We are seeking an Accounts Officer to support our Finance Director in managing the financial operations within the UK office. This pivotal role contributes to our mission by ensuring financial accuracy, adhering to compliance standards, and facilitating effective financial administration.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assist in daily financial operations, including processing transactions, managing payroll, and handling expenses for staff and volunteers.
2. Support the month-end financial closing process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
3. Help in preparing and filing VAT returns and managing compliance with HMRC regulations.
4. Serve as a contact point for UK banking operations, helping to maintain robust banking relationships and mandates.
5. Contribute to the maintenance of financial controls and suggest improvements to enhance efficiency.
6. Assist in providing financial training and support to BIF staff, promoting understanding of financial policies.
7. Collaborate with the finance team to ensure alignment of financial procedures and support the Finance Director in strategic financial planning.

Competencies and Qualifications:

1. Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
2. Experience in financial operations, preferably within a charity or NGO setting.
3. Preferably progressing towards/has recognised accountancy qualification (ACCA/CIMA/ICAEW)
4. Understanding of UK financial regulations and tax laws, with specific knowledge of VAT and GiftAid advantageous.
5. Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
6. Effective communication skills, capable of working collaboratively with both finance and non-finance colleagues.
7. elf-motivated with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Purpose of the job/About the role

Join Dementia UK as a Gift Processing Officer helping to establish an excellent level of financial processing that will underpin the growth in fundraising activity across a range of income streams.

Working within the supporter care team you will be responsible for processing a high volume of donations. You will ensure that that all processing is accurate and timely in order to provide an excellent supporter experience for all Dementia UK donors & supporters. Reporting to the Supporter Care Manager, the Gift Processing Officer will handle post, cheques, cash and charity vouchers, working carefully with our database to record income and thank all supporters who give to Dementia UK.

The ideal candidate will possess previous experience in database management, demonstrating a keen eye for detail and strong numeracy skills. You will have high computer literacy with knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word and Excel. You will also have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to prioritise own workload and adapt to changing demands in a busy environment.

Income Supervisor
37 hours per week
Salary: £30,000 - £32,500 per annum WTE (dependent on experience)

Do you have accounting experience and the ability to support and supervise a small team? Phyllis Tuckwell is looking to appoint an Income Supervisor to lead and coordinate the Income team within our Finance Department.

The main responsibilities are to:

• Supervise a small income team and volunteers.
• Manage, control, analyse and reconcile income onto the financial ledger and the donor database.
• Manage the entry of all direct bank receipts and income from online giving platforms, including set up and monitoring all standing orders and associated bank reconciliation.
• Oversee weekly cash counts for banking via G4S security.
• Act as the main point of contact with the finance department for all retail operations staff and ensure all retail shop income is recorded correctly and reconciles to the retail system.
• Be the main point of contact and information for all income issues, liaising with other departments as required.
• Manage the Gift Aid declaration process including the correct entry on donor database and the scanning process.

The successful candidate will have:

• AAT level 4 / MAAT or be qualified by experience to this level.
• A detailed knowledge of financial accounting and double entry bookkeeping.
• Experience of complex reconciliations of high-volume transactional data.
• Proven experience of implementing & managing strong financial controls.
• Familiarity with accounting in charity sector and gift aid welcomed.
• Experience of operating specialised accounting systems – PT uses Microsoft Business Central.
• Intermediate Excel skills (VLOOKUP, basic pivot, SUMIFS, conditional formatting and similar)
• Excellent communication skills across all levels.
• Strong planning, organisational and flexibility skills.
• Some experience of leading a team (staff & volunteers).

We are looking for a confident and driven marketer who is eager to join a hard-working and ambitious direct marketing team. Working with different teams across the charity, you’ll be planning, managing and delivering direct marketing campaigns across a range of media including digital and print. Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

Campaign Management

· Plan, manage and deliver successful campaigns across a range of channels including face-to-face, digital and print.

· Successful management of fundraising agencies and suppliers; ensuring relationships are effective and productive.

· Deliver motivational fundraiser training and develop engaging fundraiser materials with agency stakeholders to ensure high-quality fundraising.

· Ensure compliance and adherence to regulation and codes of practice is considered in all campaign activities, to include mystery shopping and call listening.

