of our service. You will facilitate regular team meetings, enabling knowledge sharing and support for difficult calls.

Working within our Helpline Partnerships guidelines, you will ensure compliance with quality standards. You will keep up to date on developments in MND and related services, informing our strategy and maintaining our team's knowledge.

We are looking for a People Operations Manager to join the National Theatre People Team.

The purpose of the role

The People Operations Manager will lead and manage the People Operations function and be responsible for the design, improvement and delivery of all people processes and experiences including transactional HR processes, on-boarding.  A key part of the role is the continued development and delivery of HR functionality of NT People, the NT’s workforce system.  You will ensure a high level of customer service and work closely with the Payroll Team.

You will also lead on data and reporting both internally and externally.  You will develop the provision of accessible and understandable HR related data to the People team and wider organisation.

The successful candidate will have the following: 

• CIPD Level 5 Diploma qualification or equivalent experience.

• Experience of using data to inform decision making and produce reports.

• Experience of planning using organisational and project management skills with the ability to work under pressure and manage time and resources effectively.

• Experience of communicating key messages verbally and in a range of written form.

• Experience of managing an HR management system, including diagnostics and problem solving arising issues.

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) are a unique UK-wide activity that help businesses to improve their competitiveness and productivity by making better use of the knowledge, technology and skills within universities, colleges and research organisations.

THE PROJECT 

The University of Essex in partnership with We are the Minories (WATM), an arts charity and gallery in a historic townhouse in Colchester, offers an exciting opportunity to a graduate with the relevant skills and knowledge to develop a data led and long-term strategic plan, to enhance WATM’s growth.

The associate will work with WATM’s managers and University of Essex academic supervisors to ensure WATM's sustainable and prosperous future while keeping their community ethos and values at the heart of their activities. This will be achieved through four key strategies:

1. Developing innovative solutions to evaluate and measure the social impact of WATM’s activities to enhance its success rates in funding applications.
2. Introducing business model innovations to support WATM in improving its income generation, such as through new product/service development (e.g., consultancy) and exploring additional income-generating activities like leveraging its physical space.
3. Enhancing WATM’s capabilities in managing both social and economic missions and supporting them in sharing their knowledge through consultancy to third-party organisations.
4. Developing marketing, operational, and financial plans to foster the sustainable growth of WATM.

This post is fixed term for 18 months.  

DUTIES OF THE POST

The duties of the post will include: 

• Conduct literature reviews and summarise findings for a non-academic audience.
• Design and develop a framework to measure social output, outcomes, and impacts of WATM's activities.
• Conduct quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis.
• Develop and design data-driven and customer-driven strategies to improve the sustainability and growth of WATM
• Develop strategies for augmenting earned and grant income.
• Formulate and implement robust and well-informed marketing, operational and financial plans based on the collected data and selected strategies.
• Develop a comprehensive knowledge management plan, encompassing strategies for disseminating insights and best practices derived from the project.
• Manage activities, stakeholders and relationship building across diverse groups, including WATM’s board of trustees, art gallery/café visitors, artists, employees, volunteers, and wider community.
• Disseminate findings in scientific articles and conferences.

These duties are a guide to the work that the post holder will initially be required to undertake. They may be changed from time to time to meet changing circumstances.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

• A first/undergraduate degree in Management, Business Studies or a related discipline, OR a first/undergraduate degree in a subject related to Arts and Humanities or nonprofit sector with business development experience.
• Excellent market research, analytical and problem-solving skills to generate insights and support evidence-based decision making.
• Knowledge and experience of qualitative and quantitative data analysis and proficiency with data analysis tools and methodologies.
