Salary: £32,000 per annum
Hours: 40 per week, with occasional evenings and weekends (will consider 4 days for the right applicant)
Contract: Permanent (subject to continuing funding)

About us

All Hallows Bow is a vibrant, diverse and growing Anglican church in the heart of London's East End. In 2014, we established the Fern Street Family Centre with a vision to see Jesus's promise of 'life to the full' (John 10:10) become reality for disadvantaged and vulnerable children and their families in Bow.

We offer safe and stimulating spaces for children to play and learn and for parents to strengthen their relationship with their children, through group and one-to-one support, an English language programme for migrant parents, early learning and play, a food pantry, out-of-school and holiday clubs! In all we do we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus and hold onto his promise of hope, wholeness, restored relationships and realised potential for families in our area.

Role Overview

As Family Support Worker, you will be at the heart of our community ministry, helping families facing complex challenges to build resilience and achieve positive outcomes for their children.

You will hold your own caseload, carrying out whole-family assessments, creating action plans with parents and children, and offering home visits and one-to-one support. You will work closely with schools, the local authority and voluntary partners, and take part in multi-agency meetings (TAF/TAC, CIN and CP).

You will also deliver parenting programmes and parent wellbeing groups, lead after-school and holiday clubs for 4–11s, and get out onto local estates to meet families who might never walk through our doors. You will support our volunteers and act as Designated Safeguarding Lead for the centre.

You will bear witness to Christ's love in all that you do, praying with families, sharing your faith where welcome and taking an active part in the worship and prayer life of All Hallows Bow. We would love you to put down roots in Bow and become part of our church family.

About you

You will be a warm and capable practitioner with experience of family support for children and families from disadvantaged backgrounds, including whole-family assessments, action planning, holding a caseload and multi-agency safeguarding meetings. You will be resilient, calm under pressure and non-judgmental, with a commitment to culturally sensitive practice across Bow's diverse communities. You will have an NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People's Workforce or Social Care, or substantial equivalent experience. Parenting programme training, experience of church-based children's work, or knowledge of Bengali/Sylheti or Somali would be a bonus!