· Work closely with Data and Digital teams to ensure effective processes are worked to and full campaign evaluation is possible.

· Donation page monitoring, reporting and development, to include looking at ways in which to improve the donor’s online user journey.

· Continuous improvement through test and learn principles across all activities.

· Integration of campaigns across the charity to drive maximum value.

· Development of compelling communications and materials to support all activities.

Planning and Budgeting

· KPI tracking, trend analysis and interrogation of results at all levels.

· Live programme optimisation to ensure targets are met.

· Input to annual planning and development of individual giving campaigns.

· Assist Direct Marketing Manager with compilation of detailed income and expenditure campaign budgets.

· Work with Direct Marketing Manager in developing the Acquisition programme and strategy.

· Input to monthly forecasting and regular reporting across a range of financial and non-financial KPI’s.

Finance and Reporting

· Ensure daily campaign tracking and reporting.

· Routine end of campaign reviews and analysis.

· Ongoing reporting on long-term success measures such as attrition and ROI.

· Invoice reconciliation and processing for timely payment.

· Non-financial KPI trend reporting - such as opt-in rates and quality scoring.

Our Helpline runs from 9am to 7pm Monday to Friday, and we’re looking for an enthusiastic, warm and experienced individual to support our dedicated Helpline Volunteers and Befriending Volunteers within the Helpline team.

This role requires working flexible hours, including 9am–5pm, 10am–6pm or 11am–7pm between Monday to Friday to meet services and volunteer needs (3 days a week).

Description

We have a very exciting opportunity for anyone who enjoys working on the front-line of patient support across the Gloucester region.

This role will deliver Kidney Care UK’s Patient Support and Advocacy service in the region. This varied role deals with every aspect of a patient’s life that supports better outcomes: welfare benefits, practical, emotional and social support. As well as directly supporting patients, you will raise awareness of the wide range of local and national resources available to kidney patients, and build strong relationships with kidney patients, professionals, and other stakeholder groups in the region.

Based at home (laptop and mobile phone provided), you will be expected to travel independently across the Gloucester area and manage your own caseload with the support of your line manager and other members of our national friendly, committed team.

We’ll provide the training, you’ll bring enthusiasm and your experience of working with chronically ill patients in a social, care or health role.

As our Income Co-ordinator, you will be responsible for co-ordinating the income processing tasks for the Income team and oversee processing for Gift Aid Claims. You will proactively process claims with integrity, consistency, and accuracy, in compliance with HMRC regulations, ultimately maximising our income from supporters.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve daily and weekly scheduling of income processing tasks, addressing complex queries while providing an excellent supporter care service, and managing Gift Aid claims efficiently.

You'll also be instrumental in providing training to others on the claims process, spotting any discrepancies, and collaborating with other fundraising teams to optimise Gift Aid claims.

In addition to your Gift Aid responsibilities, you'll process income and data onto our database, maintaining high standards of accuracy and consistency. All income will be added and coded with accuracy and consistency.

To excel in this role, you'll need to adhere to data protection regulations, HMRC guidelines, and internal compliance policies rigorously. You'll also be an integral part of our Supporter Care team, fostering cross-team collaboration and contributing actively to working groups.

What are we looking for?

You will be a detail orientated individual with previous experience in a coordination role with the ability to effectively managing your workload and support others.

Excellent communication, both written and verbal, is key, along with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.

Understanding or transferable experience in HMRC Gift Aid compliance and claims processing is an advantage, as is a technical proficiency in databases.

This role will deliver Kidney Care UK’s Patient Support and Advocacy service in the region. You’ll build a sustainable team of proactive volunteers affected by Parkinson’s to energise our communications through their personal stories and participation in communications work.

What you’ll do:

• Manage, monitor and report on the bilingual web pages and Facebook page for Wales

• Maximise coverage for campaigns and fundraising communications in Wales, and produce creative content, including video

• Research and ‘sell’ stories to maximise coverage, involving people affected by Parkinson’s

• Provide Welsh language media interviews

• Conduct media and social media training for staff and volunteers and produce media briefings to support interviews

• Experience of interviewing and case study collection within sensitive topics 

• Ability to build effective relationships with colleagues, the media and stakeholders in Wales

• Ability to work co-productively with people affected by Parkinson’s
