As a registered charity, fundraising is of critical importance to our organisation in supporting the delivery of a number of projects, from historic building preservation to innovative new learning programmes and community outreach.

This newly created role within our Development Team will play a vital role in supporting the Historic Dockyard in generating funding to support a wide variety of projects. 

We are looking for someone who is a natural relationship builder and is passionate about the aims and objectives of Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust.  The successful candidate will be working alongside the Development Manager to grow support from Charitable Trusts and Foundations, corporate supporters and growing individual giving opportunities.

This role is a great opportunity for someone looking to build on their fundraising experience and develop further utilising a wide range of fundraising disciplines.

The opportunity has arisen to join the Senior Leadership team support staff in an exciting new role at the heart of philanthropic leadership at the University of Oxford. With an initial focus on supporting the fundraising activity of the Executive Director of Development, this new role will increase our capacity to secure multi-million-pound donations from across the globe.

About the Role

The main duties of this post will be the provision of high quality and efficient project management for the Senior Leadership team, including:

• Developing fundraising proposals, briefings and supporting materials for the SLT to use to promote funding opportunities to potential donors.
• Collating information and materials to provide reports for the SLT and other senior officers within the Pro Vice Chancellors’ and Vice Chancellor’s offices as needed for donor and volunteer cultivation, solicitations, stewardship and events.
• Managing donor reporting for key donors, liaising with academics and other key stakeholders to draft reports to donors. 
• Providing follow-up to any initiative which members of the SLT thinks must be tracked but which does not fall within the remit of any of the Development and Alumni Engagement teams, prompting members of the team about action as needed.

To Be Successful You’ll Need:

• Experience of providing a high level of project support in a fast-paced, complex organisation, ideally in a higher education or development environment
• An ability to act independently and decisively when the situation demands it.  Good judgement and the ability to acquire the knowledge necessary to support the task in hand in a timely manner
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, including a good command of the English language; the ability to be highly creative in producing materials and to understand how to articulate projects

About the Role

This role is an exciting opportunity to work for Mind BLMK as part of the Fundraising & Engagement Team.

Acting as the first point of contact for all Fundraising & Comms enquiries and in line with Mind BLMK’s Fundraising and Communications Strategy, this is a busy role and will require excellent stewardship and donor care skills as well as meticulous organisation and innovative thinking. As an Ambassador for Mind BLMK, you will need to have a passion for mental health and an ability to operate at all levels.

The successful applicant will generate income and support all aspects of communication and marketing, to help to maximise local support, raise awareness of our work in the community, and by providing exceptional supporter stewardship, in line with Mind BLMK’s Fundraising and Communication strategy.

Key Duties

• Act as the first point of contact for all fundraising enquiries and provide stewardship and donor care for Mind BLMK’s individual givers, corporates, groups, volunteers and other supporters of the charity, in line with the fundraising strategy.
• Act as first point of contact for all marketing, PR and event enquiries.
• Send donors bespoke information and materials to support their fundraising at Mind BLMK.
• Ensure supporter interaction points (telephone, post, email) adhere to the highest standard.
• Support existing and develop new partnerships with corporates, organisations, and individuals, to support income growth.
• Develop and maintain relationships with philanthropists and encourage legacy giving.
• Help with the co-ordination of fundraising volunteers, as requested or as appropriate.
• Help to identify and develop potential areas of fundraising growth and process improvements, in line with the Fundraising Strategy and supporting net income growth.
• Write and send outgoing thank you letters to all income streams.
• Help maintain an up-to-date and accurate supporter database, finance log and fundraising and communications materials.
• Support the implementation of marketing strategies and targeted campaigns; plan, develop, and ensure the production of multi-media communications, PR, and marketing materials and compelling stories.
• Work closely with external organisations in order to raise awareness of services available locally and increase access to provision for individuals across Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes.

You will work to increase the charity’s local presence improving visibility and helping to increase engagement with Carers First across all the areas in which we work, supporting with the development and delivery of our campaigns and projects.
To be successful you will require 1-2 years of experience in a public relations or communications position, ideally within the charity or public sectors, excellent IT skills including ability to use Microsoft Office suite, along with superb organisational skills with a proven ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines and show attention to detail.

Job Purpose:

The Start Funds MEAL Officer will work with colleagues within both SCUK and Start Network. Previously (until May 2019) Start Network and Start Funds and Programmes were hosted by Save the Children UK (SCUK) since its creation in 2012. The position sits within Save the Children UK as a Grant Custodian on behalf of the Start Network supported by a Grant Custodian Agreement (GCA) which describes the roles and commitments of each entity.

About the role
The Start Network funds have a robust monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) portfolio to strengthen evidence-based learning, performance and overall accountability towards the people affected by or at-risk of crises, donors, members, and partners.

Reporting to the Crisis Financing MEAL Lead, the Start Funds MEAL Officer will play an important role to support the ongoing MEAL activities for the Start Funds to enhance its performance, learning, and accountability.

Performance

• Contribute towards the identification and implementation of diverse and innovative approaches to MEAL.

Accountability

• Deliver and enhance Start Funds' quality, accountability and monitoring practices to members, partners and affected populations by conducting Learning Exchanges, reviewing project report forms and carrying out project assessments
• Manage Learning Grant processes and outputs in coordination with MEAL Advisor

Knowledge

• Contribute towards continuous improvement of technical quality, processes and outputs of Start Funds MEAL including, but not limited to, the development of methodological guidelines, MEAL tools and approaches.
• Produce and support various thematic research, reviews, studies and learning products according to the MEAL work plan.
• Support capacity building activities for the Start Funds Programme team and the wider and membership for relevant themes such as data quality, evidence-based programming etc.
• Support the MEAL Advisor in business development activities including the scaling-up of the Start Funds.

About you

To be successful, it is important that you have:

• Previous experience delivering MEAL for humanitarian or development programmes
• Excellent data analysis skills
• Proven experience of embracing new approaches, technology and ways of working
• Experience of using qualitative and quantitative analysis software
• Experience of using Salesforce or other customer relationship management (CRM) system
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present data and evidence in a user-friendly form and to stakeholders at different levels
• Demonstrable experience of strong teamwork capabilities and collaboration
• Undergraduate degree, ideally in social science, research methods, humanitarian response or related fields
• Language skills - working proficiency in Spanish

Job Responsibilities:

• Leading, motivating and managing the Management Accounting and Analysis team to provide a consistent and high-quality financial planning and analysis service, including 4 direct deports and 4 indirect reports
• Ensuring the delivery of timely, insightful and accurate financial reporting
• Driving an agenda of continual improvement and innovation, keeping pace with developments in best practice
• Responsible for grant management and reporting activities, acting as Finance Lead for all grant streams
• Ensure that clear and consistent processes and procedures are in place for different grant streams and providing support to the programme and grant directors
• Work collaboratively with the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis, Finance Director, Deputy FDs, Head of Financial Accounting & Operations as well as key internal and external stakeholders

Person Specification:

• CCAB/ACA/ACCA or equivalent professional accounting body qualification with significant PQE in a similar role (Essential)
• Experience of financial planning and analysis covering all aspects of budgeting, forecasting and management reporting
• Knowledge and experience of grant accounting and grant management
• Experience of implementing financial reporting and planning tools
• Not for profit sector expereince within a large and complex organisation

Purpose of the role:

The purpose of the role is to provide administrative expertise for the Helpline and Board Operations across a wide range of functions to support day-to-day service delivery, including:

• Facilitate elements of HR, Finance, IT, facilities management, and event management.
• Provide administration support for the Board of Trustees and Trustee sub-committees for their quarterly meetings.
• Ensure accurate records of Board meetings are maintained for the organisation.
• Manage communications between board members, executives, and external stakeholders.
• Act as the point of contact for the Charity Commission.
• Spearhead development project and initiatives for the Helpline and Board of Trustees.
